   Excellent as always! I'm literally working my way through the brunch menu with a ricotta pancake on the side each and every time

   Food was great and the service was even better. The manager even came over and wished us a happy anniversary.

   One of the best in Lawrence. Good food, great decor, and a friendly staff. Love the specials and the bar is always trying something new. Highly recommend.

   My husband and I took my mom for a Mother's Day dinner. This was our first visit so we had no idea what to expect. They were able to seat us earlier than our res which was great! The staff was so personable and professional. The owner even stopped by to talk to us. The food was excellent! Wonderful experience and will go back for sure! Highly recommend. One critique would be a better dessert menu especially since I would consider this a special occasion restaurant. $$$

   When we entered J. Wilson's, we realized we had been there before when it was called Mariscos. It has the same owners and a similar menu, but the decor is updated and more open. I loved the shrimp & grits, pork belly skewers, crabcakes and cheese platter. My cocktail was delicious and so was the wine. More outstanding than the food was the service which was impeccable, from the host to the wine steward to the server to the floor manager. Truly top notch.

   The food was good but the portion size is pretty small. One thing that was very disappointing was we ordered an appetizer that the waitress recommended for 4 people. I am not sure what it was called but we got a little (very little salmon) 2 boiled eggs, 2 slices of very thin grilled bread and 4 slices of butter pickles, 4 grilled lemons and a dill sauce. I had the salmon with Brussels spouts and mash potatoes that was very good though!

   Always receive great service and the food is budget friendly and so delicious! Friendly place and staff are all very friendly.

    I was a bit disappointed in two respects. First, my son had ordered soup instead of a salad. The soup was served cold. It was not until the end of the meal that we had any opportunity to give some feedback about the cold soup. One of the owners had stopped by our table and introduced herself and inquired about the meal. I told her it was "ok." She asked, "just 'ok?'" I told her "yes," and added that the soup was cold. The owner then said something to the effect, "Other than the soup, how was everything else?" I told her is was "ok;" but, she tried to push me to state the meal was better than "ok." Unfortunately, it was not. [I didn't bring it up, but my broccolini, salad, and ribeye were nothing to get excited about either.] The second aspect of my disappointment was with the way the owner handled our communication. She should have accepted my statements that the meal was merely "ok," and that this patron didn't have the opinion that the meal was any better than that. The owner should have probably done something to compensate for the cold soup. But, she did nothing. Immediately on the heals of the conversation with the owner, I was presented the check. The $75.00 dinner was rather overpriced for the lackluster quality of what was served. This was the first time I visited this restaurant. The cold soup and the owner's communications left a "bad taste," and regrettably, that doesn't encourage another try!
