Food was very good and fresh. Service was timely and friendly but could have helped us out more since it was a group business lunch with options to share and space on the table. There weren't enough menus for everyone and no recommendations were made on sharing plates for the group. People who brought the food didn't know who ordered what. Ice tea was brought to the table in individual bottles which is "pizzaria-like" style. Rolls were very tasty and presented well. I would definitely come back again. The lava roll was excellent.

Luckily the food is outstanding that I keep coming back. Service is definitely something they want to work on. Polite but not timely and they tend to forget about you and not let you know where things are.

Our family dined at Izanami on Friday night - yes it was Valentines Day too, but the staffing for a Friday was noticeably low. We waited close to half an hour to get our order taken and had almost no followup service during the meal. It appeared there was only one server for the entire front dining section - and that server was also filing the role of host/greeter. I couldn't tell if there were any different servers in the back section or not. It was significant the only thing we got quickly was the bill. Previous visits were much more enjoyable.

But the food was excellent. Most of my table had sushi and I had a bowl of Ramen. Everyone was satisfied. However, this restaurant lost points because of service. We were seated and given menus then ignored for the next ten minutes. No drinks, no "Hi, I'm your waitress", nothing. Only once we started commenting (loudly) did we get service and service afterwards continued in an unhurried pace. Not great. Don't let the reputation of the food suffer because the service is slow!

The restaurant smelled like rotting fish as soon as we stepped in. The sushi was mediocre, the nigiri was warm, and the ramen had no flavor - it was more like an oily and spicy water and the noodles were al dente.

Our server, Jenny, was great. She came back at appropriate times (not when we had food in our mouths) checking on how we were enjoying the food and our sake flights. It's unfortunate that the only option for ramen was made with a beef broth. It would have been nice to have a veg-option that wasn't cold noodles.

This restaurant is very nice -- the setting, sitting and food were all very good. The waiters were very friendly and helpful. I would go back to this restaurant again. Thank you for a great restaurant in So. City!!
