We offer you freshest Sashimi, Sushi and various chef Specials in Japanese cuisine along with selected Sake, Shochu and wines to complete your meal. Izakaya Matsuri is located in the center of town- on Young St. with lots of free parking for our customers.
(*We do not provide highchairs, or baby seats for children since we are Japanese - Izakaya style restaurant which is mainly for adults.)

Not inexpensive...BUT OH SO GOOD! Nice selection of Sake. The sushi was so fresh and absolutely melt in your mouth. Some of the fish is only available in Japan and is flown in. Uni was heavenly. Rolls Devine.

Fresh sushi, excellent service, variety of sake, and home made desserts!! What more can you ask for? Make a reservation cause it’s a small restaurant. You can also order a fresh Hokkaido crab!! My favorite sushi spot!

The place is very cozy and can be easily missed if one is not familiar with the area. This is our 5th time here since we discovered it while passing through Young street 3 years ago. It is one of our favorite sashimi/sushi spot and omakase. The food is made to order with fresh ingredients and seasoned perfectly. The sashimi melts in your mouth and the Hokkaido uni is so tasty that I could taste the ocean’s essence in it! The staff were attentive, friendly and made us feel special when they served our dessert with birthday decoration and a candle. Their menu has a variety of choices that can please any palate craving for authentic Japanese food. I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant and we’ll be back again.

second time in this restaurant, last time maybe 15 plus years with my old girlfriend. Cozy place and we sat on the sushi bar.. izakaya place with lots to choose from, although the nigiri is pricy, the quality is top notch with any other place in town. so not a problem unless you want larger portions. Might ne better to sick to izakaya dishes next time i go back. some look good to eat, maybe next time..

The service was not very good - though it was Valentine's day and it looked like they had takeout orders, which may have affected in-person service. The food was good, but incredibly overpriced - about $200 for two people, tip included - two beers and holding back on food, so didn't eat very much. Not awful, just overpriced. Also, they don't have paper menus. You have to hold your camera to a QR code and scroll through a difficult to interpret menu on your cell phone screen. I understand this became more prevalent once Covid hit, but now it's just tacky and detracts from the restaurant experience.

Food was really good, fish was fresh. Didn’t care for the sake in the uni and oyster shooter. Actually surprised me. It was unexpected and unpleasant. Definitely prefer without the sake. The hotate, uni and ankimo was my favorite and the chawanmushi was really good too. I would recommend Matsuri’s.

This is a small restaurant off the beaten path, but I can see why it is popular. The night we went they had to turn away customers who did not have reservations. The food overall was outstanding, especially the fried tofu and the crispy roll. Service was fine. They have a limited selection of sake that's available, but a large possible menu (? supply chain issues). The seats were not particularly comfortable in the restaurant.

Helpful guidance of menu items. Server brought an iPad so we can see items better and explain in detail the special features of noted items. Quick to remove dirty dishes without interrupting our conversations. Replenish our teapot quietly and when needed without prompting from us. Food was fresh, tasty, and high quality

At first it was not a good experience. One of the waitress who met us at the door and then took us to our seat and then took our initial order was a rude, but the second waitress was very nice. From the time we ordered to the time we got our food took almost 40 minutes, but as the food came things got better. If the food wasn’t good the whole night would be a mood killer and a waste of time.
