Island Creek Oyster Bar

My boyfriend and I came here to celebrate our anniversary and had a lovely experience. The food was delicious, and the wait staff was very nice. I highly recommend the Lobster Roe Noodles! They even covered our drinks for us because of our special occassion which we didn’t expect at all!
Perfect in every way
One of the better meals in Boston.
I have always wanted to visit ICOB, and now being there I'm not surprised with how everything ran. The food was exceptional, the décor to floor unreal, it really had that new England feel and tempo that sported the ambiance.
Very limited menu compare to what was shown online.
Went for brunch, and it was fantastic. Our server was very helpful, asked great questions, and seemed to genuinely enjoy working at Island Creek Oyster. The cocktails were delicious and all of the food was excellent. I would highly recommend for brunch.
Michelle - our server - was awesome. Knowledgeable, smart, pleasant. Nice job!
Oysters always among the best ever. Ceviche, crudo and Pate were so good. Fried clams didn’t quite hit the mark. Usually are delicious, hot and as good as you’ve ever had. This time a bit over cooked and had sat a bit too long before serving.
Always my go-to when in Boston but only when on expense account. A great but pricey experience.
AMAZING food and drink menu! Our server was very slow (we asked for the check 3x) but food made up for the wait. We ordered:
* dozen oysters - great selection of east coast oysters - from MA, to New England Coast to Canada; wellfleet and fin de la baie were our faves of the night if you're into more briny oysters
* Lobster Roe Noodles - worth the hype
* Monkfish - fish was perfectly cooked and that extra crispy skin and cabbage slaw were on point
great selection of local beers and a fantastic old fashioned.
Ambiance and decor were great - would highly recommend!
Great wine, great food, great service! What more do you need?
Fabulous service. One of those menus where you don't even know what to get, because it all looks so good. We had the most wonderful waitress; one of the guests had an allergy, and she knew the menu super well AND then was even willing to double-check. We got a variety of oysters (all delicious), appetizers mains AND a dessert. Delicious cocktails. Can't wait to go back.
Excellent food and service! One of my favorites in Boston
Exactly what we were hoping for! Didn’t disappoint!
Excellent food and service...………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………...
The bartender had no personality, surprisingly.
The waitress more than made up for it with her manner and knowledge.
I never got the fish & chips before and would never get it again. Too much greasy batter, not enough fish.
This is my favorite seafood restaurant in Boston. I go to Island Creek for every occasion: birthday, anniversary, drinks with friends etc. I always order the rotating ceviche option on the menu; it is always wonderful. The chowder is delicious. They have one of the best spreads of oyster around. Everyone who works there is very kind, attentive, and helpful. This restaurant is one of the most consistent I have been to in Boston. I have never been disappointed here.
Fabulous food and great drinks. Best piece of halibut ever.
Always a delightful experience
Excellent food and service! I always trust ICOB to have quality seafood, but yesterday I was really impressed with the professionalism and top notch interactions from the hostess and server. I've never had issues before, just thought they went above and beyond my typical dining experience at any establishment by being really considerate. Much appreciated!
One of my favorites
Will visit again
Another marvelous time at ICOB, truly outstanding & attentive service, accommodating special requests as well, many delicious oysters & great wine. Perhaps a bit noisier than usual b/c there was a party of 60 very lively people enjoying a company night out, but the effect was to give the place more of a buzz than usual.
Top notch dinner from start to finish! We enjoyed a selection of oysters and a delicious drink recommendation...a Paper Plane ,yum! Had the waiter choose a fish entree...monkfish with parisian gnocchi ...also YUM!
Made a reservation and asked not to be near the wait station and in a quiet corner. was led to a table way in back, next to kitchen door and wait station. But was accommodated when asked for another table and ended up in the bar seating which is much nicer than dining room. Waiter was attentive but a little pushy and recommended getting a bottle of wine if my friend and I were going to have 2 glasses each, but there was no discount. Wine list wasn't any more of a value and we enjoyed a lovely sparkling rose and a glass of white with our meals. He also pushed high priced apps and dishes. Last odd thing, menu didn't state fries came which clams (buried underneath) and had it I might have opted for something else.
Always good, this round a quick early dinner with a long time colleague. Oysters/Clams/Crudo what's not to like. A little extra from the kitchen.
Wonderful time! Excellent service, menu, and cocktails.
Being connected to Commonwealth Hotel is perfect when we stay at hotel. Hotel and restaurant are our favorite places when we come to Boston from Marthas Vineyard for doctors appointments or just a getaway weekend. Michelle has been our waitress often and she’s fabulous.
Perfect and best customer service
This place has great oysters, they really do... but, that's about it.
I have given this restaurant several tries before writing this review. My experience has been mediocre to poor each time. Boston is a city with great seafood in it, so nobody should have to put up with the attitude that the people at Long Island Creek Oyster Bar have.
They make me feel like they're doing me a favor by letting me dine there. There are a few friendly folks, but overall from hostess to waitress and from bartender to busboy, this overpriced establishment is not welcoming toward the patrons who decide to spend $34 on a lobster roll.
I would say the cocktails and the oysters are by far and away the best things here. So, if you want to grab oysters and a drink after work with a colleague, this would be a great spot if you didn't have to call or make a reservation two weeks in advance.
If what you're looking for is fantastic seafood and cocktails with friendly and attentive service, I would suggest going nearby Select Oyster Bar, and forgetting all about Long Island Creek Oyster bar.
Excellent meal. Waiter very knowledgeable about choice of oysters. Chowder was quite smoky, but very good. Lobster roe pasta was phenomenal.
Excellent service!! I have some uncommon food allergies, and everyone was so attentive and responsive.
Usually love this place but they missed on the blue crab risotto. This is pretty rare for them; perhaps it was just an off night or a new sous chef
Oyster novice here, so the waitress offered a chef’s selection and we ended up with a great mix of flavors. Everything else was delicious as well. Highly recommend.
Brussels in the lobster roe pasta were out of place
First time and will definitely return. Having heard raves about Row 34, I booked here not realizing that it was the same team behind it. Phenomenal oysters - of course - great service, spirits and everything else was really top notch. Among the best meals I've ever had in BOS.
great if you love oysters it is GREAT. If you do not, there are better choices
One of the best sea food places well beyond the Boston area. The oysters and fish never disappoint.
The night was running right on schedule so we were able to be seated upon arrival for our reservation without having to wait! (We were even given an option as to where we wanted to be seated, which is always nice.) The waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and wine selections. She had a great sense of humor and we left ICOB satisfied with the exceptional service and delicious food.
Perfect date, one of the best experiences in a very long time
The lobster roe noodles were extremely salty. Fish and chips were pretty bland. Drinks were good.
