Iron Gate Kitchen is the brand new, purpose-built restaurant at Iron Gate Estate in the Hunter Valley. Our restaurant showcases fresh, seasonal produce and bold Iberian flavours. Executive Chef Joey Ingram’s relaxed, rustic approach to Mediterranean cuisine is designed for sun-drenched dining, with a focus on wood, smoke, fire and the grill. The menu follows Mediterranean tradition—designed to share, encouraging guests to slow down and savour the afternoon. Harry and the team looked after us superbly. We revelled in trying many of the dishes, ordering several from each section of the menu, with the menu lending itself to sharing. All plates were delicious and very well executed, and the pace of the dishes coming out was great for a long lunch. Personal highlights were the humble but mighty corn ribs, lobster empanadas and the pork belly. We enjoyed several glasses of the Portero and Tempranillo, as well as a glass of Fenix with our mains. This was all topped off with several desserts to finish, with the 15 year PX pairing wonderfully with the cheesecake. Great to have an exciting and vibrant lunch venue in the Hunter. We will be back many times for sure!

I recently celebrated my birthday at Iron Gate, and it was nothing short of amazing! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality that set the tone for a perfect evening. The food was absolutely delicious. Every dish was packed with flavor, beautifully presented, and clearly made with quality.

For a restaurant that had been open for 3 weeks, it was busy and the food was delicious. However there were some operational issues that need ironing out. The bathrooms needed attention (which we told them about) and the service was friendly but a little chaotic. We were only given food menus, and had to ask about drinks menu. We ordered a bottle for the table, and the waitress came over with an already opened bottle and started pouring. When we did get the bottle we ordered, it wasn't placed on ice, near our table, but on a shelf, near the back of the pizza oven. (Not a good spot for bubbles). They only filled our glasses up once and we came away not knowing if we finished the bottle we paid for. (It was still sitting on the shelf!). Food was good and the menu catered for everyone.

Beautiful spot and service. Food was atrociously bad though :( very oily and not fresh produce. Didn’t finish any dish we ordered and left feeling quite sick (I tend to have a sensitive stomach when food is not fresh)

The staff were friendly & professional, Harry in particular. We had the tasting menu and it was delicious. The ambience & views are lovely! We had the Iron Gate wines and we can highly recommend. We will definitely be back.

Really love this new venue in the wine country dining scene. The Friday night feast is great value, especially when paired with the complimentary bottle of wine. The food was delicious and generous, and the floor staff efficient, friendly… but you would expect that with Harrison leading the front of house team. We look forward to trying it out for breakfast.
