Located on Charleston's Upper King Street, Indaco (Italian for "indigo") serves rustic Italian cuisine. Wood-fired pizzas, hand-crafted pastas, housemade salami and cured sausages fill the restaurant's menu which can be enjoyed family-style or a la carte. With community tables, an open kitchen, and a comfortable atmosphere, Indaco can accommodate 100 guests for a casual night of food and drinks. The wine list is focused on affordable Italian varietals, the Negroni cocktail is on tap, and the fresh sodas are made in-house. The massive wooden doors on Upper King Street are your first indication that Indaco is different from the typical Charleston restaurant. Rustic details continue inside with butcherblock tables, lime-wash walls, and white brick. An open kitchen with nearby community tables lets interested diners keep an eye on the action inside the kitchen. Outside, a patio puts you streetside to watch Upper King Street's vibrant nightlife scene.

    This was our second visit to Indaco and it was very nice. Had to wait a very long time for dessert but otherwise it was all good.

    I will start by saying that Indaco is one of our favorite restaurants in Charleston and we dine here at least once every time we come to Charleston. This visit, while the food was at the expected level of yummy, the service was unbelievably bad. Our server seemed completely uninterested in us and was unnaturally slow to respond with taking orders or serving drinks. Our spritz were served with zero garnish, my husband’s drink was served differently than ordered, and my son’s iced tea was completely opaque. We did not even bother commenting on my husband‘s drink, but my son‘s tea was gross. The server’s explanation as he left the obviously day old tea on the table: “we’re brewing now”. Bad service is just bad and it left us with an overall meh feeling. Hard to say if today’s experience was just a one off, but we definitely noticed that the restaurant was only about 25% full when usually Sunday lunch is completely packed. Not sure we will be back.

    I just have to say once again you guys knocked it out of the park for a birthday dinner — a card, flowers and a sweet treat — you spoil us! Thank you again to your amazing manager, our waitress and kitchen staff for a deeelicious meal for a small family birthday dinner for our daughter who happened to make it home from college for the night. We greatly appreciate your team and as always, we will be back😊

    The pizza topping combination was to die for! We had the fall /squach/sweet potato with caramelized onion and it was heavenly. Also really enjoyed the sweet potato filled pasta with balsamic glaze although it was sweeter than expected. Wonderful cocktails as well!!
