Dinner was exceptional! The risotto melted in my mouth, was rich and decedenct, everything you would want in that type of dish. The shaved black truffles enhanced the aroma of the dish and elevated the flavor profile to the next level.
My friend, a 72 Italian lady from Rome who is VERY particular about her pasta, was enchanted with the bucatini pomodoro. Commenting about the homemade freshness and perfect balance of tomatoes and heavy cream.
We were too stuffed for any sweet treats, but next time I'll try to restrain myself with the earlier courses so I can conclude my meal properly!

I’ve eaten in many of the finest restaurants throughout Italy, and like to think I have a discerning palate. With that, I can say that il Ritorno’s Bucatini Pomodoro w/ Fresh Basil, Ligurian Olive Oil and Burrata is the best tomato-based pasta dish that I’ve had in the entire Tampa Bay Area! Well done Chef!
Everything was absolutely wonderful! The atmosphere was perfect. The service was attentive and personable. I felt like our server truly wanted us to have a fantastic experience and we did. Everything we ate was delicious. The cocktails were balanced. It was fun to watch the going-ons in the kitchen. We will definitely be back. This is one of the best, if not the best, restaurant in St. Pete. Kudos to their entire staff for a memorable experience!
Our waitress was a delight! Food was okay for the price point and has had some misses in recent visits. Still a solid place and the industry is going through some tough spots, so be flexible.
Il Ritorno was recommended by a local while we were here. Everything was excellent! The service, atmosphere, ambiance, etc. What was incredible was the food. This is not your average Italian restaurant. The food was imaginative, beautiful, and incredibly delicious. Highly recommend!
We wanted to do the six course tasting menu. One of my guests has limitations of what he will eat. By example, no seafood or tomatoes. The server said it was a blind taste menu and she could not offer any insight. I asked instead of all five ordering taste menu, could we do 4 and he order off menu. She said tasting menu required all at table order it. Frankly this seemed unresponsive to food preferences or likes. We ordered five tasting menus. Caviar, Sashimi and tomatoes galore. The beef dish work but all other course he could not eat. Our total spend that night was $1,000 for five. Most disappointed at the lack of flexibility for one diner out of five. Food was very good. Wish we had Joe as our server, maybe he would have been able to assist more in this situation.
Consistently amazing. My favorite restaurant by far. Food is creative and delicious. The service is excellent as well. Our server was Gabrielle and she took great care of us including serving my birthday gelato!

These guys do an awesome job front to back. Most everything on the menu is unique and it changes with the seasons. You can't go wrong here for any type of occasion. I think this our fourth time here and it will stay in our rotation.
Our server, Dana, was awesome. The food was exceptional. Quite loud in the front part of the restaurant. They could benefit from some sound dampening materials.
One of the more sophisticated meals I have eaten in Florida. The chef has imagination, verve and achieves powerful flavors. Outside of Miami it is rare to eat outside the limited range of taste (at Table) midwesterners in particular and retirees in general will tolerate.Even many Floridan chefs who are supposed to be creative are aware of this and cook down in observance of its economic impact. This is the real deal for those ready to expand their food boundary. Oh, the service is professional and the crowd is eclectic.

This is a restaurant for all occasions. The cuisine is the best in Tampa Bay. It’s our most favorite restaurant. The service is impeccable. The wine & drink selections are excellent & the ambiance is fantastic but none of this can upstage the cuisine. David Benstock, Executive Chef and Owner of Il Ritorno is so active in every aspect of the cuisine and your dining experience. Whether you are choosing from the ever changing menu (though he manages to leave some favorites on) or you do the tasting menu… you will be “wowed.” We’ve traveled & love to eat out…and this experience ranks amongst the very best each time we dine here.
I would compare their risotto to my most favorite in Italy & equally compare their Wagyu beef to that of level of culinary level of some top rate restaurants in Tokyo. As for their desserts, they are unique as all the rest. Finally & most importantly we always feel most welcomed here. So congratulations to Chef Benstock on your continued success & ultimately outdoing Chef Bobby Flay on Food Network, on his show “Beat Bobby Flay.” That truly was “Mission Impastable.”
Short rib Mezzaluna was liked by the two people who had it for dinner. My summer octopus puttanesca was too salty. Our fourth guest has the cast iron Manhattan steak which was tougher than he expected.
The special pasta and tuna dish was amazing. Our server, Joe, provided exceptional service. This is one of St. Pete's best.

I am a vegetarian and have dinner here about every 10 days. Meals and wine pairings can be truly excellent. Vegetarian tasting menu is often outstanding — well beyond anything else I’ve found in St Pete. Unfortunately kitchen will not serve some a vegetarian and others a non vegetarian tasting menu in one party — a silly inflexible policy. Reserve two tables next to one another.
We were delighted to get a reservation at this well-reviewed restaurant and what a deliciously, delightful experience. Waitperson Dayna was very on top of everything. Hubby enjoyed having a seat where he could readily watch the kitchen staff work headed by Chef-Owner David Benstock. Benstock in May had been on the "Beat Bobby Flay" TV show. We started with a Hendrick's gimlet for him and the house's gin cocktail for me, both perfect for each of us. The focaccia bread was served with an herb oil and a tallow butter. Our appetizer was a lacy looking tomato burrata, such a great combination of crunch & tomato & herbs: Beautiful presentation as the dressing was poured around it. Both of us had wine, a Super Tuscan for me and Toscana Rosso for him to go with the melt-in-your-mouth short rib mezzaluna pasta. Our last course was the pork saltimbocca, also so tasty. For dessert we had a simple affogato made with their house gelato. So looking forward to returning and one day sampling the chef's tasting.

The staff is very knowledgeable, everyone is friendly and polite. The kitchen is open so you can get a feel for the incredible passion that goes into every plate. The menu is small, but that is intentional because they do it so incredibly well. The Short Rib Mezzaluna is a favorite for many. I had the Lamb Bolognese and it is my new favorite. Everything we had was a flavor explosion. We started with the Charcuterie board and it was the best we have had. This is a must if you are a foodie! Definitely go!

First visit we wanted to try as many plates as possible. We will return. Incredible value for excel that food. Chef/Owner we walked up to tell how much we enjoy our dinner and server (Joe).

We did the chef's tasting menu and wine pairing for our anniversary. They surprised us with a glass of prosecco when we were seated. They were able to meet our dietary restrictions. The wine pairings were perfect and each course was outstanding. Couldn't believe how full we were when we left! Very much worth the entire experience.
