Il Gabbiano is an Italian Steakhouse brought to the historical waterfront district and neighborhood of the city of New Haven, Connecticut by Chef Valentino Stakaj owner of the city's iconic Adriana's on Grand Avenue and La Lupa in North Haven, Valentino has rebuilt the famous restaurant location at 501 Long Wharf Drive which overlooks the Long Island Sound. Monday to Sunday happy hour from 12:00-6:00pm drink and appetizer specials every day.

    Great view and excellent food. There were plenty of options to satisfy the whole family and it was all cooked to perfection!

    The food was fabulous! Huge portions so some went home with us. The service was impeccable! The views of the water are very nice.

    Very very loud … there was a party going on It took 15 minutes for someone to visit our table and Emma was lovely. Food was very good and served hot and abundant.

    Fantastic food. Huge portions. Very nice restaurant and nice wait staff. They were not super busy or in need of the table, but we must have been asked 10 times by at least five different people if we wanted a container for leftovers, so it felt like they were trying to get rid of us.

    While the food is good, the ambiance and noise level was terrible. Impossible to have a normal conversation at the table during our meal. Our server made an error with one of our meals, and was not terribly apologetic. And to add insult to injury, we were given the wrong table’s bill and we paid it (yes, we should have looked more closely). When our server pointed out his error, he brought the correct bill. Before we got up from the table, my bank account was charged for both tables. I was told this would be rectified by Monday (dinner was on Friday evening). The hold remained on my account for a full week. No apologies, no reparation. I was treated as if this was my fault (and my bank’s fault). The woman at the desk was not at all understanding. We will not go to this restaurant again.

    The food was very good with good size portions. While we liked our waiter, the service was incredibly slow. We were there over 3 hours with a young child. We were comped drinks without asking so we appreciated that. And the noise level was super loud. It was hard to have a conversation across the table and we were sitting in back corner.
