    Unfortunately it appears that II Fornaio has lost several steps, not just one or two. Service was great, the food not so. When pointed out the server came back and said “The Chef said it’s fine”. Glad to know he tried the food I sent back. The manager did come to the table but it was clear he was more annoyed than sincere. Check came and I pointed out that the 3% service charge was listed but there was no tip line. Our server took the check and came back and said “oh the system went down yesterday and it’s not working.” Fine left the tip in cash. They validated the parking ticket, there less than an hour. Validated ticket wouldn’t work. I called to let the restaraunt know. Their answer “ not our problem” call the parking people. It’s the machine they gave us. Overall it appears II Foraio has become yet another long time Walnut Creek establishment that has abandoned quality, service and is relying on “ first timers” to keep them busy. The 3% service charge not a big deal. I’d prefer a new menu with the added prices.

    I sent my parents here for their engagement anniversary. The service was absolutely exemplary, and the food was second to none. Highly, highly recommend.

    Food was excellent — authentic Italian. Service was outstanding — well timed and all about us (the guests). Her service was in the background, quietly insuring we were taken care of without imposing herself. Made for a memorable lunch with friends. I would also like to compliment the lovely woman who greeted and seated us — very classy. I will definitely be back soon.
