Sad to see this business closing. Was one of our favorites.
One of my most fave eateries is closing 2day. I rest reassured, that other location will continue 2 provide gr8 dining Xperiences!
Tk U 4 many years of gr8 food & lovely service! I’ll miss U all & Wish U well :)
Apparently the restaurant is closing. They were out of a number of basic dishes. Too bad.
Andres is a very likable, helpful server who is eager 2 make his guests feel welcome! The entire staff is commendable, gracious & longterm. Wishing them well as the eatery closes 2morrow Saturday...
We had reservations for 530. We called ahead and said we were stuck in a terrible traffic jam but would arrive by 545. The lady who answered the phone said “no problem at all”. We arrived at 550 pm and were not seated until 6 pm. We got water around 610 and had orders taken around 620. We indicated that we had theater tickets and needed to be done with dinner by 7 pm. The waiter said it would not be a problem.
It took 20 min to get our glasses of wine.
Two salads came after 25 min.
At 645 we asked where the food was since we had to leave at 7. The waiter said he would check. He came back at 650 and said it would be around ten min. We said that was too late. He apologized.
The food came at 7. We ate what we could in five min. The prices were high and the service was terrible. We never got any water refills.
Our bills were split equally four ways in order to get out of there faster. We have no idea what if any gratuity was automatically ordered as we never saw an itemized bill.
My three friends who were with us told me they would never come their again. I won’t either. The restaurant knew it was a theater night. The kitchen and service staff were terribly out of synch. Overall it was a horrible experience. What a disappointment.
Excellent selections on the menu & really appreciated the gluten free menu as well. Great service. Best desserts in town.
not the best version of this restaurant group. food only decent
Start with the best: the server was excellent. Patient, fast, thoughtful. Espresso was very good. Pasta dishes were also quite good, although the portion of cappellini is far too large and likely generates a ton of food waste all by itself. Appetizers: lentil soup was excellent. Calamari were dry and almost free from visible fat, and the portion was generous. We had reservations, and, a frequent complaint in many restaurants, were still shown to an uncomfortable, tiny table that would have us mostly sitting in a busy corridor. Not cool. The hostess clearly wasn't thrilled about being asked to take us to another table. Then she mumbled something about a four-seater by the window. Dropped the menus on a two-top next to (I think) a dying grizzly bear (judging from the noises he made) and disappeared. Nobody's fault that we were next to a wild animal (who proceeded to tell somebody on the phone about falling off his hotel toilet when he was drunk), but the seating could have been handled a little more professionally. Finally: there should be more meatless options.
In town from Chicago. Had the Margarita Pizza and Caesar Salad. Food was great.
Loved it. Great service and food.
I was annoyed that I made reservations a few weeks in advance as I was attending a conference in Seattle. On arrival I was advised that the restaurant would be closing and moving to another location in a few days. Because of the closing, after one glass of wine I was told they no longer had that type of wine available. I have never experienced anything like this before. I wish the restaurant had told me of the closing and more importantly the limited or inconsistent wine availability. What a terrible way to do business!
Very rude service. The rudest I’ve seen in the last 20 years. Food was also pretty bad. Would not recommend.
The restaurant is closing down in two weeks so they were out of many drink and food items listed on the menu. Additionally, there was a piece of plastic in my gelato dessert, which is unacceptable.
Service was not the best. I think the restaurant is closing which may have affected staffing. It took over five minutes for a server to come to the table. Once she came over it wasn’t as bad, but still took a while to get drinks, orders etc. Food was delicious though. The bolognese was delicious!
New waiter didn’t know ordered items were not available. Server got food mixed up. I didn’t get what I ordered even though it was on the menu. We had to wait for one person (4 of us) to get her order so the three of us had cool food. The server did his best. That being said, the food was good!
Our out of town guests enjoyed their meal, so we felt better when the bill came.
The mushroom pasta was quite good but the rest was only ok. The prices are high enough that I shouldn't be describing the food as only ok. The restaurant is big and open so it's not even a great atmosphere.
Matredi was unprofessional and dishonest. Wait to order and receive food was excessive. My wife’s meal was fine. My veal was grisly and artichokes were tough and rough with no flavor. Waiters
Were hurried - and restaurant was not even close to full, which is easy to understand considering the food and service.
They've seem to have gone downhill since the last time I dined there. The server was really scattered. His section was very busy but he acted as though it was on fire. The food was really mediocre. We had three pasta dishes and a pizza. None of it was noteworthy.
Aside from a small hygiene issue on one of the two apps plates (was sent back and credited), good meal, service and great location.
It's conveniently located in Pacific Place which is one of the places many downtown visitors park. The place feels very accommodating. Its Italian cuisine offers many different dishes other than pastas (which many other Italian places only offer). The service was quick and the food tasted extremely good! Fresh seafood and vegetables. The serving is also generous; we couldn't try their desserts because we were so full (maybe we'll reserve some room next time).
Good food and service as always. So sad it's closing.
Great waitress. Thanks again from Canada!!!
Our wait staff was very good. The food was delicious and presented nicely. The wine we selected was very good. Overall, it was a very good experience.
Good Italian food for Seattle. Server was sweet but her Italian was terrible
Love this restaurant. Celebrated Easter there and will go back again.
Food is always excellent and authentic italy. Reasonable selection of appetizers and entrees for every taste. Best is that the wait staff are knowledgeable and efficient. A favorite location for a casual meal or special occasion.
Perfect place to meet my friend from college. Calm and elegant. Love the ambiance and the food was great too!
Waiter complained to us about bartenders and prep guys; why tell the customer the restaurant is poorly managed? I don’t want to hear that.
Wife got wrong salad.
My Caesar salad was terrible: barely any dressing, croutons were huge and had an acerbic taste, had quartered hard boiled eggs which was an odd thing in a Caesar, and giant shavings of Parmesan. The whole point of using an expensive, aged and flavorful cheese like Parmesan is to maximize the flavor. It should have been half as much and finely shredded.
My rye manhattan was straight rye; I had to add ice to drink it. Putting a guy behind a bar in an apron doesn’t make him a bartender.
My pasta was great.
Took teen age kids with us. Service was great
The food from appetizer to dessert was gourmet and delicious. Service impeccable!
Very attentive wait staff
Great service and wonderful food! We enjoyed lunch!
It was great. Not many other restaurant patrons, yielding a wonderful quiet ambience. Food and wine was stellar. We sat and chatted for three hours.
Very delicious meal in a wonderful setting. We were in the upstairs room. Tiramisu was delicious too.
My wife and I overall enjoyed our dinner. We arrived on time for our reservation and were conducted to the bar area to wait. I hate the ackward moment where we interface with the Bar Staff and tell them we will just wait for our table. Anyway, we were given a table by the window, but next to the staff entrance which was very busy and detracted from our meal. Overall, the food was very good to great. We enjoyed our Carpaccio appetizer, and my wife's chicken and my pasta dish were both very good. Our Waiter was attentive but not pushy. We left happily after a satisfying cappuccino and a delicious coffee.
Ok... food kinda blah... service was very good though. Best part of meal by far was dessert
Overall, excellent service and food!
I had heard okay things about Il Fornaio and thought we’d try it out for a friend’s birthday dinner. The service was fine but the food was subpar at best and it’s way overpriced. There is significantly better Italian food in the area. I would not recommend this spot to anyone.
Great food, relaxing yet refined atmosphere. Always enjoy coming here!
I really was saddened that the menu has changed and they no longer have the butternut squash ravioli. This was one of my very favorite reasons for going here. My meal was still very good as I made an adjustment.
