Il Fornaio - Seattle Ratings and Reviews
Always like the food and he bread, but extremely disappointed they have gone to a VERY limited menu until 8pm. Won’t be going back even though it has been one of our regulars. They need to go back to a full dinner menu. Frustrated. Server was able to get two entrees of one the family favorites off the full menu for us. Very helpful.
Waitstaff had to come back 2 times and inform us that menu items were out. Waitstaff forgot twice our drink orders. They apologized for confusions and indicated it was the volume of guests. Food was good when it did arrive but portion size for cost was small
Arrived 15 minutes prior to our reservation & we were seated right away. Leisurely meal where the main server could have been a little more attentive. An entree had to be sent back due to a server/kitchen mistake (allergy), unfortunately the rest of the table were halfway through their dinner by the time the plate arrived. The establishment was very busy as it was pre-show & they are in close proximity to The Paramount. All food was fantastic & we would definitely return to give them another shot.
We had dinner at Il Fornaio before an early evening movie at the theatre upstairs. It worked perfectly for us. We had great service, ( a friendly, attentive server and his supports), a delicious meal ( we each had pasta dishes and shared a salad. ( fresh ingredients, well prepared), and had enough time to eat in a leisurely way and get to the movie with time to spare. No complaints.
New Year's Eve. Wasn't particularly busy that late, but our server was clearly tired. Took long to take our order and then told us the two meals we asked for were out, requiring another look at the menu and another long wait. Took nearly a half hour to collect our check. Not worth it.
A party of 7 were seated a half hour after the three of us and left a half hour before.
The restaurant is pretty and the Food was average-good (based on the dish) although I don't think it was worth the high price. All in all our table of 6 would have been relatively happy if the service wasn't so bad and slow. Our waitress had next to no conversation with us, would not return to our table for very long periods of time and then got our order wrong. Would like to caveat that it was NYE.. BUT... the restaurant was not that busy at all to justify the lack of service.
Service was bad. We chose a wine from their list and they were out. It took about 25 minutes to receive my cocktail , a simple Martini up. Water glasses were not refilled until we requested. Olive oil & balsamic for bread was never replenished. My husband requested a cup of minestrone for him to eat while my son & I ate our appetizer. Soup was not brought until I had my salad and I had to remind them my husband was also having a salad. His salad arrived followed almost immediately by his entree. My husband ordered a Cannoli & an adult hot chocolate for dessert, he received the hot chocolate but never received the Cannoli, luckily we were not charged for it and at this point we were so frustrated that we just wanted to pay our bill and get out of there. We have been coming to this restaurant for years but this time the food, presentation & taste, as well as the service were so bad that we are seriously considering not returning.
Maybe we went on an atypical night, but we were surprised by the disorganized service provided by our waiter. After we ordered, someone brought bread but then it wasn't until our main dish arrived that our waiter noticed that he had not provided the plate of olive oil for dipping the bread. At tables around us, waiters were providing oil immediately after bread was delivered to the table. Second thing to happen was we ordered soup but none came. First food to arrive at our table, after the basket of bread, was the main dish. We were puzzled but our waiter never stopped by long enough for us to ask about the fate of our soup. Fortunately no soup was on the bill so we did not have to argue that point. After we were finished with our dessert, we waited much longer than other tables before getting our bill. Two tables of 6 near us were seated after us and were through paying their bill before we received our bill, even though the tables of 6 had appetizers (their appetizer came), main dish, and dessert. We understand things do not always go according to plan but three things amiss in one dinner impacts the experience. The food itself was good and the person bringing the food from the kitchen was exceptional.
Have been here several times in the past, this time for Christmas Eve; by 6:30 PM they were out of 2 menu items, server did not communicate this until after we tried to order; would prefer he told us before we made our selections. Server timing was way off, our hot appetizer was served cold. This restaurant does not live up to it's past experiences, will not go again.
I mistakenly booked the wrong "Il" Italian restaurant for our traditional Christmas Eve dinner (usually an elegant dining establishment). When we arrived, seeing it's in the Seattle Pacific Place mall, I was worried it was going to be a bland evening. But don't judge a book by it's cover. On a magical, snowy Christmas Eve night in Seattle, the restaurant was warm, elegant, great ambiance, lighting and decorated elegantly for Christmas. They even had a favorite 2013 California red on the wine list so we splurged on the bottle. Dinner was great. Our server extremely attentive and even had an assistance. Thank you, Il Fornaio!
We gathered here Christmas Eve. We had never been here before but we will be back. It’s a great place to eat and the atmosphere was great. The staff was fast and friendly. The food was great I had the spaghetti and meatballs which was great. And the bread pudding I didn’t notice that it had a coffee ingredient I’m not a coffee drinker. Other than that it was great give them a try and enjoy yourself!
Our server Hunter was SO nice!! We ordered Bruschetta to start and he offered it for free since there had been a bit of a wait to be greeted (which we didn’t even really notice!) Very hospitable service and yummy food. Family friendly (we had our three young kids with us) Thank you! A
This was a special Christmas date night for my husband and I in the city before a show at the Paramount Theatre. Great ambiance even more beautiful decorated for the holidays. We mentioned our after dinner plans to our server just to make sure we wouldn’t be late and she did an excellent job of timing our meal perfectly so we didn’t feel rushed through our dinner or rushed to get to the theatre. Food was delicious, can’t wait to go back again!!
We’ve been to I’ll fornaio numerous times when my girls were young. It was almost a tradition every holiday. The service was a little slow and I’m sure because they were busy. It took awhile for our dinner to arrive so we ate so much bread! I love having wine with my pasta so I ate slow while waiting but the wine never showed up. It took awhile for the server to check our table and when asked he said he had forgotten. My husband canceled it and had to pack my canneloni to go.
We arrived on time for our reservation and only waited a few minute past. But our entre's did not show up until 6:45 and we had concert tickets at Benaroya Hall which we had let our waiter know. This was not his fault this was the kitchen. The couple next to us had to leave their entre's because they arrived so late. I could not in good conscious recommend this prior to a theatre or concert night unless you gave them at least two hours so you wouldn't risk being late. The food was okay the broccoli in my dish was almost raw. could have been steamed longer. This was not my first time but will wait quite awhile before returning. The waiter was actually really great and very attentive and did all he could.
This was the second evening in a row that i dined at Il Fornaio. The previous evening I dined early and had fabulous service and the food was fantastic. This evening we dined at 5:30 and felt that our waiter may have had too many tables as we waited quite a bit between courses. That being said, i have dined here often and have never had this experience before so I'll definitely be back.
The service was good; the food was great. Our only issue: There was an ad for "buy a $100 gift certificate and get a $20 gift certificate." We asked if we could get that and use it for our meal. Maybe our waiter didn't understand - didn't really hear what we said. But he said yes. Turned out: no. The $20 is only usable for a few months next year and I don't know when we'll be back - we don't eat on the West Side much. The manager, however, did right by us and in a timely fashion. We were headed to a play at 5th Ave Theater and, even with this snafu, we made it in time. :)
Seven of us, all family members, chose Il Fornaio for a family Christmas dinner. We have a long-standing tradition of an annual trip "downtown" to see Santa Claus, ride together on the Westlake Square carousel, and have dinner, in the past probably most often at Hamanasu (the former Benihana). We've also spent a couple of those dinners at Il Fornaio.
This time several of us once again were disappointed in the food quality and in some degree with the service (primarily from our waiter.) We spent what we felt was a whole lot of money for what netted out as pretty average dining.
Next year, if all goes well, we will no doubt be back enjoying the consistently excellent food and particularly super service at Hamanasu.
The calamari was an excellent appetizer, perfectly cooked. All of our main dishes were excellent and the petto di pollo al peperoncino was especially tasty. It had ust enough spice to provide a nice zing every now and then.
The service was fine, a little slow on refills but otherwise good.
Overall we had an amazing meal and highly recommend Il Fornaio.
Good location for Pacific place. Restuarant has 2 level, with the booking part upstairs, looked like informal dining downstairs, but I didnt get the option to select when I booked on Open table. Was very busy at 5:30 with diners already eating. Table bit cramped against the waiters stand/bar.
Food was good, pasta better then the pizza, but slow in arriving probably due to the number of diners. Service was only ok - we told the waiter that we would want coffee after finsihing our wine, but in the meantime he brought the bill anyway!
We had our Company Holiday Lunch, the space was adequate and the food was good. Apparently they had combined the upstairs and downstairs menus, so some items on their website were not available, which was unfortunate, but not the end of the world. Over all it was a delightful lunch with my team.
Service was friendly but a little slow. Food was good but not awesome. Nothing terrible about it but probably not worth making an effort to get back there. (Sorry it wasn't better news.).
We went to see Holiday Inn at the 5th Ave after dinner - that was a lot of fun.
Brought my family there for a pre theatre dinner to kick off our Christmas celebrating. The service was excellent from our server to EVERYONE on staff we came in contact with. The food and drinks were also excellent. They put us all in a great mood and set the pace for our very enjoyable family outing.
