It was very good overall. The food were all very good, though the Ceasar’s salad was just good. But the main dishes, the calamari, and desserts were very good. Our server Linda was outstanding! Ambience and cleanliness excellent. Noise level was quiet.
Food is delicious 😋 and the service is great 👍 .
We were celebrating our daughter’s 21st birthday. They stored her cake for us until it was time to cut the cake!
Phenomenal experience at Il Fornaio last night. The waiter was so professional and courteous the entire evening. The waiter is worth the trip back alone. Food was great, fast service, good cocktails.
Clean, friendly, great service, great food. Ideal for business meeting.
The food was mediocre at best. Lasagna tasted ok.
Bread $2.00 charge was off putting for an Italian restaurant. I have always received bread without an added charge (at least for the first round)
Bread quality was excellent! Vinegar was cheap tasting.
Long Island ice teas were good and at a decent price.
We expected a better quality of food at this spot.
Service was so so.

The food, as usual, was great. Our waiter was new and friendly, so friendly , in fact, that he often spent considerable time chatting with patrons that it took a little while to get his attention. Il Fornaio is a nice place for a celebration like a birthday or anniversary.
My mother in-law took me there for my birthday
Worst customer service. I have ever received at bay restaurant. From service to servers. Ambiance terrible. Never going back.
I don’t have much to write but it seems I have to write something in order to go to next steps or give up. Over all experience is good.
for the price the food has to get better - sauce taste like it came from a can.
Service was very slow during dinner. I’ve never experienced this during lunch hours. Food was mediocre and not all the level in usually is. One entree was inedible.
Excellent . Our table was away from others out on the patio. The waiter was very knowledgeable & attentive. The food was just what we hoped for. Overall very pleased!
Delicious food, great service and a nice atmosphere. The place started rapidly filling up while we were there for a 5:00 pre-meeting dinner and it was quiet then.
Menu is limited. Should have a sandwich option for lunch
Food and service were very good. Nice ambiance. Would definitely recommend.
Food was bland and no salt and pepper on the table. Had the calamari which lacked seasoning. Main I had Lasagna which was bland and soupy and no caramelization on the cheese. Surprised that they don't offer grated parmesan or fresh cracked pepper. I don't think the cooks tastes their food before it goes out. We did have a spill at the table and the staff was quick and friendly to clean it up. Overall the service was ok. Wasn't engaging, it was our anniversary and put it in our reservation notes but no one mentioned why we were there. Not a place I would recommend for special occasions. Just a casual lunch. Having worked in fine dining restaurants the devil is in the details. We ended with the tiramisu which was really nice and so was the vanilla ice cream. Those were the best parts of the meal.
4 stars - 4 out of 5 on all fronts (limited vegetarian options) :) Will come back to try other things on the menu :)
Lunch was delicious, but the traffic noise on the patio was distracting.
White wine was warm
Pizza tasted like a 5.00 frozen pizza, very disappointing.
Would not return
The Bolognese was off, pasta stuck together. Service was efficient, but our waitress seemed to wander and was late on items. Was better before.
Very nice, calm colors and decor makes a nice place to talk and and joy a great meal without too much going on around you.
I’m at this location quite a bit! One of my favorite spots!
I must say, the young lady who had our table, have us the best attention, knowledge, service I’ve ever had here!
She was truly awesome!
Per usual, food is excellent!
We had reservations. When we got there, just about every table was open. Where did they seat us? Right next to the waiter's work station. Service was spotty, food was unremarkable. And, bread's extra? I wouldn't recommend this restaurant.
Our server was great! Food was amazing! We had a great time!
Very Friendly staff, who remember you. Fast service.
Always great! I eat here 2-3 times a week! Great bar also!
I tried a new dish this time ( Misc. prawns, salmon, scallops, squids and a variety of vegetables) and I was pleasantly surprised about how delicious every bite was!
I really enjoyed the meal and cannot remember eating something that good in other restaurants. My congratulations to the Chef.
My wife and I eat out 2-3 times a week and I am positive that Il Fornaio is going to see frequent visits from me and friends.
Keep the good work.
Second time to restaurant, better service this time but also came in on Monday weeknight so not as crowded. Food was excellent and loved food choices. Waiter was attentive. Nice ambiance, easy parking. Waiter surprised us with nice tiramisu slice with candle to celebrate our 25th anniversary even though we were also was ordering dessert. We brought our teen daughter bc she likes the food there too and I felt bad if I left her home.
Nice! Great service and food was excellent! A tad pricey.
Food wasn’t very hot, special wasn’t as described. Pork tenderloin with a demi glaze. Didn’t see or taste the demi glaze. Daughters gnocchi was very good, Ragu was very salty. Service after meal was very slow. Took nearly as much time to check out as it did to eat. Eaten here several times and have never felt the need to post a review. Was celebrating Fathers Day with my daughter.
Booked outdoor seating, however, was only told when arrived that the patio was reserved for a party. Service was not optimal- took a while to get drinks (cocktails and water) and appetizer was forgotten (but provided complimentary later). Food and drinks were delicious. Staff very friendly and courteous. Accommodated specific program on the tv. Overall a very nice lunch!
Lite crowd. Had a rev and immediately placed in a corner next to the kitchen.. asked to be moved.
Placed at a table in the opposite corner.
Slow service, had to ask for my wine to be delivered. Wife’s food was well received, mine was obviously under a heat lamp and pasta was hard with very little taste.
Wanted to try another location versus the one in SJC..
DO NOT RECCOMEND THIS LOCATION
I have been dining at this chain since 30 some years ago. They are never a disappointment.
We had an outoors reservation, but no table was available, so the manager moved a table from the indoors. Our server misunderstood my partner's entree order, so I ate before my partner did; however, our server not only comp'd my partner's order but delivered a complimentary gelato. Business is clearly accelerating, and we saw many unfamiliar faces among the wait staff. The noise level is greater now than it has been for the last year. The menu is still a bit smaller than pre-pandemic, but what is on the menu is delicious. We still recommend Il Fornaio.
Food quality and level obviously declined. The antipasto served was burnt, yes it's crispy as described, but burnt wasn't in the description. The baked potato slices side were mushy, rather than crunchy on the outside. And, the gnocchi was basically mashed potatoes with shape, not pasta.
Definitely not restaurant grade food.
The redeeming qualities are ambiance and service. I wouldn't come back with food at this quality.
We had a large group of family and friends. just great food and servicers were awesome.
Quality of food was moderate. The seafood dish I ordered had too much butter. Brussels Sprouts appetizer was below average and not cooked well. Portions of some. of the pasta dishes were very small.
