Wonderful food, service and atmosphere. Close to SFJAZZ too!
Caprese, bruschetta, lamb chops and saltamboca. - all delicious
This will be our go-to spot for before SFJazz concerts. Close enough to walk, but away from the mob! The veal saltimbocco as well as the marsala version were terrific. Price reasonable and service personable.
A wonderful neighborhood feel, great quality of food and preparation. We were made to feel very welcome.
Very nice Italian restaurant with home made pasta which was excellent. Priced very reasonable and it was not very crowded. We will be back.
No check for vaccination proof upon entry, blasting loud rock music, my boyfriend's bench seat next to the front door was propping the door open, as he found out when he tried to move his seat so it wasn't crooked and three feet away from the table and caused the door to close.
It got worse with a mixed green salad that was too salty to eat, our waitress never checked how our salads were, and then argued with me when I said it was so salty it was inedible and hurt my mouth. More disagreement occurred and we left without trying the "fusilli" we ordered and cancelled, but it looked like rotini not fusilli.
Our food was excellent , fresh , and timely. Wine was a disappointment. The whole restaurant is in need of a deep cleaning. Service was very good, friendly, knowledgeable, not intrusive but there when needed. When the door is left open the traffic noise is bothersome. Could be a great place if it were just freshened up with attention to detail.
Gracious waitress, delicious food, good wine, and cozy atmosphere.
Delicious homemade pastas and incredible value for SF
Great little place where everything is really good especially the pizza & pasta
The food was delicious, and our server (the older Italian lady) was so nice and friendly and always made sure I had everything I need. I can’t wait to come here again with family and friends.
As always this owner run truly authentic restaurant did not disappoint! Great food and the ownership increases your feel of being in actual Italy for dinner.
we had a delicious meal and almost a private dining room. The staff was great!
Really tasty food and wonderful service. I just wished they would close the door as there were lots of mosquitoes coming in
This is one of the best, truly traditional Italian restaurants in the City. Located in the amazing Fell St area, it’s a small gem in a big city. The owners are from old Italy and great everyone like their premiere guests. The food quality and portion is hard to beat!
Had a genuinely lovely time here on Valentine's Day. Attentive service, delicious Italian comfort food, and hefty portions all made it a very pleasant dining experience.
Amazing food for an awesome price! We will be back!
Delicious food and great service. Despite sitting outside in the cold due to COVID restrictions, we had such a lovely time enjoying a very homey Italian meal over a bottle of wine. We felt immediately welcomed as soon as we arrived and very-well attended to. We will definitely be back!
Il Borgo is a wonderful, old school, San Franciscan neighborhood Italian restaurant. The food is solidly good. Support this local treasurer.
I love this place and come back often. Simple straight forward delicious Italian food and friendly staff in a small cozy place with charming ambiance at reasonable pricing.
Love this place
Been coming here for 15 years
Thank you Il Borgo
Super responsive to dietary restrictions- charming couple and a charming building
Our hostess/waitress simply made the evening one of the most enjoyable dinners I have had in San Francisco. The food was very tasty and extremely well priced. Overall 10/10... we will be returning soon!
Really enjoyed first visit and will be back. The service was friendly and personal. The food was delicious and well recieved by all 6 people. The price point was refreshingly low. Penne, lasagnette, housemade fettuccine (fantastic), and spaghetti were fresh and flavorful. Wines were delicious. Nice neighborhood gem we don't wanna lose. Worth a visit.
Great food, nice ambiance and fantastic service - what more could you ask for?!
Very Italian, very tasty, very affordable. Multiple antipasti, lots of vino rosso, and to each his/her pasta, and we were out the door for only $40 per person.
Food is amazing - service is very slow. Will be coming back, just don't be in a rush.
Unpretentious, excellent food, great value. This is a place I got to frequently before seeing a concert or opera.
I have been go to Il Borgo for years. Great Italian food, GF as well. Don't miss it
Wonderful restaurant with great ambiance, service and food. A perfect place if you are seeing a show near by.
Il Borgo is one of our favorite Italian restaurants. The food and service are always excellent.
Food made me and my boyfriend so sick. Do not get the carbonara
Great neighborhood gem with authentic pastas and friendly, professional service. Casual, good value. Not trendy or likely to be popular with those who want a vibrant bar scene. Just good food at a good price.
The food was terrible. My dish looked and tasted bland.
Wonderful food, quaint hole in the wall restaurant. Some of the best Italian food I have had the pleasure to eat. Super reasonable prices. Wonderful service. Certainly not fancy dancy - ambiance is more the local Mom & Pop restaurant. Try it, you'll like it ❣️
Meh. Dull wine list. Only vaguely clean. Food passable.
Homey, almost homely place which has its' charms after all the sleek places. Family owned and served-sometimes underserved. Il Borgo salad is good-my Lobster ravioli was Meh! could have been anything inside, no lobster taste. Generally pedestrian food. However the homemade gelato was superb, pour espresso over it and the best affogato I've had in SF. So salad main gelato and tip will run you $35. You judge whether that's good for mediocre Italian.
Great spot for great Italiano essenziale!
Kind of a dingy interior - needs some freshening, but the staff are friendly and, for the prices - decent food.
We had a waiter. whose first day it was; he handled it well. Nice and personable, and the food
was very good. I'd go back.
