Great food and service. Will be coming back soon!
Waited 30 minutes after our booking time but still a massive queue ahead of us with waiters telling us to move to back of the queue when asked about getting seated. Walked away eventually.
We’ve been recommended this place from a friend and we totally loved it.
Probably the first Italian restaurant where I felt to be really in Italy.
We tried a bit of everything, like pizza , risotto , pasta and grilled fish and everything was delicious and tasty.
The service was also great and very attentive.
Thank you so much to our waiter Danilo which took care and offer us the best experience.
We will definitely come back!
Excellent restaurant and excellent staff. The food was amazing and the staff caring was amazing. Even closed to the end of the day the service was superb.
I love sea food so all the food I got it was sea food and it was amazingly tasty. I would definitely come back
Nice outdoor dining facility with a few heaters
Waiters wear masks over their mouths and not their nose.
Do it or don't.
Charged me for rum they'd ran out of and was twice the price of the one I had. If I'd been on a first date I wouldn't have had the nerve to try and get them to refund. Which they turned into a massive hassle and made me come inside to do it.
1 staff member was very friendly but smoked a couple of meters from our table on a break. The rest were rude or completely ignored your existence.
The food portions were great, and the restaurant is in a fantastic location. There are lovely views from the river, and the outdoor dining area is super romantic. The heaters definitely come in handy on a cold Spring evening! On the other hand, the service was quite abrupt and abrasive which was a bit of a damper on the evening.
Restaurant was over booked and the customer service they provided was terrible. They double booked tables and wasn’t paying attention to customers who hadn’t ordered. When I wanted to order, the waiter was told to come back to my table later after I had waited 20 mins to even be seated and a further 20 minutes to be served. When I told the waiter I was leaving because of the long wait they didn’t care and sat another couple at our table without even disinfecting it.
Lovely buzz. Attentive service for our table of 4 despite a packed outdoor area and heaters were welcome. Food delicious
Unfortunately had to wait nearly an hour for our table despite booking it for 7.30. There was a big queue of people outside who had booked waiting to be seated. Chatted to one of the waiters who said they some staff hadn't turned up for work so understandably short staffed & stressed. After finally sitting we were well attended to and didn't have to wait too long for our food. The food was great no complaints and the atmosphere is nice down by the boats. Pretty freezing only a few tables with heaters nearby but they did provide blankets. Overall enjoyable but you need to be patient!
We had a booking at 1930 but had to wait in a long queue until 8pm until we were given our table as they restaurant had overbooked and didn’t have enough chairs. One table of 4 were waiting since 1830 and were seated at 8pm. The food was great but service wasn’t as attentive as I would have liked. I asked for a side bowl twice and it didn’t come. Would go back but on a less busy day.
Outside seating on a very cold night - not for me
Under very challenging circumstance, the staff performed very well.
enjoyed he food and looking forward to returning - inside
Echoing what others have said the service was pretty shocking. Although the food was really quite good, the restaurant was clearly understaffed and overbooked. We had a 40 min wait for a table with no one greeting us or explaining the situation to anyone in the massive queue of people all with reservations. Our waiter was rude and standoffish and clearly would rather have been anywhere else. Disappointing
Excellent food and service
Good food, great wine selection and attentive service! Love the location and the atmosphere and will definitely make this a regular spot
Took half an hour for our drinks and food order to be taken after asking several times then 2 hours for our main course to arrive. It only arrived very shortly after requesting the bill because we were fed up. No real apology or exemption except a free drink. Food was bland and overall a waste of time & money.
We arrived at the scheduled time 18:00, waiting in front of the Maitre d’ and was completely ignored. Then it got to 18:20 I got fed up, put my mask on and went inside the restaurant to see what was going on. He said that he will be with us in a minute. 15 minutes then goes by which takes us to 18:35. We get grunted at by the Maitre d’ I repeat my name and say we had a booking at 18:00. He takes us to the table and leaves instantly. About 10 minutes later a waiter comes to take our order, we order our drinks and starters and then my partner asked if he can have a bit more time to decide on his main. The waiter then rolls his eyes and said something so quickly we couldn’t understand, then there was a back and forth of we need more time, to only come to the resolution that we aren’t allowed more time because that would be inconvenient for the kitchen. So my partner was rushed to order something he didn’t want. Drinks arrived 10 minutes later. Then starters arrived which were nice. This is about 19:20 now. Then our food arrives at 19:50, which was a calzone (which was deconstructed with the sauce outside of it - cold) and a pasta. The pasta was nice but who would serve a hot calzone paired with cold tomato sauce to dip. Completely defies the point of a calzone.
By the time our food was finished we were excited to leave the restaurant and just go home, not the best experience for people who have been looking forward to a meal out for almost 5 months. It’s a shame because they do have some real potential, I completely understand that they were busy but all we needed was a “sorry guys, first Saturday back and it’s super busy, would you mind waiting”. Having worked in restaurants for the most part of 10 years I can say their service was truly lacking.
Overall not a great experience. My girlfriend and I arrived on time for our reservation but took about 25 mins to be seated so we had to wait outside. Once seated, the waiter serving us took a long time to come to take our order, and when he did, he was incredibly rude when I tried to help my girlfriend to order (we were ordering food to share) and insulted me in front of her. He then cut his finger and left blood on everything he touched including the table and wine bottle, but didn’t clean it up, which was particularly unpleasant.
Food was ok - the truffle ravioli was actually really enjoyable but the seafood linguine wasn’t anything special, and given the poor service we had received up to this point, it sadly didn’t help our attitude towards it.
It has to be said, a second waiter took over and took our plates and payment and he was exceptionally friendly and vastly improved our experience, which was a nice change following the incompetence and rudeness of his colleague.
Overall, it was a bit of a shame as the outside seating area is a charming space and we were hoping for a nice evening, but was unfortunately heavily tarnished by the service and average food. Probably wouldn’t recommend it and would say il bordello round the corner is an infinitely better Italian.
We arrived at the restaurant 5 minutes before our booking, and were faced with a 40 people queue infront of us, who had also all booked a table. The restaurant did not have any tables and did not acknowledge any of us waiting outside.
We waited for over 35 minutes until we gave up. I'm very disappointed that even with a booking, they were unable to seat us.
We had booked, turned up and they had given our table away so had to queue for an hour. The food turned up cold, our mains took an hour and a half to come.
This place is by the dock and has a nice outdoor seating we ordered mushroom ,fries and veg Pasta. All the food tasted great. The wine was also good and we enjoyed it.
It was the first weekend of pubs opening back again so I think it was understaffed as we had to wait in the start but once we had the attention of one serving we were treated well.
The place also allows pets. We enjoyed our time here. Would definitely recommend.
Best Italian restaurant around.
So helpful and made every effort to make it fun in difficult circumstances. Excellent food and service. Get along and support them.
True Italian spirit in this local restaurant with very helpful staff.
AMAZING AS ALWAYS. Food amazing, staff amazing, atmosphere amazing I love it
Very tasty food. Went here to celebrate a work promotion with my girlfriend. Waiting staff were lovely and friendly. They provided lots of guidance on the food and service was fast but not imposing. Large portions too!
We went on Valentine’s Day which obviously was busy. The food was very tasty - especially the caponata. I’m italian and I would absolutely recommend it.
The staff is really nice and polite.
The only negative point is that we had to wait about 45 minutes between the starters and the main course (and as it was a set menu I would expect it to take way less) - but then again, Valentine’s was a busy day.
Will definitely go back again.
A pleasant dining experience. It made Valentine’s Day special. Attentive staff and good food.
Waited over an hour for our main and when cane was not nice at all
Good friendly restaurant. Will also let you take time to eat and not rush you.
Been here a few times now never disapointed. Will certainly be going again.
We went at noon the day after boxing day so the restaurant was literally empty apart from us. It is hard to comment on ambiance and service, although obviously we were served quickly and efficiently.
The food quality was really good. We had a selection of starters and the spicy chicken penne. It tasted really good, and authentic too. I guess the location is a bit out of the way but I'd recommend visiting the restaurant if you're able to get there.
Very attentive, good food and drink
Pretender to the throne.
We are regulars at Il Bordello and had read a few positive reviews on Il bacino, Wapping Lane. Some had even compared it to the established Italian trattoria less than 500m away but that couldn’t be further from the truth.
An ominous sign was entering a restaurant on a Sunday afternoon at 13.30 to find it completely empty?
The atmosphere was sterile except for the festive soundtrack in the background but even that couldn’t make up for the dour personality of the only waiter in attendance. His attitude was just plain negative bordering on miserable.
The food was no better, scallops overcooked in their shells with a herb crust like sand. Grilled prawns overdone and chewy and minestrone that lacked any depth of flavour.
My main was monkfish dressed with mussels and a shellfish sauce. It looked great but was ice cold. It was sent back but specifically requested a fresh dish not a re-heat. It arrived and yet again it was stone cold. At this point I told the waiter to forget it. 19 minutes later it was served again but sent back.
A pasta dish that was void of any season for flavour and a veal dish much the same.
Overall 5 of us ate very little yet the bill still came to almost £200 which was a complete rip-off so we won’t be going back. Long live Il Bordello
Food was amazing and the service was very attentive. Great value for money and delicious food
Great restaurant only booked it late, the pizzas are large with plenty of filling
Fantastic service, very friendly and accommodating. Specials did make a difference, they were very tasty and good value. Great location for access to Tobacco dock.
I love this place. It reminds me, in all the best ways, of the Italian neighborhood restaurants of the 80's and 90's. With better food. Portions are huge. Welcoming and just lovely
Portions were absolutely huge! one bowl of pasta is enough for two and we ordered a pizza to share too!
Fantastic - contender for the best italian in wapping
Friendly professional service, great menu and atmosphere
