What a great local restaurant right in our back yard. Excellent service, delicious food and what a phenomenal beer menu!
Male owner was sitting at the bar the whole time downing glass after glass of red wine. Our server was great. She is the only reason i give this place 3 stars. Owners seem very removed from their customers. Very distant and phony interactions from both husband and wife owners. Bar tenders seemed stressed out that owner was sitting at bar entire time. Very phoney feelings. I dont think they will last. Will not go back.
Absolutely wonderful! The food, the atmosphere, our service and the overall experience. I have to say, everything was top notch. My photos don't do it justice, but my words I hope convince everyone to give this place a try.
Nice, casual ambiance. Food was incredible! The Mac and cheese is amazing! Great service and recommendations from our server.
Fantastic find in LI, anyone that loves food and craft cocktails should stop in! We had fantastic ribs, an authentic ahi tuna poke bowl that was as good or better than any we've had, and also had the calamari with shrimp and cherry peppers - to die for. The eclectic menu, small plates (not really) concept, and the quality of both ingredients and preparation combine extremely well in this exciting restaurant. The owner and chef were incredibly friendly and helpful, and our server was as well!! Our only complaint is that we live so far away. We'll be looking for future reasons to head to Long Island, and will always make this restaurant a stop!!
This is definitely a fun place to dine! The atmosphere was very energetic, but at times it was also difficult to follow a conversation. The food was very good and quite different—which is something we like to experience. We will be back.
Service was friendly and timely. Considering this was a busy Friday night, a great job! Drinks, food and service was excellent!
Food was delicious! The tasting plates were bigger than I anticipated!
This was our first time at Husk and Vine but it won't be our last. They change up their menu weekly so you always have a new experience and new foods to explore each week. The wait staff is amazing. They are very helpful and informative and walk you through the restaurant's approach and your dining options. We chose to try the sharable plates option - FYI - the plates are not small but they are perfect for sharing! There were two of us and we ordered 4 sharable plates and it was more than enough and delicious! Worth the visit!
We had a really fun family dinner here! Love the shared menu concept- the wings, truffle fries, sea bass and donut were fantastic! Our waitress Maria was great. Definitely recommend!!!
Six of us dined here. First, the food is delicious. We especially loved the sea bass and the calamari appetizer. The menu changes weekly, which is good and bad. If you love a dish, you may never have it again! Just a few "quirks" that give me hesitation to overwhelmingly recommend. First, they charged a 4% credit card usage supplement. We did not know this in advance, and did not have 250$ cash to pay! We have not seen this locally, and surely their fees are not 4%! Second, their prices are not inexpensive, and they DO NOT ALLOW SUBSTITUTIONS! We were happy to see an impossible burger as a vegan choice, but it came with fries. Substitution for a vegetable or salad was not allowed! (for 17$)! Finally, our daughter asked if they refilled the Diet Coke, and was told "sure", and we were charged 3$ for a second one! I might try again as the food was great-but hope they change some of these "policies"!
The food was very good and our waiter was very nice however the glasses and utensils on our table were quite dirty. One glass had lipstick and fingerprints all over it and even the waiter seemed embarrassed when we pointed it out to him.
Our server was very friendly. I looked at the menu beforehand so I had an idea of what I wanted. However, they change the menu often so I wasn’t able to have the dish I wanted. We weren’t blown away by the food but it was a cute restaurant and we would probably try it again.
Very good food and service and it was packed fir Valentine’s Day.....
Service was outstanding! Food was delish. It was a little gem we found and will definitely go back!
It was awesome! always a great time and food is excellent. love that they always change their menu every week!
As it was our first time there our server explained that everything on the menu was meant to be shared. Assuming it was like most other tapas type restaurants my husband and I chose several items to order. When our server took our order he asked if anyone else was joining us. When we asked why he told us we were ordering way too much food. Thankfully we listened to him and changed our order. He was right - the portions were huge. Can’t wait to go back with more people so that we can try more things on the menu - everything was delicious.
The food was excellent. Our waiter was great!
Everything is great each time we go there
I was SO pleasantly surprised with this place. The atmosphere was very comfortable. The good was AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS! It was my first time and I WILL BE BACK,again and again. The waitstaff was friendly and helpful and the owner was super nice. I want to try everything on the menu. EVERYTHING!!! Go and see for yourself! I promise you won't be disappointed.
Excellent menu selection and service. Would be great if menu items had better descriptions ( eg cauliflower steak should say Fried)
Great Food very reasonable pricing
Food was amazing!!
The food is over priced. Everything came out burnt. The waiter clearly noticed but did not say anything about making a new one. He took it off the bill without us saying anything which is very nice but come on. I rarely go out to eat with my husband and no one wants burnt to a crisp food.
The restaurant was not crowded at all. The server seemed preoccupied with multiple tasks- bar, seating guests and taking orders. Our party of 4 ordered directly from the menu, yet the burger with bacon slab came without bacon while the one without bacon slab arrived with bacon!!
The chef came out earlier to apologize that their bread delivery had not come limiting what sandwiches could he prepared.
When the bill was being settled, the server took a ridiculous amount of time to put the charges equally on two credit cards. Might have been an off day, but not impressed with our first visit
One might not expect an establishment with such a casual atmosphere to have the exceptional food we ate, but don’t let that fool you. Walked thru the bar area to the main restaurant seating where we were taken care of by Maria who was very friendly and welcoming. Her recommendations were delicious and drinks were spot on too! Highly recommend!
Wonderful food & service!
Highly recommend & will definitely go back!
Experience was great and good was delicious
Husk and Vine is outstanding! The menu changes weekly. They label themselves as family style tapas, with shareable plates that are large enough for a meal for two. The bar was very packed and very loud with live music but we were escorted to a separate dining room that was much quieter. Everything from the service to the presentation to the flavor was top notch. The food was fresh and delicious. Make a reservation because it is a small restaurant. Definitely recommend!!
Wings, poke bowl, and scallops dish were great!!!
New Year’s dinner with my husband. Service was exceptional, thanks to our server Marcus. Small plates but generous portions. We shared two. Calamari cooked to perfection. Next up was filet mignon tidbits with Brussel sprouts, cauliflower and pommels frittes, yummy! First time at this restaurant, it won’t be the last.
Went for new years and everything was so delicious. Food came out fast and our server was friendly and accommodating. Very cozy and rustic vibe.
The waiter was great but it was very loud and my first and only glass of wine came to me with a used glass ( lip and finger marks all over it)! And it wasn’t on the house!!
Back room too quiet compared to front bar/table area.
Great concept of making fresh food daily and it is more of a sharing plate restaurant which is great if you like that style. We did because you can enjoy many menu items in manageable portions. Very interesting menu options along with great beer choices that included local brews. Service was good but would advise some training on bus help. Overall a nice experience and would highly recommend giving it a try.
Horrible. Had to wait one hour and a half for a small pizza. Our food dribbled out of the kitchen and we all watched others in our party eat their meals alone. Crazy! Not the best choice around the Smithtown/ St James area
I thought there were lots of creative and different menu options. I also love that the menu changes frequently. Our server was really friendly and the food was delicious. I will definitely go back and will recommend this place to others.
This is a very special place with an absolutely wonderful staff and one of the most delicious and unique weekly changing menu’s. Two for tuesdays for their entrees is a deal you will not find anywhere else for this caliber of food and their drinks hit the spot. Will definitely be frequenting this exquisite restaurant over and over. Thank you for a wonderful evening! -Khalid
A total mess. Service was poor- server very friendly but distracted. Food was fair to
Maybe good- I wouldn’t know, continuously received food with allergens I asked not be in the preparation. At one point my husband thought they were purposely screwing with us- it was that bad. However, his food came out without problems and he enjoyed every last bite. Reviews in local papers and online have been favorable, hence why we went. I won’t be going back but I would never say don’t go. Good luck!
