    My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary. The ambiance is beautiful and the food was delicious! Our server Megan made our experience wonderful. We will be back again.

    We’ve been coming to this restaurant for a few years. When it was still the Flying Toad, it was our absolute favorite. We’ve been stubbornly trying to hang in with the name and menu changes to Hunsaker’s, but our enthusiasm is a waning. The quality of the actual food is just as good as ever, but the change to the supper club vibe with set courses is more restrictive and just…less fun. We miss a lot of the old menu items that would pop up. I still think about a few of them. We want this place to succeed, but it’s getting harder to talk ourselves in to going. I believe that during our last visit, we only saw one or two other parties come in. If Hunsaker’s could keep the quality they are known for but bring back some of the menu items of the Flying Toad, we would keep coming.

    Overall a very good meal but not superb. Mother’s Day menu was limited and expensive for the fair. Onion soup was just ok. Lobster was a bit soft and the Filet was cooked perfectly but the sauce was not refined. Yet, I would still go back!

    So we ended up moving inside, as the outside was small and on the street. Also we went early (5:30) before a show and it was sunny and a little warm. Service was excellent and inviting. Food was great! I would definitely be back.

    1st time visitors during restaurant week. Great variety of 5 various courses. Loved the presentation of everything. The diver scallop fettuccine and passion for blue desert was my favorites! Full bar and offer specialty drinks. Tried “the director”, if you like whiskey drinks. Would definitely frequent!

    Restaurant week experience at Hunsakers was 5 stars plus! 5 course tasting menu with way more than enough food. Every single course served at our table was EXCELLENT. Perfectly cooked pasta, steak, fish, scallops and tempura. The food was amazing. Service was very good but it did take a while to get rolling at the beginning. They were crowded but seemed to have plenty of staff. All servers, hosts managers etc were extremely nice and attentive. Also saw the hostess professionally deal with a potential Karen nightmare where a lady was demanding for their party of two to be seated at a table for 4 when the restaurant was absolutely packed. Cocktails were very good too. We look forward to coming back and getting a chance to explore the whiskey bar and more of the menu. Definitely will be back. Best dining experience we've had in a long time and again, the food was absolutely amazing.

    Destination restaurant. Chef Hunsaker is on track to a Michelin star with his amazing creations. Definitely not what we expected in Escondido. It’s brilliant. Create a mind blowing culinary experience, execute it with flawless service and you have a restaurant people will line up to get a table in. Congratulations to Chef Hunsaker and his team for pulling off such an innovative and extraordinary dining experience. Escondido is lucky to have you. They have a full bar with an extensive list of high end whiskeys, among other top shelf spirits and wines. A fabulous find. Get in while you can, trust me, it won’t be long before they will be booked for weeks in advance.

    My mother and I visited Hunsaker's yesterday in celebration of Restaurant Week. We didn't get to enjoy dining inside since we were seated outdoors, but I do appreciate the attentiveness of staff for checking up on my mom and I to make sure that we were well hydrated (since yesterday was a really hot day in San Diego). Our server, Maya, was amazing and I love how she explained the process of how our food will arrive. Overall, the food is delicious and worth the price point, the customer service was great, and my mom and I plan on visiting again in July!

    Great cocktails. $75ea is a bit pricey. Limited menu (3 course prix fixe) with a few selections in each course. Lacked a seafood entree. Generally well prepared but a few items were over salted. $30 extra for filet oscar was missing hollandaise sauce and skimpy on the crab - overpriced. Large portions. Could easy have split with my wife but no splitting plates is allowed. They should consider revamping the menu to allow more choices and splitting courses.

    Delicious food prepared with care. Live piano player. Felt very special. Instead of a traditional menu, you have a choice of 3 selections for appetizer, entree, and dessert, each with several separate components (such as the lamb choice having lamb in 3 different styles, the chocolate dessert choice had chocolate in 5 different ways). Lots of gourmet tastes for your pallet. We left stuffed and happy. Cocktail and wine prices are reasonable. The food appealed not only to the pallet but also to the soul.

    Welcomed with a smile. You know how on occasion, even having a reservation some hostesses act like they are doing you a favor? Not this establishment. Everyone was genuinely nice. The food and service were excellent. We dine at some fine restaurants in NYC and found this chef to be on par ! Unique offerings and abundant flavors, the Osso Buco was divine as was the chocolate soufflé ! Whenever in Escondido we will make a point to dine here.

    We had a blast tonight at Hunsakers. Our whole experience was superb. The ‘prixe fixe menu’ is brilliant. Chef Hunsaker put his heart in every dish finished up with the delightful dessert. Variety of wine selections, I ordered cocktail ‘The director’ It was just extraordinary . Waitresses were very attentive and knowledgeable.     The food was finest quality the seasoning if all the dishes from the brie appetizer, the sea bass and osso bucco was what we have experienced in fine restaurants in NY, LA and San Francisco the chocolate soufflé was absolutely amazing. My wife and i have promised to go back once a month since they change the menu monthly.

    Dining at the Hunsakers made our celebration of Valentine's Day more special. The restaurant was cozy and elegant. The food was superb. I love the lobster and clam cloppino. It was so uniquely appetizing. The tempura big eye tuna and coconut crusted prawn salad was also something I would be craving for more. The Kobe steak was delish. Lastly, the German chocolate souffle, with all its garnishing, was unforgettable. It was indeed best value for money, hence, I highly recommend. We will definitely come back to celebrate other special occasions at the Hunsakers. Thanks and all the best!

    Excellent food both flavor & presentation. Service was poor - they seemed understaffed so I understand. However, I wouldn’t return based on that. We ordered wine by the glass and had to ask twice about it after ordering for it to make its way to our table. No offer of a second glass until dessert was served, and no opportunity to order coffee with dessert. Again, we get it but not the Saturday night out we were hoping for.
