Awesome place, great food, phenomenal service.
Brandt our bartender/server is amazing. His attention to detail and overall professionalism and personality is by far five stars.
Originally from Chicago, but now in Texas and travel to Chicago a few times a year; we try to hit Hugo’s each trip.
The walleye is excellent, burgers are great and steaks are some of the best in town. Oh and the clam chowder and Bookbinders soups are very good.
All meal portions are hefty so bring an appetite.
Cocktails are a must here and they do it right. You get an old fashioned the way it should be made.
Always great food, and a nice diversity of entree options. Always my go-to when people visit.
Amazing as always. Food, service and drinks all an A+!
Great place to eat. Love the freshness of the food. Great staff service.
Great food and great atmosphere. I highly recommend. The prices are on the higher end, but your know that going in. Perfect place for a special occasion.
The frog legs are excellent! Kyle was a great server and made the experience that much more enjoyable!
Recently made a weekend trip to Chicago with a small group of friends. We had Kellan as our waiter and he was FANTASTIC! He was by far the most personable waiter I’ve ever had and made our experience truly exceptional. Thank you, Kellan!
Always great. And Montrose is an amazing waiter.
The food was very good,
This was my first time dining here, and I wasn't prepared for the jumbo dessert. I would appreciate having an option of smaller serving of the desserts for parties of two.
Always a great experience
Excellent service from Kellen! Food was very good, although the shrimp was dry-it was tasty.
I have dined here a number of times and this past time was very disappointing. My wife and I started with the mussels which we found very bland with little taste. The broth lacked flavor. I had the yellowfin tuna which was prepared perfectly. The side of asparagus was rather thin and very stringy. I had a sweet potato which was only warm not close to being hot. My wife’s steak was done perfectly but came with broccolini which was very unappealing to her as well. I can’t describe why but she did not eat it.
The waiter was friendly but we always felt rushed. I should have perhaps told him we wanted a long leisurely dinner. All in all we we a bit disappointed this time around. To many good restaurants around to go back for now.
Outstanding service on another busy night at Hugo’s. Food was excellent.
Incredible overall experience and the food was a 10/10. Frog legs are a must. Will be dining there again soon
Hugo's Frog Bar & Fish House is super festive on New Year's Eve. We had great food, thoroughly enjoying the bone -in Filet cooked perfectly at medium rare with a crusty outside. The clam chowder is creamy and excellent with chunks of succulent crab meat and red potatoes. The giant baked sweet potato was beautiful--easily providing a sufficient portion for 4 people. Our only disappointment was that the Key Lime Pie was already sold out -- so we opted out of dessert which is probably a good thing after the rich and caloric dinner!
Amazing food and amazing service! Simon took great care of us.
Excellent service, terrific food at a great value. Great place to spend New Year's Eve!
Should have been an off day. I will not consider myself as a regular but this not the first time we visited Hugo’s and our last experience was not the best from a very and “too” casual service in addition of an under cooked NY strip. Every time we visit Hugo’s we have been very satisfied and will be back.
Good food and good service always
We had a great table and our waiter, Bob, was outstanding. Unfortunately the food disappointed. Highlights were the wedge salad and soups. Several at our table ordered fish and chips. All said it was not good. Too much breading and soggy fish. Check out Joe’s for excellent fish and chips. If we ordered any of the fresh fish offered it probably would have been better but they need to get it right for some of the more basic menu choices.
Great food and service. Hugo’s is a favorite of our family and we visit a couple of times a year. The restaurant allowed us to change our reservation time (twice) - very accommodating. Table was a bit cramped and poorly located, but our server, Summer, was great and the food was really exceptional. We will absolutely return.
We were seated in a nice booth. Service was good . Hubby and I both ordered the Hugo’s lobster tail at $69 each. We both found the tail to be a bit overdone and on the dry side. We had coleslaw for our side and it was dry and underdressed. The chowder was excellent. We did not have dessert. We were disappointed in the lobster and had expected sweet and tender.
The food was amazing, the service was impeccable and the ambience was festive. Keep up the good work!
This was our second time visiting the establishment and it did not disappoint. The filet was cooked perfectly. You could cut it with a fork. The service was prompt and never left you lacking anything at any time.
Food and service are first rate. Great lobster and salmon
prompt attentive service without feeling rushed and very good food. figure on average of 45pp without apps, drinks, dessert. we will return.
Food was great we had crab cakes and a filet. Both outstanding. Also had the bookbinders soup instead of salad. Would order it again. Our server Kellen was very friendly and gave great recommendations
The quality of the food was excellent. Crab cakes and grilled.shrimp were outstanding. The service was average and did not match the food quality.
Food is Always very good, Service is just great & I wouldn’t change a thing. This restaurant is one of the best around, has great crab cakes & tasty Bookbinder soup
It is our favorite go to restaurant in Chicago !
We were disappointed with the recent visit. Yes its holiday time, but that shouldnt be a reason for poor service. My fiance and me were given slow service and recommended ill suited parings with our cold and steamed Alaskan king crab. The brussel sprouts were dominant, dry and flavorless. To add to this, our waiter was slow to follow up on us. I almist forgot, our waiter disgussed the fresh fish options with a tray of raw fish and held it over my mink coat without any realization that he could have dripped fishy water all over it. The bathroom was to be butlered by a woman who took over all the stalls with cheap nasty products she was pushing. She gave me attitude for not going for the pink bottle of hand cream! I live the crab at this establishment but the service was disappointing this time.
Great food and service. Dining room is very tight and the wait staff ran into our table a couple times. Also felt a little rushed. BTW - Not all lobster and filet sizes are listed on the menu.
Never been in a restaurant with such a huge contrast.... Food and wine at the highest level, and service poor as in a fast-food or worse...
At the beginning they make me sit at a table with a column on one side and a lady i never met before on the other one.
Waiters are running all around, no time to follow you in a proper way and to promptly attend your demands.
Considering the prices, i would have expected a much better service quality.
Great food and drink. 5 Bean Chowder was delicious. The Walleye Pike was fabulous. Great wine selection. Wonderful atmosphere.
Very delicious and relaxing
Delicious food, good location and fabulous service
Had a wonderful family birthday celebration at Hugo’s. Food & Service was fabulous!was very quiet upon arrival but got louder during our dinner.
Great service and the food was excellent but a little pricey.
Our server Bob made our evening with his fantastic trivia!
We had a lovely birthday dinner with our children and we had a delightful dinner. The food was wonderful and it was such a festive time! Thanks!
