After years of searching far and wide for a location to open the follow-up restaurant to the highly successful Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse, owners Hugo Ralli and Steve Lombardo found what they were looking for right under their noses. In February of 1997 they launched the seafood companion to the Chicago legend they had created with Gibsons and named it Hugo's Frog Bar & Fish House. The restaurant is dedicated to the same principles as its predecessor, unbelievable portions, value and quality coupled with memorable service.

Food and service was terrific! Huge portions and dessert was amazing but WAY WAY too much. It could have served 10 ppl. Overall great experience and would go again.

Waiters are cheeky. Very funny. I booked as a special occasion, but it was not acknowledged. All food was excellent except the crab cake.

I went there with my mom and my sister and we had a wonderful very enjoyable dinner. I waiter Ron was outstanding, he is extremely pleasant, friendly and energetic. As a starter we enjoyed delicious frog legs, and for dinner my sister and I split the Halibut and my mom had a half order of Shrimp Dejonghe and a half order of Grilled Marinated Wild Caught Shrimp . For dessert we shared a Chocolate Mousse Pie, this pie is big enough to feed about 10 people and it is oh so delicious! I highly recommend this restaurant for a family dinner, a date night or any special occasion and ask for Ron as your waiter!

Dine weekly at Hugo's and the food is always perfection. The only thing that tops the food is the service...specially John Dooley, maitre d' and our favorite waiter, Art. Two of the all time best!!!!!

Always been a favorite when I go to Chicago.
However the kitchen was just plain awful on this night. Started with a appetizer that was way over cooked. My daughter got the halibut that was so bad she would not eat it. The steak was ordered medium but was cold in the center and no flavor at all. Probably should have sent everything back but we did not.

Thoroughly enjoyed Hugos! The $1.00 oysters at Happy Hour were great.
The Tuna steak was huge and pure tuna. The King Crab was wonderful. I highly recommend!

One colleague from Europe now tells people that it is worth the flight from Europe just to have the steak at his restaurant. It is a Chicago gem, linked with Gibson's next door which is rather more formal.

I would recommend going to Hugo's on a Sunday night to take advantage of the free parking outside. The seafood was amazing and the servers were very attentive.

I really like this place! The food was fantastic, the ambience was wonderful, and I even spotted a celebrity sitting right beside me. I will certainly be going here again next time I visit Chicago.

Everything was lovely until they began clearing our plates and cleaning the table when only two out of the five of us in our party had finished eating. It would have been better for them to wait until all of us were done eating before clearing.

The steak was excellent. They share Gibson's kitchen and serve their steaks. The King Crab legs were excellent as well.

My only complaint about Hugo is that they do an obnoxiously loud birthday chant for people who like that kind of thing. The night I was there I heard this stupid chant at least 10 times.

When I am paying $50-$60 for a steak I expect to enjoy it without the hearing a birthday chant. If I wanted that type of experience I would have gone to Applebee's.

Perfect place to go for a night with my wife. Great food with a lot of options. The service was fantastic, thanks to Frank and his team. THAT'S how to be treated on a night on the town! Great atmosphere. We'll head in again the next time we are in the Windy City.

The steaks and sea bass were very good. The Lobster tails came out cold and hard. Not at all what Hugo's standard is. Also, the shrimp appetizer was not good - the shrimp were small and mealy. Not like you get at Shaw's. I was overall disappointed because we went for the lobster.

Hugo’s always delivers excellence in food and service. I travelled over 700 miles with the intention of going there to celebrate an anniversary. Super thick and tasty NE clam chowder, always incredible crab cakes, and superior sides (asparagus, shrooms, and Brussels sprouts). Our server was Pete-attentive and on top of things. This is a favorite of mine and has been for several years.

Hugo's Frog Bar is a must stop for us every time we visit Chicago. I wish I remembered our waiter's name because he was fantastic. We had two 15 year old girls with us and we had them try the frog legs. They loved them! The food is absolutely delicious. And because you must do it at least once, you have to get the giant slice of cake called the Meaning of Life. It was HUGE. I bet 10 people could eat it. I got the crab legs which were so good. They fly their seafood in daily so it's always fresh. This is not a place to go if you are on a budget so we come only a couple times a year. SO worth it though.

So delicious. We enjoyed our meal very much. The steak was cooked perfectly. The fish was so fresh. Service was wonderful. We were very well taken care of. It was very busy and the noise level was a but high but not much can done about that. We had made a reservation and arrived 15 minutes early but were seated right away. Lovely overall.

Cork in wine is not acceptable. Server tried to serve it anyway, twice. Then, he was frustrated with me because I wouldn’t drink wine with cork in it. Testy rest of evening. It wa so comfortable and rude.
