11am reservation but not seated till 11.15am?
No employees around and ones who were there were still setting up the dining room after opening time of 11am.
Food was mediocre, high price for so- so food. Ambiance was nice and the wait staff were great.
Sadly we won’t return even though we live on Kauai. Not up to the standard the resort tries to portray.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and while I am glad you enjoyed Victoria as your server it sounds like we really dropped the ball on your birthday. We are sorry to hear that you didn’t have a great experience dining with us. I would like to further discuss the issues you faced and invite you back as our guests and look forward to speaking soon. Mahalo, Michael Young, Resort Manager
This was by far the best dinner meal we have had while staying in Kauai. Our waitress was from Australia(can’t remember her name) was outstanding! She was very prompt, gave great feedback on the best appetizers, entrées, drinks etc. The view from the restaurant is beautiful! I wish we could eat here again on our stay. The mai tai was delicious! The banana bread dessert was outstanding along with the lava cake. I can’t remember the name of our dishes. Two were fish and one was shrimp risotto. I will post pictures:)
Beautiful location but the prices were very high for very small servings. $21 for two very small street tacos with no sides and $18 for a Mai Tai. Don’t get me wrong, the food and drinks were great just felt like they could have thrown in some salad or bean and rice to make the plate look like it was worth $21. The service was excellent and the view wonderful.
Wonderful food and great service
Magnificent dinner, ambiance and service
We spent our 30th anniversary dinner here and we had an amazing time! Our server did an incredible job!
This was our second time at the restaurant the first time it was sunny today it was cloudy and rainy but again the food was spectacular plan on going back again in about 2 to 3 weeks service impeccable
Wonderful farm to table dinner. Fresh grown produce along with
After an off putting encounter with the front desk attendant while making our reservation we were preparing ourselves for a pretentious experience- what we found was an amazing meal with waitstaff who were welcoming and attentive. Jay and Branden were our bartender and waiter and they were awesome!! The burger I had was by far the best gourmet style burger I’ve ever had. Drinks were delicious too! Not to mention it was quiet and beautiful. We throughly enjoyed our meal and we were happy to kept our reservation even though we considered canceling. Would go here again!
Everything was really good - the cocktails, the appetizers (tuna tataki was amazing), the entrees - great place for a first night in Kauai. All the staff was really nice and friendly.
Extremely rude for the host to tell us what we can’t do and where we can’t go in their restaurant and the area the first second to greet us, instead of welcoming us!! The server was very friendly and kind. The food was average.
This was by far the biggest let down of our trip. My wife and I were looking forward to a great experience, but right from the moment we walked in we could tell we would have some issues. The place was pretty empty for a location booked out on opentable. We asked for a table closer to the beach (plenty of seating) because we were there celebrating and they placed us near the back corner (furthest away from the ocean) and then sat the people behind us near the beach. This made us frown for moment, but working in restaurant industry once upon a time we get it, waiter rotations… fine. Now we are looking at the menu, the drink options were great no issues there. The appetizer (Kiawe smoked ahi dip) amazing. The entrees… the pan seared market fish was good, but the sides we bland. I tried to order the filet mignon, but was never told they were out of it… disappointed again. As an alternative I was told to order the butcher cut New York….. WOW, the meat was over cooked, the cut lacked any flavor, the herb aioli cream they serve has no business being called chimichurri, the sides basic and bland and the presentation for a $45 meal… just more disappointment. Overall I could’ve had a better meal at low budget place like sizzler or norms. Aside from the issues, our server was great and took back the meal and tried to make it right. Hopefully this was just an off night for the chef. I ended up ordering the appetizer again as a replacement to my entree. Side note: I never leave long reviews like this and I’m usually generous with star ratings, but I was passionate enough about this review to write this all out.
The setting is beautiful unless they need to close the doors for wind or rain, then it feels like a school gym with no noise dampening. I don’t need to go back, there are many other options nearby.
Wonderful food and great view !!
It was an all around excellent experience.
Byron Fernandez was amazing! And the food was marvelous too.
Food was ok. Was hoping for a bigger menu that was farm to table. All they had was burgers and poke type food. Staff was a little rude as we got there were told we can only be in restaurant area. Views were gorgeous though.
Excellent food & service with incredible views. It was a gem to find!
It was my husband’s birthday and they gave him cake.
Could be great, but visited twice and was completely underwhelmed by the staff working there. For example, served food without utensils, asked for utensils, came back with cocktail napkins. Food cold at this point, so helped ourselves to the utensils on another table. On the other hand they were more than ready to bring the bill when we weren’t even half way through the food. A little bit of training would go a long way in such a nice location as they don’t currently match up.
Love the grounds and restaurant that is tucked away behind golf courses and above the ocean. Food was very good and service was excellent. Will be back.
Grabbed a perfect lunch here with my family. Ambience and food are both excellent. Its quiet and classy with break-taking views. Highly recommend
Although still one of the best locations and views for dinner on Kauai, Hualani’s has transformed itself from a top-notch restaurant to a pretentious, self absorbed eatery focusing all it’s attention to the privileged few who can afford ownership in the private, ultra exclusive Timber’s Resort.
The reason the general public struggles to book reservations is that those of us who are not Timber’s owners are relegated to 5 patio tables outside the actual restaurant, and yes, we verbally heard this from staff. Dining in the actual restaurant is reserved for owner clientele. The patio has no real view of anything and you almost feel like your at the kid’s table for holiday dinner.
The menu has been reduced to a paltry few choices that leave a limited selection that their head chef deems worthy.
Hualani’s was great a few years back but is arrogantly
and purposefully moving to private dining only since reopening after COVID shutdown.
We will miss going here.
Matt, our server was fantastic and gracious even when the kitchen botched the cook on my filet twice.
Disappointing to say the least…..
Aloha Cynthia and thank you for your feedback. We are all very disappointed to hear of your dinner and I can only imagine how frustrating it must have been to have your steak recooked multiple times. We will be having a coaching session with our teams to discuss your experiences. I further apologize that our words made you feel unimportant. That's not acceptable. Please email me at myoung@timberskauai as I would like to discuss the matter in further detail. I look forward to hearing from you
Amazing service and wonderful location. Maybe add a dish or two for vegetarians
Hualani's is very special. An evening we will never forget. We can't imagine a more beautiful place, and the food was spectacular! We will be back!
Went there the last night on Kauai. The views, the kindness of staff and delicious food made this a memorable night for sure.
Amazing views and food. An experience to remember!
Absolutely gorgeous views and really delicious food in a modern upscale environment. Cocktails were also excellent!
Wonderful server. Unbelievable view and doe take good! Will go again!!
Although the selection is small, there is more than enough view of the ocean/lighthouse/resort. Little foot traffic as this is at the very end of a series of resorts. Incredible view.
The food was also good, although if you want something specific, make sure to check the lunch menu ahead of time.
Outstanding dining experience all around. Excellent food was complemented by great service and a fantastic view. Highly recommend.
Amazing view and delicious food.
Very nice ambience
Very good food with a great view! Highly recommend the seafood!
We came here for a special dinner on our honeymoon. The most amazing views to eat dinner and have cocktails to.
This restaurant is a beautiful Hidden gem!
Excellent service, beautiful outdoor table
Wonderful views, great menu with fresh fish. Special was monchong prepared two ways. Celebrated a birthday. Highly recommended.
The food was amazing. The market fish was so delicate and delicious. Dessert was a banana bread pudding with vanilla ice cream and a caramel drizzle that was just fantastic.
Beautiful setting, good service, good food. Very pricey.
