Our server was knowledgable and gave some great info the artwork is really cool and the gift shop had some good souvenirs they have items that help charities which was really neat to learn about and contribute to I have never had a bad experience here the Carolina mess was delicious and the dark knight super tasty loved the apple chunks
Glad to hear you enjoyed your time with us! We hope to see you again soon.
Parking structure for Procopio's building was advertising for House of Blues but they would not validate and was not associated. Cost me $25 to park downtown.
Cobb salad was a+. Nachos were killer. Server was super cool.
Glad to hear you enjoyed your time with us! Hope to see you again soon!
The doodle was okay, nothing spectacular. I ordered the Jambalaya and my son had the Pulled Pork Sandwich with Fries. This was my first time eating at the House of Blues. Not a standout restaurant to me.
Hello Karyne, Thank you for your feedback. I'm so sorry to hear your last visit was sub-par. We pride ourselves on making every experience for our guest memorable. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to improve your experience, and we hope to see you again in the future. Thanks again! Victoria Paccione (619) 525 1974
Place smelled like marijuana throughout the entire restaurant. Waitress was cool, but slow to get drinks to us and slow to check back on us. They were out of several common beers and didn’t offer anything as replacements. Cool place, but they got to get it together for me to ever go back.
It was OK, but it wasn't really great. I dont believe it is a good value for vegetarians. The blackened salmon was also underwhelming. It was a piece of cooked fish put on rice. There really wasn't anything exciting about our meal.
While eating we could smell cigarette smoking the whole time. It wasn't strong, but it was off putting. I ordered a sandwich that I asked to be vegetarian which is on their menu. I received the meat sandwich instead. I am not always loud, but if the restaurant was quieter the server would have heard me.
Made reservation 6 weeks ago and arrived on time to enjoy dinner and drinks before our Elle King Concert with my fiance.
I have been to dinner many times at the HOB before enjoying a concert and was looking forward to a relaxing romantic dinner. We were greeted and seated at a high top table with open back stools about 3 foot from a bar stage that was loudly warming up. The table couldn't be more uncomfortable for what I thought would be a very relaxing dinner. I asked to be moved to a normal table and was told it would be 20 plus minutes. I voiced my dislike to the hostess that I do not think a backless bar stool crammed up against a wall 3 fooot from band speakers appropriate for someone who made a reservation.
As I made my way to the restroom, I was stopped and lectured by a manager explaining that I had not requested a low table and that the high top tables were part of the restaurant and not the bar. She indicated that I should have indicated on my reservation that I wanted a low table. I told her I had been there many times and was always seated in a low table and didn't know the high tops in the bar area were part of the restaurant. Then she stated because of my mistake, they were busy and it may be in excess of 30 minutes. I was concerned because we had a show to catch.
Luckily, we were seated at another table ten minutes later. I am glad we were, because the band started and the noise level would have been intolerable as I found the noise level still too loud towards the back of the restaurant.
Our waiter was fantastic. The rest of the staff we interacted with were "meh." The food and cocktails decent. But the chaos getting a reserved table, the noise level, the lecture from management jaded the night.
I love the HOB concerts, but will eat elsewhere next time.
House of Blues has a nice atmosphere with good food and drinks before going next door at their venue for a concert. We had a party of 4 for some pre-concert dinner and drinks on 5/24/19 to see ARIZONA perform. I would have given this place 5 stars if it wasn't for our waitress. I'm a pescatarian and my group ordered the BBQ Brisket Nachos for themselves. The waitress offered to have a small plate of nachos with a side of cheese dip made for me on the house, and we thought was a genuine and sweet idea. 10 minutes later, she comes back and lets us know the kitchen wasn't able to do that, but that she would instead have them make the regular sized BBQ Brisket Nachos without the BBQ Brisket. She gave off the impression that it would be taken care of. Additionally, a person in our party had ordered a lager. His drink came first and come to find out, it was someone else's beer that was served to him, as we were notified by our waitress who came with him glass of beer. She then made the "shh" sign as she stated she could take care of it. When we received our bill, both the extra beer and the no-meat-nachos were on our bill.
I get the hustle, but being honest and making your guests happy will generate a much bigger tip and respect for you and the establishment, rather than forcing your guests to pay what you blatantly promised you could get taken care of on the house.
Go for the concerts but don't eat there! Service and food is very lacking.
Service was slow and they had issues with our orders.
We ate prior to going to a concert at the showroom. We got our drink order in just as happy hour ended but not our food order. The voodoo shrimp was outstanding - had just the right amount of kick. I and my friend split it.
Good food and service
The host was so sweet and our server was wonderful. Her recommendations on food and drinks was on point. I would definitely eat here again when I visit San Diego. Thank you House of Blues, you made me a permanent fan!
The pass the line procedure is a little funky, but the food was great, and the service was great.
Neither of us had ever been to the House Of Blues before. We were there for the Yacht Rock concert. On top of a great concert, the food and service were tremendous! We'll be back!
Comida Americana grasosa sin sabor abundante. No había blues un grupo que tocó rock pero se esmeró . La mesera amable y atenta .
The happy hour HOB wine was not good and that was the only option for wine with the burger deal. But other than that it was good. Our server was wonderful so that made the experience great.
We eat here generally as a pre - concert convenience, which it is exceptionally convenient. This meal enlightened me to en even better than expected value. The 1/2 baby rib southern meal was truely wonderful (touch the meat and the bones literally fell out, great flavor as well). Service was exceptional!
Good food but expensive. We used a $100 voucher we purchased for $50 so it was reasonable for us. Great music and atmosphere.
I get the idea of House of Blues, but went to have dinner before a show, and the house band was SO loud that I couldn't talk and be heard, or hear others without yelling.
Had a great time. Got in to eat before a show. Food was excellent
Awesome show and Candace our server was the best. Nice place all around.
Our server was very helpful and provided us with great customer service.
Music was great! Service was prompt and accommodating.
The service was friendly & very helpful but the food was disappointed for the price of the plate I expected more flavor the two dishes we got had no flavor .
We were sat at our table by the hostess and remained there for 45 minutes without anyone stopping to take our orders or even offer us water. Candace wasn’t our assigned server but she was extremely helpful and tried to make up for the initial waiting.
Great place to see a live band and music up close. Also great cultural experience in downtown San Diego Gaslamp district.
On a mini vacation. Stumbled into restaurant. It was a good choice as it was different. Would go again
Fun time. Great service dining and bar! Fun music. Great time all around.
The venue and few were great but our server Candace made the experience FANTASTIC! She was personable and so much fun! Super service and just a really fun person. Her recommendations were spot in. We will absolutely be coming back.
We loved the voodoo shrimp and southern salad. This was our first time to the location in San Diego. Next time we'll come back for a show and more voodoo shrimp!
Good venue to catch some good music but sub-par dining. Cocktails were costly and seriously lacking in spirits, literally. No bang for your buck there. The brisket nachos which are usually pretty good were meh this time. Don't waste your time on the Muffaletta - a huge dried out sesame bun with minimal amounts of meat and cheese and a weak rendition of olive tapenade. Skip the meal and show up for the concert.
Greeted by very gracious staff and seated promptly .Service from that point on was ridiculous . Long story short we were advised of program to go in earlier by spending 25$ per person. We could not get. A waitress to take our bill and stamp the receipt for over 25 minutes and finally had to get a manager to have them do their job. Paid bill without ever receiving two overpriced drinks that were paid for as well.Forget the restaurant just see the concert.
Up beat atmosphere and the food was above average and the service was doing the best they could as I think they were a little under staffed- first time eating there and the menu had some great choices..
We went on a concert night so it was a bit busy, but overall the service and food was good. They have a "Pass the Line" option if you spend $25+ per person...gets you into the venue first, which was great!
Nice place of a pre-show dinner where attention to the diner is excellent.
Perfect! Well done.
We were able to sit on time and HOB staff were very accommodating of our need for a bigger table. The food was delivered on a timely basis, and was excellent. Our server was outstanding.
We have eaten at HOB probably six times in the past few years and they have never disappointed.
Great spot for a bit to eat before a show. Lots of options on the menu. Could do without the incense smell, but otherwise good atmosphere.
