The highlight of dinner was getting Fast Passes for the show that night and that should tell you everything you need to know about eating here. The server did a n okay job as we told him we were not in a hurry. We asked him to not put the dinner in until we finished the apps but our mains came about three minutes after the apps. The kitchen muffed it. Thn my husband and I both ordered the NY Strip medium rare. His was done properly and my was more raw than cooked. While I get that we weren't dining at a fine steak house, there is a difference between medium rare and blue/raw/Pittsburgh style. Had the steak been a tuna steak, it would have been perfect. But it wasn't tuna. So the kitchen totally redid the steak instead of just cooking the one I had some more ... maybe there are rules about this. In any event, my husband was done with his meal before I ever got mine. The restaurant offered nothing for this mistake; no apology from a manager, no discount, no comped meal, no free drink, no dessert. Really disappointed.

For many years I used to manage bars and restaurants, so please take my opinion into consideration. I ordered the chicken tenders plain ($14) and skillet macaroni and cheese ($10). Overpriced and subpar for the chicken tenders for sure. I could have ordered better chicken tenders at Raising Cane's for half the cost. The mac & cheese was good, but nothing special or spectacular about it to warrant charging $10. Again, overpriced for that. On another note, we walked in to the restaurant at 7 when the restaurant was not even full and we were required to have a reservation. We walked outside, put ourselves on the reservation list and walked back in. The reservation list was an absolutely ridiculous requirement considering after we walked back in, the restaurant did not fill up, but only thinned out more and it thinned out fast. Your employees should not have been turning people away like that if you want customers there. The next concert I go to there, I will not have any desire or reason to come early and eat at House of Blues. Having worked in the industry myself for many years, the only thing I can say good about your restaurant, was the waitress Libby was on point with attention to detail, and making sure we were accommodated well. The one thing I will give 5 stars for is the waitress name Libby for excellent service.

Loved the atmosphere and the entertainment. The food took a long time to come out but was good. Our waitress was horrible. She came by the table to get our drink order and luckily we were ready to order when she came back because we hardly saw her again after that. She brought us our check but none of the food on it was ours. We couldn't find our waitress or anyone to help us. I never got the margarita I ordered. When I asked the bartender for help and to cancel my drink, it still took her a long time to come back with the correct bill. She never apologized and no one ever came over to check on us. It's disappointing because the restaurant was really cool.

We drove into Houston to see a show at HOB with my husband and 14 y.o. son. We had reservations for dinner before the show. We arrive at 5:30pm on a Wednesday and the dining room was pretty open - probably didn't need the reservation just FYI. Bo Bottoms was singing (she's fab - covering acoustic versions of Taylor Swift and others plus a few originals - very talented!). The noise level was energetic yet we were able to have a conversation easily. Our waiter may have been the only waiter in the dining room - he seemed to be waiting on every table, but didn't miss a beat and everything was delivered on time and delicious. Giving the food 5 stars b/c it was exactly on point for what I expected - approachable bar bites and everything was super tasty. Thanks for a great trip!

HOB used to be one of our favorite places. So much that I made a reservation for my 40th bday dinner! Disappointed would be an understatement!! At 7:30 on a Saturday night, I think maybe three tables in the entire place were filled! The worst part is that the menu has been changed to practically nothing. There were like 5 unappealing appetizers to choose from and the full menu was very limited! Before looking too much at the food menu, I did order a cocktail from their limited drink menu, which was disgusting!! We paid for our drinks and left! What a waste of time and valet!! Will not return!

Probably the worst service we’ve ever experienced. They weren’t that busy and our waitress was terrible. Very inattentive. Practically had to beg to order anything and get our check. We skipped the meal and went somewhere else as the service was that bad.

We had reservations and were seated promptly. The entrees (BBQ Brisket Sandwich and Shrimp P.O. Boy) were very salty. The Caesar salad and Key Lime Pie were good. The live music makes for a good date night. Because it was convenient to the concert, we would go again.

Our visit to the House of Blues Houston was a pleasant experience, highlighted by commendable service from our server, Patty, and the creativity of the bartenders who crafted a unique signature martini for our group. Nestled in the heart of Houston, this venue offers a unique blend of music, food, and service, making it a nice spot to unwind and enjoy some good tunes. With attentive and friendly staff, and a refreshing blend of drinks, it's a place worth visiting.

I made a 1-person reservation using OpenTable. The House of Blues website said there were "no tables available to reserve," so I reserved a bar seat. "Bar" seats appeared to be the majority of the restaurant. They were spread around the restaurant and included typical high seats around tall tables and long tables, and more padded regular height chairs around tables that were on an elevated platform in the rear of the restaurant. The reservation was uneccessary. I mistakenly interpreted the "no tables available" to mean they were all reserved. They did not appear to be reserved. I did see diners being shown a sign by the Caroline St. entry door, and the diners left the restaurant soon after. After I left the restaurant, I noticed another outer door to the restaurant up a flight of steps, and diners entered that door. I don't know if that door led to a hallway near the end of the actual bar, but a lot of people walked from that end of the bar to Caroline St. entry door. I was initially seated at a regular table on the elevated platform, i.e. a bar seat. I noticed an electrical outlet available on the back wall by a tall table and decided to move there so I could charge my phone. Food and drink service was available quickly; the table was wiped soon after I requested it be cleaned. The veggie burger I ordered took longer than expected. I got a soft drink refill at no charge. I went to the restaurant primarily to listen to blues music, based on the Facebook post I saw about the performers. However, I could not understand the words they were singing. The volume of the singers and instrumentalists seemed louder than needed for the room size. I've heard jazz performances there that were more enjoyable. The restaurant location is in downtown Houston. I used the available valet parking service, but I was surpised by the $20 upfront cost. The restaurant may not have been the only venue at that site getting valet parking.

The portions of food for the price were not worth it. The waitress was nice, but we only saw her 3 times the entire time. The house music that was on when we walked in was so loud, we could barely hear the waitress talking to us. The singer was great once he started.

Overall the food was pretty good. We had the Southern salad, Voodoo Shrimp and the Blackened Salmon. The salad was great and the Shrimp was excellent with a flavorful roux. Unfortunately, the salmon was a bit dry and was supposed to be blackened, but there was very little seasoning to be found or much flavor either for that matter. The waiter was either very green or just plain bad. Seemed to just hang out by the kitchen shooting the breeze most of the time. Left us waiting for refills, the check, pretty much everything. Meanwhile other servers were all over it.... luck of the draw I suppose.

We went with the dinner package prior to seeing 311 which also included early entry into the venue. This part was so poorly managed. We got in at the same time as everyone else. Once we were inside, the doors had already opened to the general public. Mind you, we paid extra to get in early. In the future, I would not waste my hard earned money on such an experience. Do better.

House of Blues is such a great venue. We ate dinner here before attending the Psychology of Serial Killers presentation. It was also open mic night in the restaurant. The ambiance is great. I had the voodoo shrimp (which is sautéed, not breaded and fried) and a side Southern Salad. My friend had a burger and fries. The voodoo shrimp is supposed to be a house favorite, but it was mine. It was just ok in my opinion. But we all agreed that the Southern Salad was outstanding. I would order that again as an entree salad and add a protein. The burger was also very good. Drinks are a bit pricey, but that is everywhere. I suggest ordering a beer or well drink as the cocktail I had wasn't great. At those prices, it should be. We did have great service, very attentive without being overbearing. Wish we could have stayed for the open mic night; that looked fun. Overall, great place to visit. I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

We had reservations yet were seated at a high top at the bar area. It wasn’t that busy, yet it took 10 minutes to get acknowledged by the waiter. Food was mediocre. Brisket nachos grossly overpriced for the small amount of cheese and brisket. The restaurant has declined since we were here last a year ago. It used to be our pre-concert spot. Not anymore.
