Nice atmosphere. We ate the Thanksgiving dinner. Taste was good, but it wasn't very warm when it arrived.
Nowhere was it advertised that they would have a limited menu for thanksgiving. Service was very slow, took almost 10 minutes for server to show up. Got my soup order wrong twice, fish was oily and overcooked, fries were cold. Just not happy with the whole thing. Won’t return.
Looking for a nice Thanksgiving dinner experience as treat for my son and two young adult grandsons. We all got the special Thanksgiving menu and were pleased with the options and quality of the food. Tasty food, nice atmosphere, good service, and generous serving gave me some leftovers to bring home! All very pleased.
I was nervous about eating Thanksgiving at a restaurant, but Houlihan’s did not disappoint. Their Thanksgiving menu was delicious. I highly recommend.
We chose to have our Thanksgiving Dinner with Houlihan's at Kingsdale in Upper Arlington. They out did themselves! We all had the Turkey Dinner with Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Orange Cranberry Relish, Cornbread Dressing, Garlic Green Beans and Pumpkin Pie.
The Turkey Breast was very tender and juicy! Very ample portions as well.
Thanksgiving dinner with family. Excellent food and service.
Fabulous atmosphere and food was absolute delicious as always! Also, kids menu is fun and kept my daughter and I perfectly busy while we waited for our food. Well done Houlihans!
Loved the scallop risotto, and it's very calorie friendly!!
Great service and food. Great spacing between tables.
The general consensus was “it was fine.”
Birthday; it was very cold! Had to wear our coats.
The server, Chris, was so incredibly kind. Food was outstanding. The cheesecake is the absolute best.
We always enjoy the food there and our server was just wonderful.
Celebrated birthday 🥳 put that on reservation but nothing was asked for like some restaurants do ! The food was great besides the salad was requested no cheese , got taken back to get the salad with no cheese on it and instead of them remaking it they just took some of the cheese off and brought it back still with some cheese on it . Other than that everyth was good and waiter was nice
Service for mid week was very slow. The item ordered was no longer available that night but we weren't informed of that for over half hour and had to then reorder. When the food did come it was a bit overcooked. We dine here frequently and have not had poor service ( cook times, availability ) in the past so hoping this is a one time event. Usually one of our favorite dining locations but disappointing this time out.
Food was cold when it arrived. Chicken fingers were overcooked.
Booths along the outside walls are under the HVAC vents which were alternately blowing hot and cold air while we were there. The food is American comfort with a little bit of creativity thrown in. Portions are reasonable as are the prices. We see this as a good value and go there often.
Varied menu; food prepared well; excellent service by a relatively new server; quiet enough to converse in a normal voice. Only negative was substitute brand of bitters used in a Manhattan had a strange taste.
We had a good experience, will return within a couple of weeks
The ahi tuna appetizer is a must. The best I have ever had. The cheesecake with dulce de leche was also phenomenal.
Very busy because of Veterans Day promotion. Appreciated it. Food was great and our service was better. Always a favorite of ours.
Although understaffed our server was excellent! Give her a raise!
Great as usual. Tuesday half-off bottles of wine is great bargain!
When we enterd, the manager was appologizing for messing up someones order. Then the maitre d assumed we were part of the party that came in just before us, and was russhing to seat us. We were not given a choice if we wanted to sit in the bar or the diningroom, and were sat in the bar. The tables were high (parsons) and the seats were, well bar stools, very uncomfortable. When I made the reservation, I entered it was a date, but it didn't seem to matter to them. I don't know about anyone else, but if I'm out on a date, I want it to be special, romantic, and something to remember. A nice table (not in the bar) would have been nice. Our server had too many tables, probably 10-13 and one was a 7 top. It took abut 15 minutes before we were greated, and our drinks took a while as well. The food was great and the restaurant was clean, everything else fell flat. The service could have been much better, and I don't fault the server, I fault that she was stretched too thin. I will say, the food is pretty amazing and a great value, it's the only reason I would return. I would recommend for the food, but would include service warnings.
We loved the cheesy tots and wings but when our dinner arrived it was a different story. One of the meals was undercooked and one had a hair. Overall not a great experience
We were seated promptly. The young waiter gave us plenty of time to decide our orders. He was profusely apologetic that the Special was gone. Food was just what we wanted.
Our server Stephan was EXCELLENT! Thank you
Our waiter spent more time talking with other waiters instead waiting on his tables. He was very dry & impatient.
The food was cold but was able to get it replaced & then it was delicious.
We sat at our table for 15 minutes and no one even came to the table to greet us, so we left.
Light over the table was out. Hard to read the menus. Food took forever. Waitress was apologetic but when you are having dinner with a child it doesn't help.
Birthday celebration made even more special by our server Eric. He made the wait time for the kitchen to catch up go by quickly. Thanks Eric!!
I am normally a big fan of Houlihans. This time my lunch had clearly been sitting under a warmer for awhile and seemed to be a smaller serving size than previously received there. I had chicken fingers and had to request honey mustard sauce. They brought my soup out after my lunch arrived, I'm usually asked if I want it before the meal. A member of my group had to ask to have her water refilled after waiting some time. I was overall not impressed.
Normally would review Houlihan’s as amazing, but our quick experience last night was frustrating. We decided to go to Houlihan’s last night to celebrate the fact we had gotten married the previous day. Created a reservation with no problem for 8 pm online because we didn’t want to walk in an hour before close and make anyone stay late to make our food. Drove half an hour only to get to a locked door. When someone came to the door, they informed us they had been closed since 7 pm due to low food quantity and decided to close early rather than have to tell customers what they still had available. There was nothing posted on their Facebook page and they should’ve canceled reservations if there was no way to fulfill them. My husband and I love Houlihan’s, but it will probably be awhile before we come back just due to the frustration that was felt.
The food was really good, but the service and overall management of the restaurant has fallen dramatically in the past year. I understand that it’s more difficult to hire good people and retain them during the current pandemic. Reduced dining-in by the general public has made food service a less desirable occupation. Proper training has been forgone as the reduced staffing levels have to focus on serving food to the customers that are in the establishment. Unfortunately, a full staff that has been properly trained may not be in place for quite a while.
Staffing clearly an issue. Out of some ingredients. Dusty.
All I have to say is the food was delicious, but the service was horrible.
We arrived for dinner during Happy Hour. Drinks were $5.00 and appetizers were $5.00 each--had 2. A very nice and delicious dinner with interesting flavors for $15.00. What a bargain!
Good food, but it took two hours for the whole meal for 4 people when they weren’t very busy.
When we entered the restaurant no one was at the door to welcome us. We did have reservations but the inside the restaurant was virtually empty…which should have topped us off for what was to come. Waited for quite awhile…so when no one addressed us…went to the kitchen area to get help. Waited again and finally a man who appeared to be a manager seated us outside. Food was good…tacos, hamburger etc. when we ordered dessert the waitress brought our checks even though we weren’t done with our meal. Needless to say the evening was not a winner. It was apparent they did not have enough staff to run the restaurant as we have known it to be from past visits.
It was sprinkling rain and they closed the patio. Said it wasn’t safe for workers. We aren’t eating inside because of Covid.
