Celebrated a birthday. Place wasn’t too busy but service was slow. Drinks are good. Salmon was over cooked. Salads and artichoke were good.
I do not eat red meats nor pork and found the menu limiting. There was a rock band playing early in the evening (8:00 pm). The band was good however for dining at the bar the volume was fairly ramped up and it made conversation difficult.
Love this restaurant. Went here a couple weeks ago with my friend and enjoyed it so much that I returned with my husband for his birthday. The salmon and the pork chops are my absolute favorites. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. I will return!!
The staff is genuinely friendly and accommodating. The location is inviting, with an atmosphere that beckons one to stay and enjoy.
Had eaten at this space a couple of years ago and while the food was excellent, the noise level was just atrocious. Went last night with another couple and the redesign and including more noise reducing sound was welcome. The booth was incredibly comfortable as were the surrounding. Wait staff was professional, informative and overall excellent. Had the garlic fries which were pretty amazing. I only wish the rest of the meal was up to that standard. I had the fried chicken which I give a B- largely because it lacked any flavor and even though well cooked, it fell flat. It is served with greens and gravy with ham...the gravy was such an ugly grey and the greens were wilted within an inch of death. We all felt the same; food very average despite the skilled presentation; the filet was a good cut of beef but lacked any character whatsoever. Same with the salmon...adequate but just not up to the price point. Doubt I would eat here again...the food we tried just lacked any distinct flavor profile...though I would come back for the very good cocktails and fries.
I just picked the Larkspur Grill because some friends were out here visiting and it stays open later. Oh my goodness "What a nice discovery!!!" Everything was excellent from the cocktails, the food and live entertainment. I will definitely be returning.
I love the entertainment, service, corn bread and will continue to recommend it to friends and family.
Spent $200 for two people and left hungry (as part of a party of 6). To be fair, I only ordered apps, but I ordered 5. Ordered a burrata salad - it was about $16 and had 3 and 1/2 tomato slices with one scoop of burrata - way overpriced. The sliders were good - that was the only redeeming app. Had a mixed salad and the lettuce was in huge pieces, but was limp and wilted. It was actually gross, which I don't say often in reviews. Finally, I had an artichoke with butter sauce that was some blend of something yellow and something else and it had a consistency of old pudding - lumpy in some places and a little watery in others. Three of us tried it and couldn't figure out what it is. I sent that back and asked for simply melted butter and they sent the same thing back out telling me it was somehow specially prepared and I replied that....well...I just asked for melted butter. I suspect they use some substitute for butter in cooking, which is just gross for a restaurant. Finally, the black pepper truffle fries were the strangest. People, including this restaurant, need to stop the obsession with shoestring fries - they get cold and end up in a lump. So after eating about 15 little shoestring fries, they were cold and I just didn't bother anymore. I originally offered to share with our table of 6, and everyone took some, but didn't go back for more. Ultimately, it was overpriced and the food was (except the mass of cold shoestring fries) small and subpar for any restaurant, much less one trying to be in a certain class of restaurants.
I was super excited to try this new spot and ready to love it. Unfortunately everything seemed to fall a little short. I’m very understanding of the struggles of restaurants are facing in a pandemic but
The service was friendly and ambiance very nice. There was live music which made for nice background entertainment. None of the wait staff were wearing masks, which made us a bit uncomfortable.
We started off with the Calamari and cornbread. The calamari was VERY salty. Luckily, we had the cornbread which diluted the sodium content of the calamari.
I had the Mary’s fried chicken, which I enjoyed. The chicken had a nice crunch, but was a touch dry. Luckily, the mashed potatoes and greens added moisture to the chicken. My friends had the salmon and burger. Both looked good, but the salmon was overcooked and the skin was soggy rather than crispy b/c the sauce was put on top. In regards to the burger, there was too much bun to burger ratio.
Larkspur is a great place to meet up with friends w/ great service, environment and entertainment. If they tweaked a few things ie. Less salt and proper cooking times, it would have been much better.
Had the hanger steak & fries. Tender and flavorful. Cheerful & friendly service.
First time for our niece….it was also an evening when the Fun withDick and Jane band were performing. A very nice evening with entertainment and great food!
Great new experience here in the Desert. Love the new interior design they did. The previous restaurant was so noisy this is 10x’s better. Food was very good.
Second visit was as good as the first! Everything is freshly made and prepared, and presented beautifully. Starters we’ve tried thus far are the made to order skillet cornbread, Brussels sprouts, bacon wrapped dates, fried zucchini green beans and mushrooms and sliders. All excellent! We’ve also had the salmon, filet, pork chop and fried chicken entrees. All were cooked perfectly and tasted amazing!
Great food! Prices are comparable to other restaurants on El Paseo. It is a really nice restaurant with good service, live music and a nice outdoor area.
First time here since AC3 went out….beautiful inside, service was great and the food was really delicious. I had the fried chicken and collard greens in homage to my TX upbringing, husband had the burger, friends had the cod and the short ribs…everyone loved theirs
Very impressed, will be back soon
Had a wonderful evening! We look forward to going back & sitting on the beautiful patio when the weather cools off
Great foodand presentation. Good service but need to work on muni and wine knowledge.
Our overall experience was very good for the exception of the food. Let me break it down
Tuna tartar- flavor wise was very low and unexciting. The flavor profile dont mingle the flavors correctly making it a “nah” dish. The lavash tasted old and barely any crispness to it.
The flank steak- did not came out at the requested temperature and the chimichurri was too overwhelming due to huge amount of garlic in it. Also, the steak was under-seasoned. The fries were good, hot and crispy
The pork chop- the pork was cooke beautifully and with plenty of flavor. The apples on it felt raw like they needed more cooking time to achieve a balance flavor between the sweetness of the apples and the vinegar-maple flavor. Mash potato was nice and well seasoned. The roasted veggies were well executed and with some bite left on them. Overall the best dish of the evening
Creme brulee- tasted like it came out of a powder mix. Very little flavor and the caramelized sugar on the top was very poor.
Chocolate flourless torte - good dessert. Nice texture and perfect size considering how rich it is.
Our server was very attentive and was very good and knowledgeable.
Ambiance was lively and cheerful with classic music played live
Overall a good experience. Is the food worth its price tag? The answer is no. Over priced for just common food executed at a basic cooking level
First time since the opening and I am very pleased with the food, service and pricing. I will be back many times.
Had a great dinner with a friend. Only complaint would be the calamari was a bit dry. My salmon was best I have had in a long time. My friend loved the beef short ribs. The ambiance was nice and live jazz band was fun. Service was very good too.
The restaurant looks beautiful, very busy on a Thurs. nite. Our
Server Scott was great, very attentive, food was good. The only
thing we didn’t like was that the band which played really
good music was way too loud for the size of the room, that’s probably why the 2 tables in front of stage were empty all evening! We could only hear each other during their break!
Definitely will come back & will hope the volume is lower!!
Great service and wonderful ambiance with live music 😊
Food was great, drinks were great, service was great and Music was fantastic! Fun night
Great experience! Our server Jennifer was great. She was able to suggest some great dishes and the pork chop was amazing! We'll definitely be back the next time we are in Palm Desert.
Awesome experience! We all loved our dinners, the salmon and cod were delicious and my son loved the burger! The cornbread was out of the world and the atmosphere was great. We missed the band but they were just setting up when we had to go
Wish we could have stayed but we had a show to go to! We will definitely be back!
Service and food was great. Happy hour menu had lots of choices. Brussels Sprouts we’re delicious!
Seated quickly and professionally. Waiter poorly trained and inconsistent throughout meal (ex. Would take drink order, but not inquire if we wanted food order as he rushed away twice, after both ordering and delivering drinks). Food was delayed, most dishes were good, but the Calamari appetizer was hard, overly breaded, mushy and near cold. Love the atmosphere and live music. This could be a great venue with a little fine tuning on wait staff and food prep/delivery. Will try again after a month or two in hopes they improve a little.
The food was great! We all had fish, salads, and that to-die-for cornbread, followed by creme brulee. Nice drink and wine menu. Our server, Eric, was wonderful. The music was some of the best we've heard and we will all be back soon!
An amazing improvement from its predecessor AC3 ...the food and ambiance were great - the service and attentiveness was a bit of a miss (and not even busy ) !!
So nice to have The Larkspur open in the Hotel El Paseo. I am a local and love having another good dining place. The decor, food and service were great. Can’t wait to go back
Awesome service and delicious food. We were there on Thursday evening when the live band was playing so great energy and entertainment too. If you are looking for a fun evening out I would highly recommend it.
Delicious food! Wonderful entertainment!
Service was slow. Calamari was overcooked, French fries were cold, no pickles on the hamburgers. Staff took care of our complaints but overall disappointing.
food served cold. cost of bar drinks outrageous. too bright lighting.
The music was 80's hard rock not at all relaxing and really loud, the food was okay and the service was slow and our waiter never even asked us if we would like another cocktail, they did have a good selection of gluten-free options which is good my wife is a celiac however I don't think we will be returning.
We had a fabulous experience!! Both the service and food were excellent!!
The Pork Chop especially got rave reviews!!
We also loved the entertainment--Dick and Jane Band terrific!!!
If you are going for a quiet romantic dinner--best NOT to go on band night-loud, active and fun!! We loved the energy!!
Solid Dinning Experience! The ambiance, service and food were all excellent. Great meal - Great Evening - we will be back soon.
