The food was amazing and service was excellent. Very worth it!
Signed up for “Crown Room Brunch” and got “Ball Room” instead, a far inferior venue. Worse yet, the entire pool/cabana portion of the Del is a construction site, so all the windows of the Ball Room are covered in an opaque film to avoid the eyesore. First world problem, I know, but “Brunch at the Del” was a SD bucket list item for us, and I walked away from the experience feeling that it was $250 wasted. I would not recommend anything there until the construction is over, and frankly don’t feel the hotel should be charging full price. I also don’t feel that the Ball Room matches the ambience of the Crown Room and would caution brunch-goers to confirm with a phone call.
The only reason I gave a 4 stars for the value is that I don't eat $98 worth of food. Overall, this is a excellent place to have a Sunday Brunch with a vast selection of quality items to choose from. Highly recommend for a special occasion.
Charlie was attending us and he was absolutely wonderful. He was informative, attentive, and personable. I would recommend him when you go. The experience was perfect!
Had previously heard how over the top and incredible the brunch was. I had heard about chocolate fountains and delicious food options. There was no chocolate fountain and some of the food, mainly the roast beef’s gravy and the mashed potatoes, were so salty they were hardly edible. Maybe changes were made when Hilton took over? The service was incredible and everything was very clean. But the food should have been better. A bucket list check off for us, but we won’t be returning for such a steep price.
An amazing experience. I would go again and definitely recommend anyone to go. The price is worth everything you get. The staff is amazing and our waiter and waitress was amazing. Thank you!
Food quality was poor considering the price. They should set a price for non-free-flow for drivers.
Food not very good and nowhere near the quality for the price of brunch. Service was terrible and had to ask for things or go find them ourselves. Prime rib wad good and a few of the desserts but other than that, I've had better at Golden Corral and it's not $100.00 a person.
We had the brunch experience at the Crown Room and the food and service was outstanding. If you love food and great ambiance from a time good by, this is the place to go. Make it your next brunch stop, it will be memorable.
My boyfriend and I had the best time! I recommend waiting until at least 11 am if possible since most families have cleared out or are on the way out and it felt like a fresh batch of food on all of the buffets. Short lines too! We planned on staying as long as possible to celebrate my Veteran for Veteran Day and we made it to nearly 3 hours. Our server was very attentive with the mimosas and the staff seemed genuinely happy. 10/10, 5 stars, Diamond rating. Can't wait to go back!
Slow service, undercooked omelets, little food for vegetarians. Refill of mimosas ordered never arrived. Poor dress code of audience in a beautiful room, and hotel. Felt like a cattle call. Not worth premium $$$.
Enjoyable, relaxed meal! Great setting in the beautiful Coronado Hotel. Amazing variety of food. Many prions made to order.... fresh and abundant! Bottomless mimosas and bloody Mary’s. Service was attentive. Would definitely return!
Slow service for coffee refills and table clearing.
The Crown Room Brunch was very enjoyable. The only improvement I would like to see is better lighting over the various food presentation areas. Many areas were quite dark and it was difficult to see what was available.
One other note. There is an area in the back part of the brunch room with large lanterns on each side of the food being presented. The Chinese characters written on the lanterns indicate that this area serves sushi. However, the food in this area is not sushi but noodle soups such as ramen. Might want to change the lanterns to say soups or better yet, actually serve sushi in this area.
This brunch surpassed all expectations even after reading a number of positive reviews and previewing online the many scrumptious offerings. Our server, Pablo, was constantly coming by to refill mimosas or offer new beverages (the pomegranate champagne was delish!). The numerous extravagant and very diverse food stations were amazing (ramen, poke, crab legs, and a gelato bar that could have been its own freestanding shop). We stayed for 2.5 hours and never felt like anyone was trying to move us along, it didn’t seem like there were others waiting for tables. The crown chandeliers and room were beautiful. Truly an amazing brunch to celebrate our mom’s milestone birthday with her four daughters.
Everything was outstanding except they gouge you for parking. 20.00 an hour and they only give you 10.00 off after you spend over 100.00 each with tip for brunch
Food was amazing- server was fantastic! Wish we could have stayed longer- we had a plane to catch!
First time there. A bit pricy but a good place to go for a special occasion or to enjoy the Hotel Del. Food was very good. The carving station meats were cold. Other than that great service and a nice set up.
Went for my birthday and had excellent service and good, food, overall a great experience, definitely worth it for what you get.
Crown room was booked for a special event and was not told ahead of time. Booked it specifically for the crown room experience. Brunch was set up in a banquet room which lost the special feeling of the Crown Room.
Price did not reflect qualiity of food. Crab legs were still frozen and water logged. Lamb was dry.
No chocolate gelato....Server left finished plates on table even when asked to remove them.
Wanted de-caf coffee....never got it...probably forgot.
I'm sure there are much better Sunday brunches in Coronado. This one was not worth it.
The hotel was under construction so the view from the ballroom was blocked by a film placed over the windows. We went for the view.
So much to choose from and everything was delicious! There were tables laden with seafood (shrimp, crab, mussels, smoked salmon, ceviche), charcuterie, a complete omelet and egg station with eggs Benedict, any type of omelet you wanted, bacon, sausage, potatoes. The hollandaise sauce had a little too much lemon for my taste but was still good. A new ramen table was also available with noodles and different types of broth and accompaniments. I had the pork belly broth with a piece of guanciale on top that was delicious. There was also a carving station with leg of lamb, prime rib, smoked turkey, and pork belly - all delicious! A whole table of salads and side dishes to accompany the meal included ratatouille, mixed vegetables, mashed potatoes and gravy. And finally, a complete table of desserts with small bites of cheesecake, peanut butter cups, lemon bites, fruit tarts, creme brulee, peach cobbler, and a whole assortment of ice cream with sundae toppings and cotton candy. The service was impeccable and the waiter kept the mimosas and bloody Marys coming. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that they only have valet parking and it is $30! You get $10 off if you get the parking validated at the brunch but that's still a steep price, I think, for forced valet parking.
We brunched there while on vacation. It was definitely pricey ($$$$$), but the experience was worth the splurge. The food was incredibly varied and everything we ate, except the Prime Rib, was delicious. They encouraged small portions of as many dishes as you might like and going back for seconds or thirds on those dishes you really enjoyed. I spent a lot of time at the deserts table! And bottomless Bloody Marys or Mimosas we’re included in the buffet cost. A very pleasant and relaxing late morning adventure.
Brunch at the Del was incredible! Gail was wonderful, could not ask for a better waitperson! Absolutely a fantastic way to celebrate birthdays!
I thought it was highly overrated and not even worth what it cost...the waffles and pancakes were so hard and tough you couldn’t cut em...it was only mediocre on a whole and been there done that won’t do it again!!!
Our server Ramsey was fantastic! Ambience was diminished due to construction, and many diners were commenting on this. Expensive (as are most things at the Del) but a worthwhile indulgence. Will return.
Food delicious, service spectacular.
The problem: reservations said OCEAN FRONT Ballroom not Crown Room - I noticed, but thought, having breakfast with an Ocean Front room still sounds pretty swell. I kept reservations. We arrive and are told no one has an ocean view because of construction. There is a panel of frosted film across the entire room. By that time, my husband and I were dressed up, starving, paid for parking, hired a sitter. It was disappointing because I expected a Titanic (before it sank) experience and it wasn’t, it was just a large room with frosted windows. We can’t afford to return, so this was my once in a lifetime opportunity and I feel like I was robbed of the experience. I am sad.
No, I would not recommend brunch at the Del Coronado Hotel. What a tremendously over priced disappointment. The food was mediocre, the service was minimal (every waiter's uniform was umappetizingly dirty and stained), and the overall atmosphere was that of a run down, old, seamy Las Vegas casino. No at all what I expected. I would never go back and I WAS, quite honestly embarrassed to have invited guest there for a birthday celebration
Experience and food was awesome!! Service was very professional too.
The overall staff and food options were good. We were disappointed with the meat quality. The prime rib was overcooked, thus dry and tough and pork was very fatty! The egg Benedict was good but no meat option, like Canadian bacon or ham, which was disappointing. Dessert options were wonderful! Loved all the breakfast options and fresh fruit topping.
First time at Crown Room to celebrate a birthday. Thought it was going to impress my husband (it was his birthday), but we were all disappointed. For the price and reputation of the Hotel Del Coronado, we were not impressed. To start, they stuck 7 of us a small table. Tables are uncomfortable also—our knees kept hitting the legs/bars under the table. Hard to get coffee refills and someone to take your dirty plates off table. It wasn’t full or at capacity, so no excuse. I’m a restaurant owner and my little “hole in the wall” place gives better attention, service, and quality food than here. We asked for a cappuccino or espresso and they said they only had regular coffee?!?! Not classy at all!
This historic hotel with a historic brunch. Excellent variety of well prepared foods. Atmosphere is awesome. A bit on the expensive side, so be ready to pay out at least $100 per person. Parking is not included. A special place for a special day to remember.
The overall quality and selection was not as good as previous visits - especially for the price and compared with other brunch buffets. I was also appalled at the $50 valet fee. It wasn’t apparent when you dropped your car. A ridiculous fee - especially because it was necessary to use because of mobility issues. I do not anticipate returning.
The best brunch ever! An amazing spread of food. Loved it.
Fantastic brunch in a beautiful setting! A great variety. Fabulous service. Highly recommend.
The Crown Room Brunch was wonderful and the reason we HAD to return to Hotel Del Coronado. Our waiter was attentive and enjoyed his advice to try everything that you wouldn't cook at home. Very good with my 7 year old granddaughter. Thank you
We had couple hours to kill before flight left. Awesome experience! Checked our bags and had amazing brunch. Kids had great time and all left full. It’s not cheap, but worth it! We can’t wait to be in San Diego again.
Expensive but worth it. Many choices, highest quality and excellent service.
Was very disappointed that the historic Crown room (with crown chandeliers) was closed on this day and the brunch was relocated to another plain ballroom in the hotel. This should have been disclosed in advance when my booking was made over a month in advance. Very disappointing and poor planning on the part of the hotel management. Location aside, the service was excellent and responsive and the food was great.
