The vibe, drinks and the live music was really nice and I would probably go back for that. The food and service does not match that. We waited for a while for the food to come to our table and when it was finally there it was lukewarm. We got the chicken and waffles and the eggs Benedict with avocado. The waffle was crispy and chicken was barely warm and it seemed like it was sitting in the kitchen for a while. They forgot the maple syrup and we had to ask for it. I didn't bother telling the waiter about the chicken being damp and cold since I didn't want yo wait another half hr for the food to come back to the table. The eggs Benedict was good but again, it was barely warm.
We got the flourless chocolate cake which was really nice but the sad part was that when it came to the table it seemed that the ice cream had melted on the plate (check out the picture attached). It was a nice desert but when you know that it was just sitting in the kitchen for a while it kills it for you.
It is a nice brunch place but don't expect much from the service.
The place lacks decent customer service. The problem with establishments that get too famous is that they begin to forget the importance of customers. The food as always is decent but the long wait is not worth it.
It was a very good time, amazing food, service was a little slow, but other than that it was superb.
It was a loud party but we were trying to have dinner. Not conducive to talking at all. Very 80s.
great food, great music.
very nice for lunch brunch.
The seating was tight but the food was delicious and it had a great atmosphere.
I love this restaurant! The food is amazing, the service is tremendous and the atmosphere is unique. I highly recommend the brunch on Sunday!
Our reservations were for 3p we got there at 230p. We waited 30 min. So u might not want to get there too early. service was ok.. We were upset as to the group that sat next to us, sat 20 min after us and got their food 20 min before us . And we were a party of 2 - they were 4. Otherwise the food was decent. The Sangria bowl is not worth the $ it's litterally juice. Just do the .92 cent drinks trust me.
4 of us went to dinner. We each ordered sangria so waiter suggested we order a pitcher. I guess it’s our fault we didn’t ask the price. Bill came $380 , $130 just on drinks, the foods good but not $380 good. I certainly didn’t eat $100 worth myself. Nyc for you
We went for brunch and it was EXTREMELY LOUD. The acoustic of the place is not ideal for a live band. It was impossible to talk.
The rock hard shrimp is a MUST
Service was incredibly poor. We had reservations for 8:45pm and the waiter didn’t know what the Valentine’s special was. After the appetizer we waited well over 45 minutes for a pair of medium rare steaks. The manager was very responsive when we called him over, he went back to the kitchen and waited for our food to be ready, but by that point I didn’t want it.
Great rooftop ambiance with jazz music. It was a little loud but if you go early around 11 it’s quiet. The food and choices are amazing. I have never seen stuffed French toast like this! They had amazing chicken sausage wrapped in pancake batter that looked like it was put in waffle iron on popsicles sticks! Everything was yummy and presentation was beautiful!
Hotel Chantelle never disappoints. Between the live jazz band, the beautifully crafted cocktails, and the solid brunch, it has something for everyone. Amazingly, even sitting right next to the band, it was never too difficult to speak among our group. The people watch, wow don't even get me started on that. Awesome way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Also, there's a punch bowl for 10 people, which came out to about 4 drinks per person in a group of 4. For $40 bucks...a pretty ridiculously good deal for New York.
I LOVE this place. I went for brunch with my girlfriends and we ended up getting a late reservation. We were warned that at 6p they needed our table for dinner. Long story short we stayed until 2a. We stayed at our table enjoying ourselves thoroughly for a couple of hours after we finished eating. We were then given a table near the bar, AND THEN given a table downstairs with a bottle. Amazing.
Smiles from staff all around. We felt welcome & comfortable. Ambiance felt like we were in a quaint outdoor garden. Food was excellent & cocktails perfect!
Went for brunch and was incredibly loud with live background music. Had to should to hear each other. The food was extremely underwhelming and plain unfortunately.
Really love that spot! The food and service is great!
The waitress was rude and gratuity was included in my party of 2 meal, so basically they can get away with it. Food was good, overpriced. Cute little spot, upscale, so dress to impress. You’ll get better service that way. And bring ID you’ll need it to get in!
Overall- it was okay. The bad part was, once the late night switch happens around 10:30-11, if you were dining the drinks go down. We had to send back 3 drinks because they change the mixes and alcohol where the color and flavor is noticeably different. Not worth the $$$ after the night crew comes in.
The food was amazing! But if you’re expecting the service to be as great as the food - you’ll be very disappointed. I’d recommend this place and I’d visit again, but I’ll be mentally prepared to be treated horribly and given so many fake smiles from the staff.
Very delicious, but a bit pricey. We spent $200 for a brunch for 3. Everything tastes amazing the service was good. It was very noises bc it’s am i closed space and everyone was trying to yell over each other. Their brunch drinks are like 90 cents but they are pre mixed so there is no alcohol. I had to order a shot on the side to make the drink alcoholic but I get it for 90 cents u get a mixer for your vodka. I would recommend this for a double date brunch but not a party bc it is way too noisey and becomes a problem talking to all your guests.
Loved it! The Stuffed French toast was heaven!
Food took an hour to come out.
Hotel Chantelle is my favorite place to eat when I am in the city! Amazing ambiance, great drinks, and even better food! Great bar downstairs where we go have drinks and dance after dinner. Must try place for anyone wanting to have a great night!
Great atmosphere! Jazz band during brunch, great service. Delicious food!
We ordered several appetizers. The pork belly was crispy and flavorful. The grilled octopus was tender; prepared perfectly. The buffalo cauliflower could have been spicier, but still tasty.
Our waitress was attentive and very friendly. We were not rushed, even though we sat for a long time. A very pleasant ambiance!
Really good food. Shocking music. So loud.
I don’t want to listen to Justin Timberlake at full blast whilst I dine. Sorry.
I loved the place, the food was amazing.. planning to go back again!!
This was the secret me time I've been to Hotel Chantelle and it was just as good as I remember. We had dinner on the rooftop which is covered in glass over the colder months. The food and wine were great and a good atmosphere for a Saturday night!
The noise level was high. The food was good. The rocket shrimp was delicious. The customer service could have been better. There was very little check in from the waiter.
I was very happy when i first came into the spot. The music was great and the vibe was awesome. Until i went upstairs for brunch. I waited 20 minutes before a waiter came back to service my table and it went down hill from there. I am not sure if its because we were among the last few tables to be seated or what. After numerous times of being ignored and countless times of me going up to the hostess i requested for a manager. That was completely a jerk!!! I told him we were there celebrating a birthday and that we have been experiencing a poor dining experience. He insulted me by comping my drinks that were equal to 2 bucks. I asked for a cake for to celebrate my friends birthday and was told the kitchen was closed, however the party before us and after us were given a cake. not for nothing but i feel as if they only catered to people of non color. I will definitely will never go back and quite disappointed.
In an effort to trying something new, I ditched the usual bottomless brunch and dragged my brunch squad here on a Saturday afternoon (11/11) at 1 pm.
Atmosphere: The band playing was super loud but you'll get used to it or won't notice them once the alcohol starts to kick in (Sangria punch bowl). The rooftop is extremely hot and will become uncomfortable depending on the number of drinks you have and layers you have on.
Food: There are a variety of options on the menu. My friends and I wanted to try the M.O.A.B.urger (Mother of all burgers) but they ran out. We all ordered the chicken and waffles with a side of fries and tater tots. The portion of food here is a lot skimpier than other brunch spots I have visited and not worth the price.
Drinks: We (a group of 4) ordered the sangria punch bowl which is recommended for groups of 10-12. If you're among lightweights I would not recommend if you are a party smaller than 6-8. Our tolerance is a bit high so we were fine. We also ordered a round of the easy passage but it was trash.
Service: The service here is subpar. We had to ask our waiter twice for the sides we ordered with our meals. We received our sides 20 minutes after receiving our meals.
Overall: The only reason I am giving this place any stars is because of the sangria punch bowl. Gratuity is automatically added due to discounted special brunch cocktail pricing which would be fine if service did not suck. They also sneak water service on to the bill which is not cool since you are not asked whether you want sparkling or tap.
I have gone to several brunches in NYC and Hotel Chantelle is by far my favorite. I made a reservation for a Saturday afternoon with my best friend and we were impressed with the entire experience. The rooftop was absolutely beautiful, there was live jazz music, and the menu had a great selection. I will absolutely be back here.
This the brunch spot. The $.92 cocktails are awesome $8 for pitcher. Great band and yummy food. It’s a must do for brunch.
Great restaurant in the hotel - bar was small but nice. Decorated well, not too dark and not too noisy. Food was delicious (try the brussel sprouts). We went there for the Beyond Burger™ which is VEGAN - BUT it is served on a brioche bun, (which is not Vegan). The only other bread option they had was the gluten free bread - which was fine, but I think they toasted in with butter - so they don't know what VEGAN is. We also wanted the buffalo cauliflower but when we got there, we found out that the cheese is mixed in with the sauce. So, as far as VEGAN dining, we did not succeed very well but we did love the wine and the salad and the brussel sprouts and the restaurant. Just wish that more great places offered real VEGAN options.
It may not look like much from the outside, but Hotel Chantelle is quite the pleasant surprise inside. Warm, friendly staff and cool music welcome you in, and there are comfy candle-lit tables and a full bar. The menu is very creative -- everything from chicken and waffle "pops" with warm maple syrup to a pretzel with cheese dip, to luscious lobster pot pie (what a crust! loaded with large morsels of lobster!) and cavatelli pasta with butternut squash, candied walnuts, and a browned butter and sage. Portions are just right and of high quality, but save room for dessert! The Mounds dessert is ridiculous! It's like a lava chocolate cake but the center is coconut!!! It's everything chocolate and coconut should be. The value was good, too. We went there relatively early for dinner on a Wednesday night, but I bet this place is hoppin' on the weekends.
Despite it being a little too loud, the place was good to meet up with friends. The food waa worth the wait. I had the chicken and waffles and it was delicious. I had to get a side of bacon though. That was my only meal for the day. Regardless, food was good, price was decent. Definitely get the pitcher of the vodka drink. 8
I️ thought it was a “party” brunch. It wasn’t. :(
