We were able to make a reservation on a Saturday night 45 minutes before going (not really a good sign on a Saturday night). The food was mediocre at best, and the service could have been better (dropped off our food then waited till we were almost done to see if we needed anything). There are far better restaurants in Babylon Village (and surrounding towns) to grab a delicious meal with better service. (Sidenote - although the decor is nice inside, the ceiling really needs to be redone - it reminded me of the old white ceiling tiles found in basements).
Food was fantastic! Our waitress was terrific! The host visited our table to ensure we were satisfied with our meal and if any extra or the kitchen needed to tighten up our meal, which was perfect. This was not our first time here and we keep coming back as our meals are always perfect and always pleased!
Excellent food and very reasonable! Staff and service are exceptional too!
We loved our grilled chicken with gruyere, bacon, apple sandwich and guacamole, cheddar chicken wrap! Two ladies watching their calories substituted Public House and untraditional Caesar salads in lieu of fries. So flavorful and delicious! Plentiful choices to choose from, must go back to sample the rest! Seated by the fireplace was a bonus for our ladies lunch.
It's more of diner-like setting and quite noisy and loud. The food and service were good - not rushed, but not stellar. I enjoyed my entree of eggplant meatballs over juilienne cut squash, but my appetizer of pork pot stickers seemed like it was micro-waved and tasteless. A nice neighborhood place, but I wouldn't travel too far to go there.
We let waitress know we were on a time constraint because we had to get to a show and she and the rest of the staff made sure we got done in time. Food and service were great!
We’ve been here so many times and it has been wonderful
Decided to take my daughter and her friend and the service was terrible by our server
She never checked on our table I had to look for her when we needed anything never asked us if we wanted anymore drinks while girls were eating she told them about dessert and when dessert was brought out she was just putting in their food plates that they had eaten i had to ask to clear the plates first
Not a good experience
It’s our favorite local place. Friendly service and great food. Our favs are the Ruben sandwich on pretzel bread and the Southern Fried Chicken with biscuits.
Pretty much loved it but the noise level would make me rethink it as a first choice in venue.
My friend and I went to dinner on a friday night and made reservations and our table was ready when we got there. No waiting. Food is excellent and the service was great. Nothing at all to complain about. Highly recommend.
Waiter/buster kept rushing us
I went for date night with my boyfriend on Saturday. We were sat in the booths in the bar area. It was the NFL playoffs so it was decently noisy and the acoustics were not great. However, the food was very good and I loved that they had healthy options. I had the shrimp al forno which came with zucchini noodles and my boyfriend got the Chicken Forrestal which should have been with risotto and they gave him mashed potatoes. Not a huge travesty but when we addressed it with the waiter, he said the chef was new and either didn't know the dishes or messed up. Not a great indicator. The service was lacking despite it being pretty empty. We had to wait about 10 minutes and ask 2 other employees for our check as our waiter never came back to check on us. The food was delicious and the prices were reasonable but there is definitely room for improvement.
Love this place always great food but it was New Years Eve and it was very loud lots of kids and my waiter forgot our drinks we never got them
open table was great. reservations were made and confirmed. Sat us near door and it was a bit cold when it kept opening. Out of four people two enjoyed their meals. Pot pie the veggies were hard and rack of lamb the lamb was hard (probably overcooked). overall just ok.
Always excellent food and service!
Probably one of their busier day of the year, and the food was prepared good and the service was personable and complete. Go here to enjoy a casual and friendly experience. 4.5
Dinner was terrific! We all took home doggie bags!! Staff is outstanding!!!
Good food and service, very loud. It was a Friday evening and it's Christmas time so maybe. that's why it was just crowded and loud. Would recommend and will return.
Thought it Would be decorated more festively forever Christmas. Waitress verrrry nice but they were short staffed so service was slow. Good was great.
Inventive and delicious food.
Looking foward to going back.
Food was excellent and server was very good. Food was served hot and tasty
The food was okay. The restaurant was very loud and the seltzer had a bad taste to it. Not one of our better dining experiences.
Our server Jeanine was excellent!! Seafood pasta was Deluca’s we’re clams casino. Great tap selection
food was good. noise level too high. youg children seated in main dinning room.
The food was ok. The service was terrible and the place gets very very noisy. There’s better options in Babylon with similar types of food.
Great food as always
Dinner was great ate off the price fixed menu 25$ you got appetizers dinner and dessert what a bargain with drinks the bill was 210$ for 5 people we all had the rib eye steaks with Gorgonzola cheese for 2$ more well worth it I had the tuna wontons very good would recommend to anyone
Food was excellent, great variety and everyone in the party was quite pleased.
Very noisy. Fried chicken was cutlets not on the bone very spicy. Too much food very expensive and risotto is usually delicious it was dried out. Need more waitresses.
The food was outstanding and so was the value. i had the salmon and my husband had the meatloaf, both favorites of ours. The service left a lot to be desired. We had to keep asking for water and when we ordered drinks we waited quite a while. The restaurant was not crowded so I could not figure why we did not have good service.
The place is amazing- The waitress took the time to go over everything and the beer selection was good
The food is VERY VERY good!! Never had a bad meal here!
We met friends for lunch. There was plenty of parking behind the restaurant with easy access. The front bar had some high top tables and a nice bar. We were taken to the back room where there were some booths and tables. There were white tablecloths on all the tables which gave it an upscale feel. The menu had something for everyone. Two of us had the lobster roll which had large pieces of lobster ( not much mayonnaise like some other places). Two of us had the crab cake sandwich which was served on a brioche bun. It was one of the best I have ever had, looked like a burger, seasoned great and not a lot of breading. The Reuben was also served on a brioche bun, was delicious, and the only comment was that the meat could have been cut up a little more to make it easier to bite into. All were served with fries, though some of us exchanged them for a small side salad. The Capn’ Cruch Chicken appetizer was tasty, though I didn’t really taste the cereal in the breading. We tried a few deserts, the salted caramel cheesecake, creme brûlée, and the raspberry sorbet were all a great ending to our meal. The prices were all pretty standard for lunch. Kudos to Sarah our server, she was fantastic. We will definitely be going back!
We had a 6:30 reservation. The food is always very good here with good choices on the menu. However, this particular evening our service was truly lacking. Our server was extremely slow to take our drink order and it took a long time to receive them. We finally got to order appetizers which arrived at our table at 7:45! An hour and 15 minutes after we sat down. Dinner was no better. That we finally were served at 8:45! It was a Birthday celebration and the waitress actually took one of the guests desserts from in front of them and placed it in front of the birthday boy and left the original person with no dessert! It was a mess.
Our waitress was wonderful and really on top of her tables. Food is always very good and noise level acceptable.
We have been here a few times and thought the food was good, and the service acceptable. This last visit was disappointing. The waitress was overwhelmed. She didn’t even greet us and we waited 10 minutes until she finally came to our table to take our drink order. Not friendly at all! After drinks arrived and we placed our order, food came out in a timely matter but our second drink order did not arrive until after most of us finished our meal. The food was good, but the service ruined the meal. At that point we didn’t even want the drinks. We invited people who were first time patrons, and needless to say, we were embarrased that we selected Horace and Sylvia’s over the many dining options. We will not be returning.
The service was abysmal even though it wasn’t crowded. And the food was inedible. Not anything like my prior experiences at the restaurant.
We had a reservation for 8:45 that I had to push back to 9:30. We got to the restaurant and the bar was a little busy, but the moderate level or patronage at the time did not justify the ridiculously loud volume of the music.
We sat in the back table section of the restaurant. The menu looked good and we've eaten here before so we were looking forward to a good meal. Open Table require that you fill out ranking of the food to do a survey. I gave it one star but we didn't even make it to ordering a meal, let alone drink.
Within 2 minutes of being seated, the bar started playing unbelievably loud metal music. It was intolerable. We got up and walked out.
