Hook & Line offers a fresh, modern take on sustainable seafood, inspired by the rich bounty of California’s coast. Guided by acclaimed chef Santos Majano, our seasonal menu blends global influences with the vibrant, ingredient-driven flavors of Northern California. Every dish reflects our deep respect for the ocean, the land, and the people who cultivate both.

We source thoughtfully — from local fishermen, farmers, and artisans — and let the seasons (and the tides) shape what we serve. From ceviche to whole fish, our offerings highlight what's fresh, what’s local, and what tastes best right now.

Our beverage program showcases small-batch spirits, craft beers, seasonal cocktails, and natural wines with a focus on organic and biodynamic producers. It's all part of our commitment to sustainability, quality, and minimal intervention.

The food was 10/10! Ceviche, beautiful! Stuffed rabbit poblano, perfection. Myself and partner came in for our anniversary, and I am not one to usually put notes into the reservation that one of us is sober and we were there for a special occasion. So I was greatly disappointed we were sat in front of a storage hallway with curtains/exit sign and what was essentially a bar table, at the bar. The server was inattentive to the table the entire meal and did not ask if we enjoyed the food or if we were wanting additional beverages past our first serving and was MIA. Again, greatly enjoyed the food, but service was extremely disappointing and lacking. A special occasion didn’t feel very special because of this lack of attention to detail. I will come again to enjoy Santos’s amazing menu but maybe just sit at the bar for a quick bite in the future.

We love that the menu changes seasonally. We love trying Bites and Snacks, sharing a creative salad and I often order an Appetizer for my entree while my husband enjoys a larger Entree selection. We always appreciate their great cocktails, made to your specification and a generous wine list with several by the glass options to enjoy. The service is attentive, friendly and knowledgeable.

Excellent service all around from the host to the servers. The restaurant was packed on a Monday night, so we knew we had made the correct choice, which was confirmed by every dish and experience. 10/10 recommend!

Always one of my Santa Cruz favorites .....they were spot on even though it was Father's Day, UCSC graduation, and NO KINGS march day ....a lovely dinner

We got their early and didn't have to wait for a seat. The food was really good and the wait staff were really friendly and accommodating. It was very enjoyable.

excellent everytime! the fish is super yummy. AND the goat cheese ball or burrata on manresa is delicious!

I was disappointed on this past visit. The service was really not very good. Food came out before we got beverages. The waiter went missing for long stretches. The vibe was also pretentious. For the price, value, and desiring an attentive and knowledgeable staff, I would likely consider alternatives.

Always fun to go there, drinks are always on point halibut was Super fresh and a great salad. Staff always friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.
