   Dexter was a great server and made our experience really meaningful with his recommendations and great service. It’s a “definite must”!

   This restaurant offered simply the best overall meal and dining experience we have had in the Myrtle Beach area in the 40+ years we have been coming here to vacation. The steak my wife ordered- so well grilled and tender with great flavor; my daughters split the pallela dish and raved about the flavors, and I ordered the red snapper and have never had a better piece of fish in the presentation and flavor. Our server, Roxy, was so thoroughly enjoyable and pleasant. She offered great insight as to the meals, and was very attentive during our meal, We even had one of the managers (Cory) stop by after we paid our bill to check-in, and it was a pleasure to relay the experience we had just had with him. This restaurant is a MUST on any vacationers or locals dining dance card!!!!

   This is not only my favorite Myrtle Beach restaurant, it's one of my favorite restaurants anywhere. Always great food and exceptional service

   Gem in this neighborhood. Starting with the good stuff: This restaurant is super cute, lots of parking, friendly staff, honors your reservation time even while busy, service was timely and food came out coursed and last but certainly not the least, MOST of the food was very delicious. A few disappointments: we ordered half a dozen of oysters and they were all the same kind. I forget which area it came from. Three of the six oysters looked very fresh and good and they were delicious. The other three looked quite unappetizing in color and raw oysters can be dangerous if it's gone bad. (picture provided). The second dish of disappointment was the 'angry clams pasta'. While the flavor was very balanced and tasty, the issue was the unwanted ingredient: sand (my guess from the poorly washed clams) With every bite and chew there was sand. A big turn off making it difficult to enjoy and finish. Such a shame because the flavor was great.

   Our first night in MB did not disappoint! We were early for our reservation but were able to grab 2 seats at the bar. Our server, Amanda, was warm and welcoming and full of suggestions for us. We shared a buratta caprese salad, which was split for us. The tomatoes were ripe and the cheese soft and perfect. My main course was a fish special, cortina, a fish I had never had before. It was served with grits and the best Brussels sprouts I had ever tasted. And, my drink was a muddled strawberry with vodka concoction that was bright, cold and sweet, a perfect way to begin our vacation. Sadly, we had no room for dessert, but will definitely leave some room on our next visit.

   We love this place! We’ve been for brunch several times but this was our first time for dinner. I’m 28 weeks pregnant and we were celebrating our wedding anniversary-right when our food came out I started feeling unwell and we had to leave quickly. The server boxed up our food as quickly as possible and sent us with dessert to go because it was a special occasion, it was so sweet! Once I was feeling better I enjoyed all the food and dessert! Can’t wait to go back and hopefully sit and enjoy the entire meal!

   We came to Hook & Barrel after a wedding on the beach. We had a reservation and 2 of our party were late getting there. However it took 15 min for someone to greet us and get us some drinks. Otherwise the food and the environment was great. I'm not a foodie but I do enjoy tasting unique appetizers and dishes. The fig and brie appetizer is one of my favorites and the swordfish was awesome. a couple in the party ordered the surf and turf and really enjoyed that as well. Overall I would recommend Hook & Barrel to my friends and family looking for an upscale place with delicious food.
