We went to Hook & Anchor for a bday dinner excited to try their lobster roll that is toted as being “the best”. Our waitress was very nice however she was not very attentive. Our appetizers came out before our drinks. Myself and my daughter were out of drink for more than half our meal with no one refilling or coming by. Lobster roll was mid. Nothing fantastic. Appetizers were good. There was a band playing next door so if you wanted to sit outside it was very loud.

Been there twice Lobster Roll, fish & chips, and the best Chowda I have found OC. We will be back soon

1. People are wonderful. Helpful and attentive. 2. Seafood is world class. Presentation, flavors, freshness 3. Location is easy to find on the Dana Point plaza. 4. Make an online reservation. It's popular and it's only going to get more popular. 5.If the band is playing next door, you have two choices- sit inside or sit outside and not hear any conversation other than the band. I'm really glad we went - lobster, shrimp, calamari steaks, fish & chips and a spectacular seafood salad but a number of people walked up and then walked away when the band started.

Had the most amazing meal (a late lunch) at Hook and Anchor in Dana Point this afternoon. Everything…and I mean everything…was delicious. The service was excellent and the restaurant comfortable and welcoming! The restaurant has been open about a month, and they have everything running smoothly, as far as we could see. Had chowder in the bread bowl, crab cakes, a salad packed with a variety of seafood, and the bread pudding dessert that was a work of art. And delicious. We’ll be going back!

We had an excellent meal with great service!! We started with the yellowtail collars which were battered and spicy!! Excellent:) I ordered the 6 oz lobster roll and my wife the salmon. We both licked our plates clean. The food was great! My wife ordered a drink that looked really good too. The ambience was nice and our server was really friendly and made the experience fun. We will definitely go back.

Nice place but the food was just… food. The Kama was way too spicy. Chowder was good. Fish and chips, ok. Same with the shrimp linguine.

Management needs to get their act together. 6pm on a Sunday and they ran out of 70% of the menu, including all lobster (fish & lobster house) and fish. Menu didn't say ceviche had shrimp. Told server of shrimp allergy and a food runner delivered the ceviche with shrimp. Server seemed surprised it was an ingredient (again, no reference on menu). Generally, has potential but may want to avoid until they get it together.

They were out of a lot of menu items including lobster which is what they are known for.

Service was great, along with food. Fun, casual in, and outdoor seating. We had calamari, fish and chips, and lobster roll. All were great, and their homemade tartar sauce is yummy!
