   Clam chowder had lots of clams. Also potatoes. But it was salty. No crackers served. A Red snapper with vegs & cauliflower purée was overly soaked with the sauce. Also salty. A little overpriced at $39 considering the small portion & bare ambiance. We went at 7 pm & it was relatively quiet & service was great. ! Alcohol drink was very overprice for mixed drink ($18) for this type of restaurant but it is my fault for picking it. Drink was just ok.

   Food was good and service was good but not on point. Forgot a side dish with the mains. Slow to bring waters and drinks to table. Lovely waiter who served us but didn’t know mp fish of the day or oysters available Having said this I am going back. Allowing for teething problems and a settling in period👍

   We had an unforgettable dining experience at Hook and Anchor in Dana Point! Everything from the food to the service was top-tier, and we can’t say enough about how wonderful our server Kelly was. She truly went above and beyond to make sure our visit was flawless—friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly attentive without ever being overbearing. Kelly made us feel genuinely welcomed and cared for throughout the entire meal. The food? Absolutely phenomenal. The Lobster Mac and Cheese was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. The Cioppino was a seafood lover’s dream—hearty, perfectly seasoned, and loaded with fresh seafood. And the Hook Plate with halibut was cooked to perfection—light, flaky, and so satisfying. Hook and Anchor delivers on every level, and thanks to Kelly’s outstanding service, it was easily one of the best meals we’ve had in Dana Point. We can’t wait to come back!

   The food was delicious and the drinks were too! Just opened and had plenty of staff, owners were there monitoring service which was excellent and highly recommend this new gem.

   Started out with a clam chowder, which was absolutely excellent. Then my wife and I shared fried green tomatoes, which were also excellent. Then we each got a 6 ounce lobster roll. There is an option of a four or or 6 ounce lobster roll. The quality of the lobster was perfection. The price was a little higher than I would’ve expected for 6 ounces at $48. When I asked our server the price of the lobster roll and said we want 6 ounce we were told 38 but maybe he was referencing the 4 ounce but in any case 48 is pretty steep for a lobster roll but the quality of the lobster is very, very good. You get a side of drawn butter with it and french fries, which were also very good. We had a couple of Cape Cod drinks each which were also very well constructed. Overall excellent food excellent service great location only comment is that $48 for a 6 ounce lobster roll seems a bit pricey. Our server was fantastic. He was Johnny on the spot every time we needed anything always checking in on us and other folks would come over and check on us also. Looks like a very well run operation. I definitely recommend going there. There are many items on the menu besides lobster rolls that look very good which we will be trying. Next time we go.
