We found this place on Open Table and reviewed the menu. We opted to visit based on the pictures provided of the food and dining area. It was myself and my husband my two teenage kids and one teenage friend. My husband and I had the burger, my daughter had the blue cheese salad, and the friend had the caprese flatbread and my son had the Asian bowl. Everything was good except the Asian bowl which they comped from the ticket even though we didn’t ask them too. The dining room is outside so be careful of rain. Our server wasn’t very friendly but the hostess and the manager were very nice. Overall it was good food and acceptable prices.
My eggs were not cooked correctly so sent back. Still not good. Toast and potatoes not great. Would not order again. The server tried to make it right by giving me a juice.
We also tried a club sandwich for lunch. Waited a long time for a club sandwich. It was also not very good. Server was good.
The drinks are fine, but not impressed with the food which is too bad since the restaurant is on the property. We much preferred La Spezia and Paco’s Tacos.
The food is average “pub grub.” We went here because it was less expensive than the restaurants at the Hyatt. If you’re looking for a burger and a beer, this is not a bad choice. But it is by no means above average in my opinion. Wait staff very friendly!
We love HoloHolo Grill for a light (or heavy) meal. During summer reservations are a must. Pool side restaurant, casual and don't be surprised by dripping people in bathing suits walking through the tables to the bar! Be prepared for a somewhat limited menu, but all the basics are covered. Wish they would bring back the Mediterranean flat bread. . .
Fathers day brunch. We had mothers day brunch here this year and it was so good we came back for the father!
Below average food at typical Hawaii prices. Convenient if you're staying at the hotel but with so many good restaurants around don't waste your time here.
Overall very good! Caveat, this is not a romantic setting. It's a resort poolside restaurant with the sounds and sights of such. Very good food and service with reasonable prices.
Food was very good We ate there twice on our vacation. For resort dining, I thought the prices were reasonable for the area.
Enjoyed the pesto and shrimp flatbread. Unusual but outstanding combination. Serve rolls fresh tomatoes and reparations and ride slots are already
The restaurant was advertised as affiliated with Sam Choy so we thought it would be worth a try. The setting was unexceptional ( think pool bar) with uninspired food to match. The coconut shrimp were over done and the fish under done . Defiantly not worth the trip.
This was our first time to Holoholo Grill, we enjoyed our meal and the service was very nice. We will be back.
Was so pleasantly surprised, since this is a poolside restaurant. Actually a lot nicer than most and the food definitely better. We went for dinner and it was fairly quiet. Most people had left the pool and also it’s far enough from the main pool. The coconut curry mahi was awesome as were the sticky ribs, which we split as an appetizer (nice portion, could be a meal alone). We ended up taking the fish and half my husband’s burger (he raves about it) home. Our server Tiare was super friendly and helpful. Brought Lava cake as a treat, which we happily ate, even though we were stuffed (were celebrating my retirement & upcoming 25 year wedding anniversary). We ate at other restaurants in the area, but this was our best experience. Not fine dining but lovely outdoor restaurant with great service & food in Poipu.
Food was fantastic for mother's day brunch. Crabs Benedict, Banana bread French toast all delicious. The indoor portion of the outdoor seating could be a bit more scenic.
This is a very low-key spot in a large condo complex. It's not fancy at all and is situated next to their pool with water falls, etc. The menu is varied and, although the waiter didn't tell us they had fish specials, we found items to order. I wish I had known about the specials. But the food was good. I had Poke which was an appetizer and the right size for me. Boyfriend had chicken sandwich and he said it was fine. Nothing special but fine. Waiter was very friendly. It's hard to find places on Kauai that aren't really expensive with intricate menus. Holoholo Grill was fairly priced with good menu
Was a great Sam Choy find. This was a new place for us.
The hotel sells this grill as having a James Beard award winning chef, yet the food was mediocre and the ambiance non-existent. It’s a giant open air room with a cement floor and white/blue walls. It’s a hotel poolside bar at best....very disappointing. It would have been fine if sold as is, a poolside bar, but don’t oversell it to be more than it is.
Great food, much better than I would expect at a resort. The drinks are really great as well.
The menu is extensive, the drinks are excellent and the service was perfect. We were staying on the premises and this was a perfect solution on our first day as we had not yet gone shopping. It is also the food and drink choice when using the pool at Koala Landing. Very good quality especially for a vendor who has a monopoly.
Birthday Excellent food and setting.
Did it realize it was hotel pool bar, food and service were ok, music was good but people watching basketball were loud and annoying and constant stream of people wearing swimwear was unexpected.
Great for breakfast, lunch and diner, Sticky Ribs are outstanding as an appetizer or meal.
The Applebee’s of Kauai. Humdrum.
Best Fish and Chips on the island!
Our visitor had the Waygu burger for dinner.
He says the BEST burger he has every eaten!
I had the Ribeye steak...just excellent!
Very slow services
We have eaten here 3 times so far and service has been up and down, great service today, less so on our other visits. The food has been consistently good with large portion sizes. The blueberry pancakes were AWESOME!
Food was excellent. Highly recommended for light dinner. We had spicy sashimi, crab cakes and waygu beef burger
Sherbet dessert was so so.
One "criticism" we had was the difficulty finding the place. It's off Poipu Road but the signage is terrible. It would. help if the directions on their website indicated which resort it was in.
Food was delicious but overpriced for the tiny amount received. OpenTable listed “Business Casual” yet it was a pool-side restaurant where all attire was welcomed. We were thinking it was slightly higher end than what we got, atmosphere-wise.
For the prices, I expect a more than you get at the Holoholo grill. The service was forgettable. The food is good, not great. The soft drink prices are offensive. Options for gluten free diners are extremely limited as well. Diners should expect more from a high-end resort in this location.
Food was wonderful. Lovely waitress. Bit crowded. Rain.
Don’t judge a book by its cover. It’s outdoors, covered, and in the rear of a condo complex - but that’s better than ok. The reviews were good, and the photos implied an indoor restaurant. We were all dressed up for dinner on Valentines Day. It was rainy when we arrived, so our first thought was to leave - but go where? Our waitress was very patient and kind. As it turned out, this is a hidden gem. Locals come here and really enjoy it. Dinner was delicious, service was excellent. We recommend it.
Nice place to grab a bite and drink. Sit outside and enjoy the lush surroundings at Koloa Landing Resort.
We went for lunch and it was just what we wanted. The drinks were well made and the food was fine. Nothing amazing but it was good.
This is a good place for pupus and casual meals. However the two online menus do not reflect what is actually available.
Excellent breakfast! Beautiful atmosphere and great service!
One of the very best in Kauai for food, service, and ambiance!
Until this last meal at Holoholo, service has been acceptable. Usually a little slow, but that's okay for Kauai. This time it was not acceptable at all. I had to ask twice to have empty dirty plates removed from the table. The wait staff did not pick up the dirty appetizer/salad plates when the main course was delivered. Then only took one plate away the first time I asked--leaving two others dirty plates on the table.
Staff friendly and attentive. Food was just okay and pricey.
Sara, our waitress, was an excellent, pleasant and positive person. She knew what to recommend and was an enthusiastic spokesperson for the restaurant.
The Burrata salad had the right spice and flavor mix. The Ramen Noodle Bowl and sauces was very tasty and hit the spot on a cooler night. The Wagyu Burger was juicy and so tasty according to my husband. Crab cakes were not my favorite, husband said they were decent.
Watch out, GPS not accurate. If you find yourself at the coast road you missed the driveway to the lot. Do a U-turn and look for it on your left.
enjoyable food & at reasonable prices. Our family ate breakfast, lunch & dinners here & was not disappointed. We tried other places In The Poipu area
And found Holoholo to be a favorite!
Selection limited if one cannot do spices, but staff very pleasant.
