   We enjoyed our dining experience with the Historic Table (updated name for the Historic Supper Club). You have a little time before dinner is served to explore the exhibits of the SC Historical Society in the Fireproof building. Dinner is served at a long dining room table in a library type room with lovely Spode China. You will enjoy learning about various foods used for the highlighted period in Charleston history; the recipes used for the meal preparation are slightly updated for modern tastes. The proprietor, Mike, will explain details while the food is served family style. Everything was very tasty and abundant. A glass of Madeira wine is served, but otherwise it is byob (glassware provided) . It is an educational and enjoyable evening!

   This was a unique and fabulous experience for the foodie and history lover! Mike was a wonderful host... historian and chef. We enjoyed the meal, and the history of the dishes as well as many stories he told about the history of Charleston that we hadn't heard before. We also loved having an after hours visit to the small but educational museum. I would definitely recommend the Historic Table ( supper club) .

   This is a can’t miss for anyone interested in culture and cuisine. This evening was the highlight of our vacation. It felt authentic and educational while at the same time incredibly entertaining and above all DELICIOUS! I enjoyed the experience from the moment we stepped into the door and were met personally by our host. It was an absolutely incredible experience.

   Let me start by saying Mike is an incredible host, server, chef, and historian. This was a one of a kind experience and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a unique culinary experience in Charleston. While it is not a conventional restaurant, Mike takes you on a culinary journey of 18th and 19th century low country cuisine, keeping things as authentic as possible while still appealing to our modern palates. Each dish was carefully crafted and thoughtfully prepared. The table was full of strangers, but we all got to chat and listen to Mike’s wonderful presentation of Charleston history to go along with each dish. Our specific meal was centered around Legacy families of Charleston, so we enjoyed dishes each family would have also enjoyed. Mike deserves all of the attention and reservations he can handle. As he says, he’s one of Charleston’s best kept secrets, and I believe that to be true because I had a fantastic experience.

   This dinner was awesome from start to finish. The history aspect was amazing, the museum was cool, the food was terrific, every aspect was well thought out. Everyone should try this experience at least once while in Charleston.

   We reserved for 6 on Saturday December 23. We arrived and the museum was closed. Puzzled - I pulled up Opentable. I had been messaged on the app that the chef was ill on the 21st and we were cancelled. I am truly sorry he was taken ill. However- Opentable has our email and phone to text us. In all the years I’ve used this app, I’ve never had such occur. I feel we should have been notified personally not through the app message. We were very frustrated to discover this at the last minute.

   This was a great experience in a very interesting setting. We learned a lot about the history of the city and more specifically on the cuisine. The food was great and the presentation was very engaging. Would highly recommended.
