   I was hoping for a wonderful New Year’s day brunch. The menu was limited and uninspiring.

   The only thing worth highlighting about The Highlight Room is the view. Nestled atop a swanky Hollywood hotel, the panoramic cityscape is undeniably stunning—but that’s where the praise ends. The service? Absolutely abysmal. Our server seemed to vanish into thin air, leaving us with little to no attention throughout the evening. To make matters worse, the restaurant wasn’t even busy, yet our food took over an hour to arrive. As for the food, it was mediocre at best. The flavors were uninspired and far from what you’d expect at a venue boasting such a prime location. To top it off, the calamari appetizer was so delayed that they ended up refunding it—though at that point, the gesture felt like too little, too late. While the hotel itself looks like a fun spot to visit, I wouldn’t recommend wasting your time or money on this restaurant. You’re better off finding a rooftop with equally good views and far superior service and cuisine.

   Showed up for our reservation, about a third of the tables were occupied so not very busy. Everyone looked a little concerned with our table. We wound up waiting 10 or so minutes for them to organize our table. Food was mediocre at best, pizza app wasn’t bad. Drinks were super watered down/sugary. I can’t imagine a world where I’d return. Overpriced, you’re paying only for the ambiance, which I’d say is weird considering employees were wearing hoodies.

   Our waiter was wonderful. The food was enjoyable. The view fantastic. Great place to go before going to the pantages.

   Lunch Break menu was awesome. The chicken wing lollipops are next level amazing. I could eat them all day long. I want that recipe!

   The view here is incredible. It’s a hotel bar restaurant. For lunch the menu is limited and served nicely. It’s really all about the view though. Nothing special about the food. Unfortunately it’s more of a night spot so in the light of day, the place looks tired and seedy. It really is a night club. I’m certain when it’s a club it’s quite a hot spot.

   Poor logistics. I made a 10:30 reservation for brunch, I checked OpenTable and their website and both indicated brunch was all day Saturday and Sunday. When we got off the we waited longer than needed in the lobby without being greeted, finally wondering into the main dining area and found someone. After being seated we received brunch menus for about 5 minutes when a waitress came over with no greeting or into and took our menus, exchanged them and said brunch doesn’t start until 11AM and left… We then sat there for 15 minutes before being greeted again. At that point we were annoyed because the chicken and waffles item we wanted was not the breakfast menu nor did there appear to be anything brunch cocktails on the breakfast menu. We got up and left and went to Breakfast Club down the street and had a much better experience. Also, wasn’t as fancy looking in person as the photos. I wasn’t impressed.

    I took my daughter there for her birthday because I wanted her to experience the panoramic views, good food, friendly service and retractable roof. The restaurant area where I had dined previously (past the rooftop pool) was closed and the room where we ate was not as impressive. Our server was not very attentive. The cocktails were delicious as was the food but portions were extremely small for the cost.
