High Cotton - Charleston Ratings and Reviews
Food was very good overall. Baked oysters were at best ok, lobster gnocchi was delicious. Had bread plates on the table but never got bread. Friendly service and enjoyed our visit, expected just a little more in general as far as service and food quality. Will be back though
We opted for the Valentine Day special dinner for two featuring aPorterhouse steak. I started with the She Crab soup. I have never had a better version. Creamy, full of crab meat, very tasty. The steak was cooked to our desired temperature. The accompanying mashed potatoes were good but the collards were outstanding. The desserts were quite good. Our server Jess took excellent care of us. There are not that many servers who seem to show up just when you need them and no more or no less. Excellent job. We have dined here before and were pleased. This visit however was a cut above. Kudos to the front and back of the house. You made our evening.
We had a wonderful meal at High Cotton. We were seated promptly and our waitress was very attentive but not over-bearing. I had the seared scallops while my wife had a shrimp cocktail and salad. Both were outstanding and well-portioned. I'd highly recommend you add High Cotton to your list of places to eat in Charleston.
We wanted to have a date night out at a different place for seafood. I loved the scallops! We enjoyed a drink at the lovely bar then off to dinner. They had a band with soft music which made the night special. It was a lovely relaxing night. I would recommend High Cotton to anyone.
I added a quick note in my Open Table reservation that it was my wifes birthday. I assumed that I would tell the waiter when we arrived, but from the moment we walked in, every single employee came and wished her a happy birthday. When we ordered dessert, they included a candle to just make it perfect. The service was absolutely amazing. Being a local to Charleston, we often times stay away from the places that tend to be more touristy, but High Cotton has shown us we need to give them the locals business too. Great job to the whole High Cotton team.
Short trip to Charleston. Picked 2 restaurants to visit. High Cotton was great. It took some time for our server to come to us but when she did she was fantastic!!!!!!!
Very helpful and knowledgable about the menu. Great dining expierence
I had informed the restaurant during the reservation that the dinner was for my husband's birthday. As soon as we entered the establishment, we were greater with a happy birthday. We arrived early and were seated right away. Our waiter was very kind and placed a handmade card on the table wishing my husband a happy birthday. We don't go here often because the food is pricy but the food is always amazing and the staff go above and beyond for it's guests.
Love This Place!
Service is terrific I wish I could remember our bar server and waiter they were both awesome!
Food is great and reasonably priced. always live music.
My go to for happy hour and with out of town visitors.
Oh and best Manhattan in Charleston!
I love this place for Sunday brunch. The mimosa trio is the best! Our server was wonderful and the pastry assortment was decadent and delicious. But....I didn't care for the grits. They were too stiff; I like them creamier. The eggs on the benedict were too well done. They should run when cut into. These were almost hard. Other than that, everything was fine.
High Cotton has always been one of our favorite restaurants in Charleston -- reliably and uniformly excellent. My wife and I went to dinner on the last night of Restaurant Week. The waiter said he was able to upgrade the petit filet to a ribeye if I was interested. I was and I ordered the ribeye which was great. But to my surprise, it was not at the same price as the petit filet on the Restaurant Week menu -- 50+% more! This took away my enjoyment of an otherwise great meal.
Our experience at High Cotton was amazing! The food, service, music and scenery was very pleasant. It was our date night but we had to bring the baby along with us. They made sure that we were well taken care of, and even checked to see what we needed for our little guy to make things go smoothly for us. We had a great time and look forward to our next visit there.
We had a fantastic evening at High Cotton! Food was excellent! Environment was beautiful, comfortable and good for celebrating or a nice date night. Our server was Seth and he was excellent. Made the evening all the more enjoyable. I would love to go back and sit the bar with the live music. This is a place we will absolutely visit again! Highly recommend!
