About
We create these stories with food and drink from our past, fashioning a future around our table, and over our bar. Let us tell the story of who we are as a community—at breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Heritage is a love note to Chicago, and all of the immigrants who built our city.
Fabulous restaurant. Service was excellent. The wait staff was very attentive and offered helpful suggestions regarding the menu. They were very knowledgeable and made sure that all of our questions were answered. As this was a first time experience re: Caviar tasting, we walked away having learned quite a bit about the process, the grading and how to eat. We also ordered other items on the menu and each was a melange of flavors unto its own. All of which was wonderful. A definite return visit is warranted.
Always super friendly and great food!
Such a gem! Wonderful food. Very unique menu. Food you cannot get anywhere else. So pleased to find this place.
A great experience. Food was creative and tasty. Guy and Isaac were great behind the bar. We had the tartar, roasted cauliflower, and the trout. All were fantastic!
Food, service and value. This restaurant has it all. Caviar was amazing, as was everything we ordered.
This somewhat out of the way Westown restaurant has outstanding, creative, delirious food. It's carviar selection is excellent and fun way to start any meal (though expensive as caviar is wont to be). It's wine list could use improvement, though the limited wines it has are very good to exceptional. Feels like an informal neighborhood "bistro," but offers food with creativity and flare. Highly recommended.
This restaurant is a total hidden gem. The food is DIVINE overall - you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu! My socks were knocked off from the caviar service through dessert. The wait staff were all super kind, attentive, and knowledgeable.
The bartender very kindly made me a n/a drink even though it wasn’t on the menu, and they surprised me with a “happy birthday” scoop of ice cream.
This is also a great restaurant to go to if you would actually like to have a conversation with your dining companion(s). I can’t wait to go back!!
Went on Monday. They have all you can eat oysters which were very good and fresh. Recommend it.
Amazing food and service!!! Never disappoints. Also kid friendly.
Amazing food and service. One of our fave restaurants. Come splurge on caviar and bubbles, or just come in for a tremendous brunch.
What an amazing eclectic menu - it's one of those menus you want to order everything! Dish after dish was a hit and such an interesting combination of cultures - I guess hence the name Heritage! Service was great with interesting cocktails and good wine list. Can't wait to go back - my party was still talking about it days later.
Chef Guy and his team cook up some of the most delicious dishes in Chicago. This restaurant would kill it in Paris, NYC - anywhere people get fabulous flavors and food. Chicharrones with pimento cheese! An epic steak tartare with nasturtium leaves and housemade crackers! This is the food that makes everything right with the world and that I want to eat every day. You don't have to order caviar - even their housemade mustard is a show stopper (and I have purchased a large to-go container before and will again). This place is a treasure and should have lines around the block.
Amazing as always...would like to see more gluten free options.
GREAT! hidden gem in West Town. The food was amazing, so great for the price. The menu is so unique and delicious and the people were so sweet and attentive. :)
We have been to Heritage for dinner but this was our first time for brunch. A different experience but still delicious food! We had eggs on eggs and our favorite the hamburger, kids shared their favorite the ramen. It was all topped off with Chef Alan’s chocolate cake with lemon curd. He never fails to treat your tastebuds to something delicious! Chef Guy and his restaurant will greet you with hospitality and fill you with food and drinks so delicious and enjoyable you’ll wonder why you haven’t been before or already salivating when you’ll be able to return to try something else.
Not the first time I've been here and certainly not the last. Food and drink is consistently outstanding! Staff is friendly, attentive, knowledgeable but not overbearing. Caviar service is a true pleasure - I've done both a $10 service and a $150 service (and a couple in between) and have enjoyed them all! Oysters are fresh and tasty. Their house cured gravlax is great and changes with the season. And, their desserts (and pastry at brunch) are not to be missed. Ambiance is a perfect balance - I've gone in wearing a sportcoat and also just tshirt/shorts and felt equally comfortable.
This is just the best restaurant! Great food, great service. Go!
Impressive caviar menu - which was delicious! Excellent cocktails!
Good service, food, drinks and atmosphere. It surpassed our expectations however, I will have to save up money so we can come back!
Everything was excellent! The potato pieorgis, pork schnitzel, and million dollar noodles were highlights. The flavors and ingredients are unique and of exceptional quality.
Came here on a Wednesday night for caviar. We had the caviar grand platter and it was delicious. In addition, the infused vodka was a nice compliment to the caviar. Definitely a fun date night!
The restaurant was quiet for Saturday brunch, which was awesome. We had craft cocktails, a mix of the less expensive caviars, the deviled eggs, and the pastry assortment. Everything was exceptional. If you've never tried caviar, this is the place to learn and not break the bank. I can't stop thinking about the spicy dill pickles and the deviled eggs! Service was exemplary. It's probably good that we don't live closer, or I'd haunt this place all the time.
The menu looked great, but we left before dining after waiting 50 minutes and receiving only one of the two cocktails we ordered around the 30 minute mark. That cocktail came with a promise that our first round would be covered, which was greatly appreciated, but we waited another 20 minutes before deciding to cut our losses and go without spending $200 a head on food. I'd love to give this place another shot, but would hope that future kitchen or staffing emergencies would be discussed with patrons so they could decide whether to spend their time waiting or come back another night.
Lovely spot with creative, well-executed menu and nice cocktails. Very friendly staff. Will definitely return with our foodie kids.
Really enjoyed our food there! Unique and more of a place to get an appetizer and great drink than dinner, although they do have some larger portion items.
The whole experience was amazing. The food was great and so were the staffs.
Caviar service is very lovely, but why, why, WHY serve delicate (and expensive) caviar on rustic, highly flavored brown bread? How about blinis? Or even toast points? Infused vodkas were not worthwhile...and I'm sorry, but my Polish grandma would not call that a pierogi. (More like an empanda, IMHO.)
I have wanted to try caviar for a few years now but was pretty intimidated by the whole process. Heritage takes the mystery out of caviar and the entire experience was kinda magical. We had the Kristal and the Sturgeon and both were out of this world. The accoutrements included a butter I nearly put in my purse; it was so delicious. The manager (who was very attentive) let us know that every other Tuesday this summer has a fixed menu during the downstairs burlesque show! Going to be back soon.
A real gem! Neighborhood feel with fine dining level cuisine at a reasonable price. Friendly,
Knowledgeable servers. Outstanding caviar service. Will definitely be back!
This has really become my “go to” restaurant in Chicago. I love it! What a unique selection of food, drink and wines, all done so well! Sure “Caviar” connotes swanky and expensive but that’s just the bonus. Very casual, even family friendly atmosphere. And by all means, get your introduction to fish eggs here, either through an a la carte order (trout roe is my fave— mild flavor, medium size, great popping] or an add on to a dish as suggested (bowfin with he chicharrones and pimiento cheese appetizer, or crab soufflé). The a la carte servings come with tons of house made chips, 2 chunks of house made black bread, house made pickles and all the traditional accoutrements in an escargot plate). Said crab soufflé is delay but takes awhile so order it early and choose other stuff to eat while waiting. The Caesar has added flakes of lightly fried anchovies and crispy crustacean shells. The octopus is delicious. Oysters are phenomenal although sometimes only one delicious variety is on hand. They are a bit pricey if you’re not on happy hour. The house made mignonette is something you’ll drink straight up. At least I do. Service is so friendly and helpful at levels. You’ll interact positively with the host, waterperson, server and chef. Go if you haven’t already!
If I could give 10 stars I would!! Excellent ambiance. Friendly staff. Amazing food. We had a group of 5 and shared plates so we experienced most everything on the menu. Just outstanding on every level!!! We will be back.
Fun place interesting menu. Caviar was good missed the blinis to put the caviar on. The black bread which was delicious and the potato crisps masked the flavor of the caviar.
We were there for the burlesque show and had a phenomenal time! The food was delicious, the drinks were creative and fun, the server was fantastic and attentive, and the show was top-notch!
Perfect Mother’s Day brunch. Incredible food, incredible ambiance. Heritage takes the best of the Chicago dining experience and adds an Eastern European taste. The staff didn’t rush us, the owner spoke with everyone and made everyone feel very welcome. He shared that his goal with this place is to take the pretentious out of caviar- and he did so most skillfully. About half of the dishes on the brunch menu included a sprinkling of caviar- including the deviled eggs and the “eggs on eggs” sandwich. All around a class A dining experience that was trendy enough for me, and relaxed enough for mom and dad.
We went for Mother’s Day and everyone there was so nice. We sat downstairs and had plenty of attention from all the staff. Everyone was super nice to my daughter! Not to mention, The food was amazing! We will definitely be back!
Had a reservation... got there 10 minutes early took our order 10 minutes after we sat down... Food never came and we left 75 minutes later hangry
Very. Very kind staff—quiet with nice music —good food except Caesar salad—too mustardy —had the best dessert I have had—avocado and strawberry sorbets with meringue—-will go back for that!
Great service, food, libations, ambience. And caviar! Eat here soon.
One of the best brunch places in town - pastries are the star as are the creative cocktails. A true hidden gem.
I made a reservation for my husband’s birthday and Heritage was super accommodating with all the changes that we made. The food and drinks were great and Hannah was a good server. The manager even ran after us to give my friend her coat. Very much appreciated!
