Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
Hemingway's Cuba offers a vibrant dining experience with "absolutely delicious" food, particularly praised for its Marquitas, Tostones, and Crispy Caribbean Wings. The "stunning views" of the Smoky Mountains enhance the ambience, especially from the rooftop. While some find the menu limited, "fantastic service" and "lovely outdoor dining" make it a delightful visit.

Service was excellent!! Food was very disappointing. Soup was cold and empanadas dry and tasteless. I was there a couple of years ago and the food was much better.

Our visit to Hemingway's Cuba was SPOT ON!! The food was absolutely delicious!!! I highly recommend the Marquitas, Tostones, or the Crispy Caribbean Wings. All three are outstanding. The pricing is appropriate for the current political/economic state and their service is beyond excellent. Our drinks never went unfilled, our table was cleared in a pace to keep up with our meal, and our server was polite, friendly, and fun!!!

We had dinner at your restaurant last evening. I am going to concentrate on the food only. Service was great. About the food, it was so mediocre (with the exception of plantains as an appetizer) that we have decided we will not eat there again. One of the 2 entrees was a Palomilla steak. The steak was good. The side dishes were white rice (came less than warm, almost cold), black beens (were cold) and sweet plantains (they were right temperature), they were good. The other entree was Ropa Vieja. It had pieces of gristle, big mistake not to inspect the meat carefully before cooking it. The side dishes were the same, white rice (cold), black beans (cold) and sweet fried plantain (that was good). Then, the final touch: pastelitos de guayaba. Those were not pastelitos, they looked like empanadas and the guava was runny, pale, strange, certainly not guava paste. The body of the empanadas was soggy, when empanadas are supposed to be crispy on the outside. After that last dish, 2 espressos. Weak espressos, and they were warm, not hot as espressos should be. At the end, we were disappointed. We were told the chef is Cuban. We were expecting great traditional Cuban food as the one we know. We are Cubans. We know what great Cuban food is.

We love this restaurant! The food is delicious! We had the ceviche, paella, and pork sandwich. All exceeded expectations. The outside patio, surrounded by the Smokey Mountains, is comfortable and inviting with stunning views. And we were lucky enough to be there when the live band, Prodigal Son, performed beautiful Cuban music. We had a wonderful evening. Highly recommend.

Our reservation was late, but our waitress seemed more concerned with the kitchen closing than in caring for us. The food was mediocre, the seafood in the paella was overcooked. We tried 4 out of the 5 red wine choices for a glass of wine and all 4 were undrinkable. Cocktails were fine. On a clear day the view is wonderful, unfortunately it poured rain the entire time, not their fault. But there was a DJ and the music was very loud. There was not much that was enjoyable for us.

Great ambience and views. Service was good at all. We sat and had dinner on the rooftop. The food was just ok. The paella was plain and seafood was mediocre. The ropa vieja was too salty for me. Empanadas were plain as well.
