Arroz con Pollo
yellow rice, roasted chicken, roasted red peppers, sweet peas, (no sides)
gulf shrimp & nc coastal catch marinated in lime juice, cilantro, red onions, avocado
Food was above my expectations, the best I've had, and great service
Highlights included the patio views, the yummy cocktails, and the small plates (the octopus & the grilled pineapple salad were amazing). We got the mariscos paella to share and it was good, not great.
The menu could stand the addition of more robust dishes. We were disappointed that the excellent Cesar Salad was off the menu. On the other hand, the mojitos were great.
We had reservations and they sat us at a table for 10 when there was only 4 of us?
We requested an outside table when we made our reservation. We were offered a communal table. We asked for a 2 person table and were told none were available. A number of 2 tops outside were unseated the entire time we were having dinner
Very disappointing. Never again. We will spread the word of our disappointing experience.
I have to start by saying we were there almost exactly a year ago the first time, and everything was fantastic,;; cocktails, food, service, ambiance. Last night, our 2nd time there, not so much. We even stayed at the Cambria Hotel to have close access to the restaurant. For me, the quality of the cocktails is just as important as the food, and that was the biggest issue, other than really slow service, that we had. Out of 3 drinks ordered, the first one, a house special, was just ok, and a little on the tart side. The 2nd drink was made incorrectly, and actually tasted bad. If a bartender does not know how to make a drink, then they should google it or say they can't make it. It was a Mai Tai, so not even that difficult. The 3rd drink wasn't even what I ordered, so cocktails were a bust. The food was good, I ordered the stew, and my husband had the steak. Slow service was not the servers fault, as she appeared to have too many tables to wait on. Management should have stepped in as she was obviously overwhelmed. The best part of the meal was the desert, the guava style cheesecake. The next time we're in Asheville, we'll try a different restaurant. With all of the COVID restrictions, we rarely go out, especially travel, and it is especially disappointing when the restaurant isn't up to par.
Ambiance is not what we expected. Originally seated by the elevators and asked to be moved. Tables were wobbly. Drinks not so hot. Flood was flavorful and the service great.
Awesome experience! Must go again! Whether you stay at the hotel or not, this is a great restaurant to visit in Asheville.
Thank you very much for your review! We are so glad you had a wonderful experience with us and can't wait to welcome you back soon!
Loved this restaurant! Best food we had in Asheville! We took our waiters suggestions for pork chop and steak. Excellent! Had octopus appetizer which was amazing!!
Thank you very much for your great review! We are happy to hear you enjoyed your dining experience and look forward to hosting you again soon!
Meat was tasteless, croquetas were burned, empanadas were soggy and the mariquitas were cold. Never coming back! Food was terrible. I am Cuban- and this is far from authentic.
This was our first trip to Hemingway’s Cuba for my husband’s bday. It was fantastic! The drinks were delicious and the food was superb. We particularly enjoyed the Tostones Board! We’ll be back!
Thank you for your review! We are so glad you chose us for your special celebration and can't wait to welcome you back soon!
Amazing place. Would definitely go back.
Thank you very much for your review. We look forward to welcoming you back soon!
Average food, very slow service.
Wonderful atmosphere, beautiful view of the mountains. The vaca frita was both juicy and crisped to perfection on the edges. A wonderful experience overall and I can’t wait to go back.

It is easy to make a reservation & request outside seating. Very helpful & friendly staff. A friend & I have enjoyed visiting and the beautiful sunset over the mountains.

Most amazing fresh Cuban food. Authentic cuisine with real flavors you would find in Cuba, from the app’s to the deserts. If your not eating here while in Asheville your missing out on a one of a kind gem.
Great roof top dining ! Enjoyed the empanadas, vaca frita and the best Cuban sandwich ever!
Thank you for your great review! We are so glad to hear you enjoyed the food as well as the wonderful rooftop views. We look forward to welcoming you back soon!
Terrible service and the paella had little flavor.
Unfortunately, they were out of some items on the menu that the people in my party wanted to order. The service was slow.
Delicious as always. The temperature and weather was perfect for a roof top brunch.
This is a basic, hotel restaurant with no ambiance. It will do if you're starving and aren't willing to wait for an available table at one of the many other restaurants in town.
Fabulous food, environment and service. Would go back again when in Asheville!
Our waitress Helen was amazing!
Food was great, mountain views spectacular from the outside deck. Loved it! Will return. Plus, easy to valet park there.
We sat on the roof top deck, and were able to view the most spectacular sun set. The service was very good, and the food was absolutely delicious. The menu offered a wonderful array of options, and we had a very enjoyable experience.
We hope the next time we dine here the food is better. Concept and ambiance are great.
Very good food!
We highly recommend Hemingway's Cuba! Everything we ordered was prepared to perfection. The pork chops are not to be missed! The server was pleasant and professional. We definitely will return!
Food (Cuban sandwich) was amazing! Service was slow but definitely appreciate the respect for social distancing. Will definitely be back when we return to Asheville.
The service was much better than our previous visit and paella were excellent.
Would visit you again also your sister restaurant Isa's
Love love love EVERYTHING! A favorite of mine and I always bring my work and out of town guests here for the great food and amazing panoramic view ! Great iutdooor seating area
Sat outside on the patio, beautiful night. Food was fantastic. Will definitely be back on our next trip to Asheville.
The food was great but the server ignored us for most of the night. I would still go back.
We had made a reservation well in advance and got to the restaurant and were told the that they were closed. They closed the day before due to unforeseen circumstances but did not have the courtesy to let us know. This was supposed to be an anniversary celebration dinner and we couldn't get in anywhere else. Very unprofessional of them to not let us know.
The restaurant didn’t honor the reservation. They even ‘confirmed’ despite the fact that they closed for the weekend. They never notified us and simply turned us away after we arrived. Never going back.
Went out of our way to find out the restaurant was closed and they didn’t cancel or let anyone with reservations know they were closed.
I was very excited to be able to make a reservation even though it was much later than I usually eat. When we arrived we couldn’t get off the elevator at the restaurant. We then had to ask the front desk why we couldn’t get off the elevator and they told us the restaurant was closed due to Covid. I understand they have to control over that, but they should have sent a text or used Open Table to notify their guests. Asheville restaurants that are open are not open at capacity and the city was packed this weekend. We had to walk from place to place to be told that there was nothing available. Again, I understand they had to close, but I would have appreciated any indication that I would have to make alternate plans (especially since my reservation was later).
A group of 5 of us were in town for a girls weekend and were excited about having dinner at Hemingway’s. We showed up for our reservation at 8:30pm (reservation was for 9 pm) and were told that the restaurant had shut down for the night several hours earlier. We did not receive a call, email or text to let us know. While we were trying to figure out what was happening there were many people In the same position. Everyone was pretty upset. There we were, 5 ladies walking around Asheville on a Saturday night trying to find a place to eat at 9 pm which was was pretty difficult. I really wish someone had let us know so we could have made other arrangements.
Didn’t event get to eat here. We showed up for our reservation and were told they had closed down. Open table didn’t contact us and the restaurant didn’t reach out. Very disappointing.
They cancelled our reservations and didn't even call us. They were closed and so everyone was turned away at the door on a Saturday night during covid. Inconsiderate to not just call us so we could have made other plans.
Hemingway's Cuba is rated 4.3 stars by 1029 OpenTable diners.
Yes, you can generally book this restaurant by choosing the date, time and party size on OpenTable. Due to local restrictions, this restaurant may not be accepting reservations at the moment.
