Helm Bar and Bistro and the Cockle Bay Yacht Club is Darling Harbour’s best roof top and open air bars to enjoy delicious, fresh food and mouth-watering cocktails whilst soaking up our stunning harbour views that really are second to none.

We have an impressive capacity of 600 people meaning we can cater to groups of all sizes. We are highly experienced in organising an array of memorable events including birthdays, engagements, farewells, corporate events and many more.

You now have the choice of dining in our brand new venue Cockle Bay Yacht Club situated on the ground floor next door to Helm Bar and Bistro.
Minors must be accompanied by their parent or a legal guardian.

Our food is made fresh and each dish is sent to the table when ready, this does mean that at certain times that all dishes will arrive at the table at different times.

I booked this place, online, from the UK. It would be my 69th birthday ! They didn’t seem to be expecting us. I had to forage for menus then go to order, and pay, at the bar. We had beer and pizza - nothing wrong with that on any other day of the year. The Helm is no bistro. It’s a sports bar with multiple TV screens (we had womens’ basketball). A DJ worked in the background. An (electronic) gaming machine was fixed to one wall. If this is what you want, go to the Helm Bar and Bistro - but don’t bother to book. If you want a somewhat special meal - go somewhere else ….. go anywhere else !

I booked in advance and my table was not ready. Then when it was I was not told. The person greeting us at the door was rude.

Such a nice view, the cocktails were pretty good, the food was yummy. A really nice spot to have some lunch and drinks on a sunny day!

It was a quiet night so no problem with quick service and the drinks were good quality. My friend and I shared the antipasto and it was very good. Only criticism was it had obviously been in a cooler and the camebert (or was it brie?) was a bit too hard. Minor criticism as we enjoyed the food. Staff polite and professional.

Noted in booking the reservation was for a birthday which Helm Bars advertisement showed they had special birthday packages and did not deliver. There was no complimentary drink or discounts. Drinks had to be followed up multiple times. We had to ask 3 different people about a tap beer we ordered as we waited for about 25 minutes.

Great for a casual business lunch.. mixed reviews about the food, the boys didn’t enjoy their schnitzel however my beef burger was fantastic.

I did not like the service, bad service from the entrance with the security to the staff and waiters. The menu options are also horrible.
