This was our second visit and I made reservations because the menu did not seem familiar from our previous experience. Outstanding food, like one of the best dinners we’ve ever had in Richmond. I cannot even express how delicious and innovative it was. 5 stars.

Great cocktails! Food was a bit disappointing for the price. I had shrimp & grits which included 4 shrimp over grits and some sort of sauce ($27). No sides were included.

Another outstanding dinner at Helen's. Chef Clay and his team continue to impress with their very creative and tasty cuisine. We enjoyed several selections from the new small plates and amuse boûche menu. You can easily make a fine meal on these. On this visit, we both had a special Mahi Mahi main. The fish was so fresh and well prepared over a bed of broccolini and corn amongst other ingredients. The fish was topped with a delicate béarnaise. One of the best fish recipes that I have had in RVA in quite some time. We saved room for dessert and had the two chocolate selections. Both were extraordinary. We also indulged in a couple of glasses of wine each during dinner. The by-the-glass selections are great and affordable and compliment the cuisine extremely well. The servers are so welcoming and appear at just the right time throughout the course of the meal. All in all, an exceptional dining experience at Helen's. Bravo to all!

Food was wonderful and different. My sister and I shared 4 Petit plates that were yummy, and our husbands had the steak option which they enjoyed. The wooden booth where we four sat was small and not the most comfortable. But the booth did insulate us from noise and allow us to hear each other well. We will definitely go back!

This was our second time at Helen's (the first was brunch several years ago). Everything was wonderful. The waitress was friendly and the food was delicious. Great ambiance in a historical building.

Excellent service and delicious food in a very comfortable setting. We started with a wonderful Mussels appetizer! then moved on to Roasted Beet Salad & Fried Asparagus with Barotta. we finished with an excellent Shrimp & Grits! All dishes were great and we will definitely be going back. Excellent service from Caroline! highly recommend!

Helens had always been our favorite restaurant in RVA but things have changed a lot from the last time we were there. They are getting away from a restaurant style menu and focus now on small plates and appetizers. They now only have 3 entrees to choose from and the only special they had was a dessert special which was quite good. I know restaurants have to cut corners more now to make money but we probably won’t be back. Our waitress was outstanding so that was a plus.

We were impressed with the atmosphere and decor dated back to 1930s. Our server S. went beyond her best serving our table and checking on us during our meal. We enjoyed our meal thoroughly and will definitely be back. It was the perfect occasion for my wife’s 70th birthday!

Way over priced, servers kept paying attention to their own friends and coworkers who were off the clock, but came in for free drinks. I mean they look like patrons, then two minutes later, they were behind the bar making drinks and talking selfies. I would go on but I'm disgusted. I wouldn't mind it being over priced if the establishment was ran right!

Stopped in after an early show. The cocktails are always seasonal and creative so the Casablanca didn't disappoint. The small plates of fried asparagus and the truffle mac-n-cheese were fantastic and the recomended short rib entre was tremendous. Always a great spot to stop in either for just a drink or a meal. Helens never dissapoints!

We love Helen's. We have dinner before going to Altria Theater every time. Food is great and the service is too. They make it possible for us to have a relaxing dinner and still be at the theater on time. Love it@

In Richmond for a girl friend getaway and dined at Helen’s. Food was delicious! We each had the house specialty of mussels along with sharing the carrots and beet salad. The flavors were absolutely amazing. Not to be missed

Helen's has become one of our favorite dining spots in Richmond. I go there for the mussels which I think are the best in the entire region, but always try a different entree and so far have been completely impressed. Literally everything is great here, small wonder they are always busy.

The food was all good, the food was unusual and delish. The Roasted Chicken has amazing flavor and a unique taste, the Basil Pecorino pasta is delightful. The Shrimp and Grits, though not traditional having no andouille, have a unique “ low country gravy” which is spectacular. Then there is the service. The server/bartender knocked it out of the park. Our every request was met beyond expectation.

I had goggled resturants near the Alteria Theater and Helen's wasnone that came up. We looked over the menue and location and decided to try it. There were 4 in our party and our meals where fantastic. We all plan on going back again. Thank you for making our night out perfect.

Delicious as always! I had the chicken breast and my dining partner ordered the burger. We shared the crispy brussel sprouts. Everything delivered hot and perfectly prepared. And that garlic aioli sauce! I could eat it with a spoon. Helen’s is always dependable for a tasty meal and good service
