Decor, inside & out, was very nice, our waitress was also great and was very attentive. Was pleased to find out that they offer free refills for the coffee. Food was good for the most part, however, my squash soup was not the best it could've been and I do feel like the soups are too small for the price we paid. Other than that it was great!
We made a reservation ahead of time in anticipation of an amazing experience. We spent the weekend on the peninsula and had found a foodie recommendation for Hearth & Vine in chicagomag. Given that it appeared in a list of top ten, we were excited. There appeared to be a wedding on the property the evening we came so that might have been an issue. There was one server available who seemed to be working as best as he could. At one point he was so harried that he guessed at something we'd ordered s and we hadn't ordered at all. Communication with the very near kitchen seemed garbled. We heard the chef go through definition of 3 orders that were up and somehow the table of four that came in far after we did ended up with their meal long before we did (everyone seemed to be eating pizza). Though the server was able to help with wine pairings with the artisan board we started with, we still don't know what we was on it. Maybe it was salami and pancetta with 3 cheeses, one of which seemed to have a maple flavoring, not sure. The forest mushrooms on our pizza were excellent, the goat cheese was not. It added nothing at all to the too sweet balsamic. This was our treat meal for the weekend and typically we would have indulged in dessert but the service of the single server was so slow we were too exhausted to ask if it was even an option. If we'd had more service we might have ordered a bottle of wine instead of glasses. $100 poorer, all in all, this was a disappointing experience for the annual trip I take with my daughter. It wasn't the elegant experience we wanted.
We went to get a pizza as we remembered it being good from a visit years ago. Pizza crust is now made of grape skins instead of typical pizza dough. I imagine it is a cost savings since the restaurant is affiliated with a winery. And, it must be healthy because the crust had no flavor whatsoever and was the consistency of cardboard. We had a reservation, but were told there was no outside seating available as all outside tables were already reserved. Within 10 minutes and before our pizza had arrived, another couple came in without a reservation and were given a table outside. We won’t be back for a long time if at all.
Food options are very limited— when they first opened they had many choices , everything very fresh. It is a better choice for lunch rather than dinner, but they are very accommodating for large groups with children so that is why we go.
My husband and I had a delicious lunch on their lovely patio. We both had the chili and salad combo. The chili was tasty, although a bit more like a soup, and the salad very fresh with a really excellent lemon vinaigrette. I had a glass of pinot noir rose that was excellent.
Large portions for the low price (and delicious)! Brunch on the farm followed with a walk through the horse and goat pastures and finished off with wine tasting. Great experience!
Beautiful surroundings! Don’t always get the chance to dine near horses and goats!
We sat outside under an umbrella and enjoyed the country view of the horses, garden, vineyard, and winery. The food was simple, yet fresh and tasty. We had the mushroom pizza, veggie sandwich, and garden salad with salted caramel ice cream for dessert. Ingredients come right from the chef's garden!
Beautiful patio. Menu fairly limited, food was good though.
Service was not great. We did ask to move as we were in the sun and there arent more than a few umbrellas - they acted out out and irritated. They didn't check on us - had to flag someone down after my drink sat empty for 10 minutes.
Friendly service, nice surroundings but the food was not good. Chicken was rubbery, brisket tough, burgers dry, unimaginative sides. I have not tried the other theme nights but bbq shouldn’t be difficult to pull off.
