I unfortunately did not find this restaurant particularly appealing. I was expecting a much larger place and was surprised to find it was just a hotel bar. I was looking for a bit of glitz and glam yet casual enough to accept being dressed for the base ballgame. The food was good and our waiter, Ceasar was good at his job. We did enjoy and appreciate the birthday treat from the restaurant and thank you for that. Overall, the whole experience was fine but not one I feel the need to repeat. For a less special occasion or some casual eats it would be great.
Our server was fantastic and upbeat.
The reservation specifically asked if we wanted a high top table or a regular table. We specified a regular table, but were instead were seated at a high top that was so close to other guests that we had to move out of the way every time people wanted to pass by. The restaurant's website advertised the Mother's Day brunch menu "all day", but it was not available. We also ordered desserts based on the recommendation of the waiter - a chocolate cake that was layered with white and chocolate mousse. The cake that he brought out was literally a plain chocolate cake. No mousse. Since he described it, you would assume he would notice that it isn't what he told me it was. I had to show him that it was not what he described.
I really enjoyed spending my Mother's Day at Hearsay on Discovery Green with my family the service was superb and exceeded my expectations on such a busy day. I enjoyed the food, staff and ambience so much that I can back the next day with my girlfriends to watch the Rockets game.
Made the mistake of going on Rockets game night. We had made reservations but the hostess staff was so overwhelmed that it took a over 20 minutes to be seated. They were holding an area for a party of 30 that never appeared in the time that we were there. Complete chaos.
This place is really nice. I met up some friends for an early happy hour. The drinks were tasty. The server gave some good suggestions. The chicken pesto pasta was really tasty and the steak special was good. Will definitely come back again
Food was very good and Cecil's service was great. Took a group for a thank you lunch and they were able to accommodate our needs.
Went for brunch before the Astros game. It was perfect. We were seated immediately, the staff was very friendly. Food and drinks were excellent! I would highly recommend, and we will return.
Service was inattentive, the food looked good but wasn't all that. I feel like when I went a year or two ago it was much better
Service here is excellent. Our server was friendly, efficient & knowledgeable. Our water glasses were kept full. The atmosphere was upscale casual/trendy. The food selection was a bit limited but adequate and our seafood dish could have been seasoned a bit more - lacked that little “kick” you expect with a crawfish-shrimp stuffing, but it certainly was good and well cooked. Altogether, an enjoyable experience that we would recommend & repeat.
We loved the unique twists on regular foods. And the drinks were fantastic!
Service, staff, food, drinks and ambiance were all impeccable. The best thing was the attentiveness and promptness of the staff-very smooth and classy.
Fantastic place to meet before heading over to Toyota Center
My son came to visit and after the Astros Game we are there and had a wonderful evening.
We had friends in from out of town and of course, we wanted to show them how great Houston is. I read a ton of great reviews about Hearsay on the Green, and we were going to be downtown anyway so I made the reservations. When we checked in the hostess was extremely rude. I told her we had a reservation and she didn’t reply, just started looking on the reservation list. Our name was at the top so I pointed it out (careful to be friendly and smile ) and she just about ripped my head off, snapping “OH I SEE IT.” Okay...if you see it... then maybe you should confirm so we don’t think you’re still looking for it since you’re just staring at it... even so she didn’t have to be so rude. It was bad enough everyone in our party awkwardly looked at each other. I apologized immediately only to be met with a cold silence. Wooooooooow. Cecil was awesome and the rest of the meal was great but we will never go back there because that girl made our experience SO freaking awkward and weird. When we left we all said bye and she didn’t open the door, say thanks or anything. Super unprofessional.
After a somewhat mediocre experience during my last visit, the general manager very graciously invited me back to the restaurant to make up for the previous visit. I must say that this experience was outstanding. Our waiter was excellent and made sure that we were well taken care of. The food was superb as well. You can never go wrong with the cheesesteak egg roll appetizer. It is always on point. The filet mignon and salmon special entrees were especially tasty. The chocolate cake was very good as well. One thing that is consistently done very well here are the handcrafted cocktails. My husband and I have tried many off their drink menu and have been very pleased with every single one of them. We will definitely be back. It is a great spot for a date night or to have dinner before a Rockets or Astros game.
My husband, daughter and I were on vacation in Houston and ate dinner at Hearsay. Our waiter Cecil was great and even made a special drink for me that was fantastic. There was a large variety of food for all of us (one vegetarian, one picky tween and one foodie). It was a wonderful experience and we will definitely be back the next time we are in Houston.
Four of us met here before a Rockets game. From the hostess, to server, to waiter , to manager they were all very polite and engaging. A pleasent change from most staff energy on a busy Friday evening. We told them we had a tip-off to make , they suggested several appetizers which were outstanding (fried lobster, tuna tacos and cheeseburger roll) then we all had tasty salads that we out promptly so we could make the game on time. This was only my third time there, but it seems to get better each time.
We wound up sitting at the bar since we arrived later and wanted a quick meal before the Rockets game, sitting at the bar we were treated just as special as if we had a private table, he staff here is spectacular and the food is consistently impressive, great ingredients, creative combinations and a fun environment. There was also what seemed to be a DJ or a really good playlist spinning upbeat contemporary hits which was a nice additions, will continue to go back!
Great spot before Rocket's game. Always have good drinks and tasty small bites
Took great care of our volleyball team and the poblano soup was super
My wife and I ate here before a concert at Toyota Center. It is very close which made it a perfect spot. We both had a couple drinks. They have a good craft beer selection and offer flights. They also had some fun signature cocktails.
We shared the charcuterie to start. The cheeses on this were awesome as was the bread. The meats were good but nothing special.
My wife had salmon for her entree. I had a duck breast special. Both were very good.
Service was top notch... very attentive without being overbearing.
I would like to cine back to try their brunch menu.
My group of 6 had never visited this restaurant before but we definitely was impressed!!!! We had 2 lil ones with 2 couples but that didn't change the experience. Me and my boo will definitey be back because I loved the ambiounce!! Bday girl took a picture at the door... she was pleased....
Only came for the happy hour, otherwise too pricey
Went here for the first time before a Rocket's game. the ambiance, food, drinks, and service were excellent. It is walking distance from the Toyota center. The restaurant was packed but the food came out fast.
Received a call to confirm reservation - which was nice. Hostess was great as was server. Water filled regularly; food was outstanding as were drinks. I was there with my niece who I haven't seen in a long time. Will definitely go back again.
Our waiter was not great which impacted our experience. 2 of 5 lunches were messed up and had to be sent back which is awkward at a work lunch however they did discount our bill 15%. The don't have a dessert menu which we thought was weird, so instead the waiter stated the list of dessert options which was then followed by "but we are out of X and don't have any Y". Overall and based on previous experience at the other Hearsay, I would come back and give it another try!
Was only disappointed with the waiter and the meal prep. My wife had to send back her steak, she requested medium well. It was return still barley cooked, she could only eat parts of it. The waiter could clearly see that she still was not happy with it but he chose not to ask her what was wrong. He only wanted to turn his table. Our bill was $258.00.... I don't think my dog would have eaten that steak!
The food was good but took forever to come out. We received our appetizers and soups/salads immediately but the entree's took over half an hour to receive. When asked why the food took so long, the waiter simply said "it's happening to everyone, we're overcrowded" despite there being plenty of empty seats. We politely informed them we had to wait on our food though and the manager came over and simply said "Do y'all have a problem with the food" in an accusatory tone. We were hoping for some form of accommodation through a dessert or something else, but they would not budge. I would recommend this place as a happy hour spot, but food service could certainly improve.
We made the reservation for my fathers birthday party. I specifically made the reservation for a standard table but was seated in a high top. Since the rockets were playing there were many casually dressed people and since my family had never been before they were extremely disappointed and embarrassed at the way they were dressed. My father ended up taking off his coat because he felt so overdressed. Being sat at the high top caused some issues and arguments not to mention how casual people were dressed took away from the night.
Food was excellent. Great seasonings. Menu small but options were creative and sufficient. Ambiance was perfect. Service was tops. Will eat here again.
Made a reservation here for my birthday as I had been here once before and was impressed, however, I was a bit disappointed in the service and food this time around. The hand crafted drinks and the cheese steak egg roll appetizer did not disappoint. Those items were very good. However, the mushroom crusted steak was not good. It was dry and did not have much flavor. The parmesan fries it came with were cold and tasted like regular fries. And the service was very slow. It took our waitress about 15 minutes to come to our table after we were seated to even take our drink order. It was a busy night, however, that is a long time. They also did not acknowledge my birthday with a dessert as most restaurants do when they know you are celebrating a special occasion. For the price you pay I would say it was not a good value. All in all the second time at this place was a let down.
Brunch with my favorite girls I had one too may mimosas (momosas)!!
Amazing! The food was so delish we wanted more! We will be back!
Date night with my wife.
Would have given a much better review but they over cooked our steak and tuna both.
Too expensive for the amount of food. Food tasted fine, but so little of it for the price paid.
Valentine’s Day Celebration. Our server was excellent and the hostess was so accommodating. Great drinks and good food. Very cozy atmosphere for our date
