About
The dining month menu was ill conceived. We only liked the first course. the wine pairing was also disappointing.
Spencer, my server, was lackluster to say the least. Don't feel welcome or helped at all during our Portland Dining Month experience.
We came for Russian tea experience but operantly its very limited timing. It’s very unclear. Kinda ruined our international women’s date w my wife.
Good food in a mostly quiet atmosphere. Service was not the best with our waiter just disappearing at times...otherwise not bad for brunch.
Excellent Portland dining month meal. Our server was very friendly and helpful, but she was waiting on a number of tables and it appeared the restaurant was understaffed. No one came around to fill our water glasses; we had to ask. Also, the server poured tap water in some glasses where the guest was drinking sparkling water. There was also a long delay in bringing out our dishes, but the food was great once it arrived.
Went here for a family dinner to celebrate mom's birthday, and the team made it so special for us! Our server was super friendly, helpful, and accomodating, and my mom was even given a dessert on the house for her birthday! The food was top notch, but what I enjoyed the most was the thoughtfulness of the team. The cherry on top was when the host said "happy birthday!" to my mom as we stepped out of the restaurant. She was so surprised and delighted at the same time! It was our first time dining here, and everything was great... but at the end of the day, it's going to be about the happy feeling we had as we left... it really is about the experience. Kudos and thank you to the Headwaters team!
It was strange that service took so long with such a small number of guests. They were very kind though but no apologies for the lengthy delays.
We used the Portland Dining Month menu. The appetizer and dessert were excellent. The entree was disappointing. There was tomatillo sauce and it overwhelmed the lobster. Presentation was uninviting.
I won’t a review on their FB page too! My husband and I have been enjoying the March Dining Out for about three years and this was the first time we walked out hungry! The MAIN course was basically soup...with a tiny piece of lobster. The dessert was tasty although we wished we ordered off the menu and saved our money!
Wonderful meal, wonderful staff! Outstanding evening!
For the food, yes. But the service was clumsy, surprisingly so at a high end restaurant.
We went for Portland Dining Month. Both the prix fixe menu and the individual plates we ordered were delicious. Great paella filled with seafood. Will be back soon for brunch!
We went in for a dining month dinner and came away disappointed and still hungry. Do yourself a favor and don’t waste your time or money.
Great place to go before the symphony
Service was not good. Very confused staff, couldn't answer simple questions about food prep, had to repeat our orders multiple times, wrong food was delivered once. Hostess bugged us about our reservation after we had already been seated. Overall service ruined the experience. Food was good.
The food was delicious! It was better than when we ate here a year ago. Service was great as well.
I was a little disappointed in the hamburger. It was a bit foo foo with too much sauce and shredded lettuce. Hard to taste the burger. The salad with Sauvie Island greens was wonderful.
Service was pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. Drinks (Old Fashioned & recommended White Wine) paired well with our dinners. The Smoked Fish Board Appetizer was amazing. So overall, would definitely recommend this restaurant but be aware that most meals are over $25 each.
We were seated promptly though we had arrived about 15 min early.
The food was excellent the service was attentive and we had a great time.
Wonderful pre-Schnitz show meal. Loved the smoked fish platter.
Warm food served cold (calamari salad seemed like the calimari had been fried and held... not cooked to order.) Dishes were under seasoned. Flourless cake was disappointing.
Ambiance was nice, decent wine list. Good option for pre-show dinner if you’re not too particular. Prices were what you’d expect at a touristy place in a hotel.
Top of the list for date nights out!
Our server anticipated that we were heading to a performance at the concert hall next door and expedited our meal even offering to wrap up and store our leftovers so that we could retrieve them after the show. I was quite touched.
The highlight was the Avocado Toast with the added crab cake. It was divine. Served with delicious crispy potatoes, it was the perfect choice for a late morning brunch that kept me feeling full all day.
great dinner before symphony with my mom!
Cobb Salad was uninteresting except for the blue cheese which was very good. Did not find the measly bacon until almost all the greens were gone. Long stems on greens were hard to eat nicely.
We walked in and the hostess greeted us warmly and immediately sat us down. Our waiter arrived shortly and very sweetly provided menu information and obtained our order. The ambiance is warm and inviting. It took a little longer to receive our dinner, yet it was worth it. I got the salmon and it was devine! My sister got the scallops and she enjoyed them, she said they were perfect. We shared the chocolate cake and it is extremely decadent. If you enjoy chocolate, you will love this! Then the cherry on top, one of the waitress took a few pictures of us and was so sweet about it. Great experience!
We had eaten here before and it was good; this was OK. I expected more.
Very good lunch. Great location. Definitely recommend
Headwaters never fails to impress! Amazing food, drinks and service.
Valentines Day
The service was very good. The food was good, but somewhat over priced. The part that will keep me from come back again was what they did with the final bill.
I paid with a credit card (as most people probably do) and on the slip they gave me to sign I noticed that they had already included a 20% gratuity.
I am very offended that this is part of the bill without my ability to decide for myself what the TIP should be.
Also, in the VERY FINE print at the bottom of the menu there is a statement that shows they are including in the bill a 3% charge for some lame thing about a health and wellness fee.???? Really, what the heck is that supposed to be. I'll bet the server never sees any of that.
Then, what really sealed the deal for me was that on the slip that I am supposed to sign (automatically agreeing to pay the 23% tip) was a blank line for me to include a tip.
A TIP!! on top of everything else.
I feel sorry for the server - she was great. Just sorry she has to work at a business that is more concerned about squeezing every last cent from a customer than developing customer relationships and return business.
Headwaters, you need to rethink your sleazy policies. There are other places to eat dinner.
The only thing that could have been better is if they read my request which was a window seating.
Always thought that a restaurant by Vitaly Paley would be excellent. Couldn't be further from the truth. Originally tried to seat us under the spot light in the corner where the extra chairs are stored, no thank you, as it wasn't the last table in the place.
Order taken, wine arrived quickly and it was not a good wine...........did anyone pre taste these wines or did they just buy what was cheapest to them. Drink took 10 minutes so one person was drinking and one was waiting, tacky.
Food arrived really fast, really too fast, but the salad with crab cakes couldn't have been on a smaller bowl so it was very hard to eat. No table cloths, no place mats, minimum linen charges for them. The steelhead at $34 came with a little sauce, no vegi's, no bread. Good taste with the food but the value was not there. They sell you vegi's as sides so they can keep the price point for entrees down and meet the standards of Open table as a $$ rating. Cheap trick.
Will never go back.
Portland has many good restaurants we'll certainly frequent the others now! This isn't one of them.............
Super disappointed by the very limited menu selection. I understand during the holidays the need to limit the menu for the kitchen, but there was not much to choose from. Very very disappointed.
Made reservations two weeks in advance for Valentine's Day. Got seated in the bar area. Service was beyond slow. Took an hour to get our dinner. Skipped dessert because we were tired of being there. Won't be going back
We left 1 1/2 hours from seating to a show next door. Finally after 1/2 hour after asking bus person a few times fir waiter the manager appeared and took our order. 10 minutes later waitress showed up to assure us we’d have food in time for show. We did nit
Had a wonderful evening. Thank you.
We made reservations for this Sunday's brunch.
Food is always A +. Lunch menu is plentiful of choices. Ahi poke bowl is excellent.
Well-prepared, imaginative dishes; attentive, knowledgeable servers; excellent (if pricey) choice before a symphony performance next door.
