Disappointing Mother's Day Lunch at Hazel We visited the newly reopened Hazel for a celebratory Mother's Day lunch, hoping for a memorable experience. Unfortunately, the reality fell well short of expectations. Despite a set three-course menu and a 12:30 p.m. sitting that was meant to run for two hours, our meal stretched out over 3.5 hours. The restaurant was busy but well-staffed, so it was unclear why our table experienced such significant delays, especially when other diners who arrived after us were served promptly. I eventually spoke with management, who were apologetic and offered complimentary drinks, which I appreciated. However, the extended wait time and lack of communication dampened what should have been a special day. The meal was quite expensive for the overall experience, and unfortunately, it left a sour note. I’ve booked my birthday girls' lunch at Hazel every year under the previous owners, and I was hoping this visit would give me the confidence to continue that tradition. As it stands, I’m not convinced the new team has their kitchen timing under control. I hope Hazel can work through these teething issues—there’s potential, but they need to get the basics right first.

Service was friendly but slow to order and for the food to arrive. I arranged a small birthday cake for $90 through the restaurant. It was frozen when served and we weren’t given the leftovers - it just disappeared into the kitchen. Hopefully the staff enjoyed it.

Wonderful experience and the staff are exceptional allowing us to stay longer to talk as it was our combined 70th birthdays. Highly recommend!

From the time we arrived we were made to feel welcome. Without asking,our table for 7 was changed to one in the shade. Much appreciated on a hot morning. Coffee was delicious and although we just had morning tea we were treated as valued customers. There was a good selection of cakes and the scones were given the tick of approval too. Thank you to the staff at “Hazel “ for helping to make a get together of friends even more pleasant.

My family enjoyed a delicious lunch today with professional and polite customer service. The only issue was the temperature inside was very warm. With the doors open to the deck area it did make it rather uncomfortable.
