I went to the hawthorn for my birthday dinner with my family. As a vegan I made sure to reach out ahead of time to know my options. The main vegan options were disappointing. My mom went to order a pasta dish but was informed it was a radish based pasta and not really pasta. We both had the pistachio cauliflower. I had high hopes because I’ve had really good cauliflower steaks in the pasta. This one was only okay. It wasn’t cut like a steak but rather like they cut the head into quarters. The middle was pretty bland and the edges weren’t crispy. Neither me or my mom could finish because it was all just bland soft cauliflower on top of mushrooms and what appeared to be parsnips. However - dessert saved the day. Don’t skip granny’s chocolate cake. It was coated in a hard layer of dark chocolate and was super gooey and delicious! I’d come back, but only for the cake.

We attended high tea. It was overpriced for what it was. The bread was stall for the sandwiches, like it had been sitting out for a while. The cucumber sandwich was so thin it was soggy. The chairs were worn to the stuffing. Not a good look for the historic hotel. The pastries were also soggy. The tea on the other hand was excellent.

Service was very slow. We had the afternoon tea. Normally you expect the server to come and offer a hot water top up at least once. Our server vanished after delivering our tea and only emerged again once we had finished the meal. This left us with the rather flat "sparkling" water to drink.

I’ve been a long -term Fairmont guest, I still have my original President’s Club membership card! So naturally choosing Fairmont Palliser for Mothers Day brunch was easy. However, the food was 100% not up to par and very bland and overcooked (eggs benedict was so basic,boring and no flavor, potatoes overcooked, bacon extremely thin, dry, overcooked) the service was polite and attentive but not very professional to Fairmont standards. I can certainly say I was disappointed as was the whole table. The atmosphere was as always incredible, live music a fabulous touch…but the menu offering and the food itself was definitely a let down. Hopefully this will not be the case the next time I return !

Went here for Mother’s Day tea. The experience was exceptional, and we certainly will come back for tea at some other time. 🙂

I booked brunch for 11:00am with a friend, with spa treatments booked for 1:00pm. First we were seated at a small table in the back that would be more suitable for happy hour, not brunch. There were a ton of open tables but because they were setting up for afternoon high tea we could not be seated there, even though high tea wasn’t for 2 hours. Our server was nowhere to be found for over 10 minutes when we were ready to order, we had to ask the server at the table next to ours if he could come by. We ordered The Hawthorn brunch experience for 2, the starter came somewhat quickly but the second course took quite a while and was not hot when it did arrive. The food itself was just okay and the croissants were missing. But because we had spa treatments at 1pm and wanted to use the hot tub before, we figured we’d be done brunch around noon but by 12:20 we had to flag down the server again just to get our bill. Overall was not a great dining experience for two moms treating ourselves to a Mother’s Day getaway.

Lovely! We had a great breakfast the Saturday of Mother’s Day weekend. They gave us a beautiful chocolate cake for a birthday!
