We had a great night the food was amazing! The atmosphere was so fun and everyone was polite and fun!
Daughter in town for the holidays. Wonderful Evening!
We attend with a party of 7! Service, food and ambiance were excellent! Great place to gather with friends
We were sat by the door so it was really cold as people were coming in, but thats the only area of improvement. Food and drinks were great - so was our waiter
Delicious and fun food choices. Great service!
Sunday brunch was excellent!
My wife and I went to Havana 59 with some close friends on a recent Saturday night. My wife and I loved the oysters on the half shell. Very fresh. I had the scallops and she the New York strip; both were very good. Authentic Cuban touches food and decor. Mojitos. Cigars at a bar. What more to say!
The reason the restaurant was not rated more highly the food service was very very slow and although the wait staff and management were apologetic it didn’t change the fact that food was 45 minutes late. Typically in these situations management would comp something but this did. It happen.
Great space to get together with colleagues, especially for the happy hour specials!
The happy hour is one of the best in the entire town of Richmond!
Loved this place! Brunch was fantastic, the best Mojito's in Richmond & carafe of Mimosa's for only $12! The atmosphere is super-I couldn't ask for better.
Excellent food and great service! I highly recommend the nachos with plantains and the scallops!
Nice atmosphere. Be prepared to be in the cigar smoke as this is part of the charm. Food was well proportioned and fresh.
Everyone was very nice and accomadating. Food is always excellent and love the atmosphere. Very upbeat. Highly recommend and we are repeat customers.
We went for a date night on a Saturday and it was a pleasant surprise. Nice relaxing vibe, good food and great ambiance. Definitely will put them in the rotation and bring friends. All of the food was tasty with hearty portions and the drinks were just right.
We recently went to Havana 59 for brunch after seeing their menu. So glad we did! We started with a pitcher of Mimosas, which is always a win. There were 4 of us and we each got a different dish, and everyone was more than pleased with their food. I had the shrimp and grits, and I can honestly say that this is probably the best shrimp and grits I've had - EVER! I highly recommend you try Havana 59 - you won't be disappointed. The atmosphere is wonderful and it's so enjoyable to sit by the open windows (weather permitting, of course!).
While most of the food was very good, it was poorly plated and there wasn't much of it.
A Spring Roll app was delivered that only had three rolls. Each roll barely more than one bite. There were four of us sharing this and one other app, the Cuban Nachos.
The nachos turned out to be the star of the night, but the plantains used as chips were few (4 slices) and we ended up with a plate full of toppings and no chips.
A $28 dollar scallop dish with only 4 scallops and some flavorless corn puree really needed something green on the plate. The scallops were very well cooked and very tasty but NOT worth $7 each.
The wait staff was very nice but we ended up being there for THREE hours, not by choice. Basically (and this is not exact) it took 45 minutes each for drinks, apps, entrees, and desserts.
While not a one star review, we won't be going back.
We went there for a birthday and had the worst experience. It took us 15 minutes to even get water and then another 20 to get drink drinks. The server didn’t put in one of the entrees and didn’t tell us until 30 minutes after everyone else got their food so we thought maybe it was still going to arrive, if didn’t. Three of the guys ordered Cuban coffee and they all came out differently. Boyfriend (birthday boy) ordered the scallops and spent the night in the bathroom. The server would have made way more off us if she was actually around for us to order drinks and more food. She was terrible. She said it was her first night on the floor but why that became our problem was beyond me. It wasn’t even busy! Our reservation was for 6:30 on a Thursday. There was maybe 2 other tables and a few people at the bar. When it came time for checks she got that way wrong and tip was automatically included ! Ended up paying $100 for food that made us sick, 4 drinks and an app. I finally had to get the manager and she gave us a $30 gift card to try to get us to come back instead of comp’ing something while we were there. We do not plan on ever coming back therefore the gift card is just a haunting memory of our terrible experience. Luckily we had a good group of people that came in from out of town that were happy just to be together but we were so embarrassing for bringing them here.
Loved open air seating. Great happy hour.
Haven’t dine here in a few months, disappointed in the portions. Look like the portions are much smaller.
Great happy hour food and drinks as always!!!
Went with two of my co workers/ friends. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food and ambiance was amazing. The paella was amazing. A nice little touch you can fill out the postcards that your receipts come in and they will mail them out to whoever you choose. Definitely will go back when I’m in the area.
The happy hour menu is excellent and of course the mojitos are the best in town!!!!
We made a reservation for 4 people for 11 am this past Sunday. We arrived at the restaurant to find the doors locked and no one working. A Havana bartender showed up for work a few minutes after 11 and was also surprised to find the restaurant closed. This was extremely inconvenient.
First time at this location, loved the atmosphere. Sat facing 17th street night market. They were absent a few people in the kitchen and there was a big wedding party upstairs. We waited a very long time and the waitress was very apologetic. The manager came and apologized and comped our meal, which was extremely nice. We weren’t upset at all, the mood was very festive. will definitely come back.
So noisy we could hardly hear ourselves think. We did appreciate attentive service at a very busy time.
Great for drinks, but don't eat here. We received our paella and the seafood was not properly cleaned before cooking.
The food and service were very good. The bar was great for ambiance and the drinks a reasonable price. I would recommend this restaurant.
Awesome night. Love that you can have a cigar.
Not for Brunch, I do not understand why the chef did not succeed on Eggs Benedict, it was not tasty at all, they need a new chef
Fun restaurant with interesting food. Only caution is that there is no A/C although on the night we were there the daytime temps were in the upper 90s and the restaurant was a bit warm, but comfortable.
Havana 59 was everything my wife and I were expecting and more. We previously discussed doing our wedding reception there based on things we had heard and seen but pivoted due to such a small service. We have been wanting to come for over a year now and our first experience did not disappoint.
We each order our own different mojito and they were perfect.
For appetizers we ordered the empanadas and Cuban springs rolls. Each were packed with flavor. Perfect start to the meal. Then we order the 2 serving portion of the 59 Paella and it was to die for. All the while our waiter was fantastic, even helping with a wine recommendation when the one we ordered was out.
After the meal (we sat on the non smoking side) I inquired if it would be okay to switch to the other side and continue with drinks and a cigar. Our waiter accommodated the request and we went to the other side with our full drink menu and a cigar menu.
The evening was perfect from beginning to end. Would recommend to anyone who asks.
Enjoyed the experience will visit again
Great place for food and a smoke. Any cocktails out off the list of specialty drinks seem to be a challenge for the bartenders.
Had a blast with family @ H59. I've already told other family members and friends that it was a great and we'll do it again soon. Food was great, the service was super and the atmosphere was perfect. Had a chance to spend some time with the owner, and he and everyone working there seemed just as nice as they could be. I believe it was time well spent.

Food was great and service was exceptional. Love the paella.
The restaurant was prepared for our large group and served us right away. Food was great!
As always, this is a great spot for happy hour. The mojitos are the best in town and the Cuban nachos are the absolute best!
We were in Richmond for 10 days of house/dog sitting and during that time we were at Havana 59 twice for dinner, three other times for Happy Hour and one time for their salsa lessons. We liked their open air setting and although it was crowded both times we were there for dinner the crowds didn’t bother us. We liked the food and the Mojitos were very good. Next time we are in Richmond we’ll be back.
