I think they were understaffed. the lovely waitress did make every effort to right the wrongs which we appreciated. the food was very good. the cocktails were delicious. the service can be better... annnnnd the ladies room was very DIRTY. I would recommend HC&B to a friend but I'd be sure to let them know the things I observed first.

My husband and I arrived at the restaurant around 2:15 on a Saturday afternoon. There were not many available tables, and we had a reservation, but you still have to choose your seat. Initially, the only place available was a small table which normally would have been fine. However, all of the other tables were full and we had to squeeze our chair in so close to the table that we had to sit sideways. We opted to wait until there was somewhere else to sit so that we could enjoy our meal. We only waited about 5 minutes before something opened up and we were still waiting for our order, so it was not a problem. Our food arrived in about 10 minutes and it was piping hot. The chicken and the catfish were just as we remembered from our Chicago days, delicious. The staff was super friendly and helpful. That can be a deciding factor when determining where to spend our "eating out" funds. As for the 18% gratuity, in my estimation, it's not so bad. They seem to have "specials of the day" so the prices are reasonable, and the staff are working hard. We will definitely be back soon and have already told other "Chicagoans" about it.

Made a reservation and were still ignored for 15-20 minutes. Once we were sat down, we waited another 20 minutes before we were approached with water or drink service. It’s not like the restaurant was booked to the gills or anything. The food was quite good but the lack of acknowledgement and service truly takes away from any joy of the place. Max, was a pleasant individual who works there. We recommend the catfish, shrimp and wings. Set aside an afternoon!

Food was delicious. Only complaints about the food is that the fries could use a little seasoning. However, you forget about how good the food is after waiting an hour for simple appetizers and 35 minutes more for the food. Also served by people who are clearly tired and do not want to be there. Our food all came out separately too which was very inconvenient. Great food but experience was 100% RUINED by the service

Heard about this spot from a FB friend, so I rolled thru with a couple of foodies and we made it happen on a Friday nite. I ordered the chicken tenders and a side of shrimp and the rest of the crew decided to have fried fish and chicken combos. The mixed sauce is just what I needed and I also took home lots of leftovers. Will I be back, yes but taking the train as I am not giving up another $20 for parking, hell, that was more than the meal.

I like the old school Chicago/ counterstyle way better. That being said, I understand this is the more upscale version. Menu is on point, prices for the chicken dinners are what I expect for Hollywood (though the pizza puff is mad cheap, and legit). Everyone working there is really nice and the food overall is on point. My complaints, and this may be due to their recent opening and needing to iron out the flow, but the food took way too long to arrive (I understand it’s made to order but a full hour to get all our food, all coming out one at a time? Not satisfactory). And there was a lack of cashier service. They got my order wrong, and I didn’t realize it until an hour later when we were waiting for food I know I ordered but wasn’t on the receipt and I didn’t notice until I checked it. And there were more than a few times where there were huge lines and nobody at the register. Like, at all for minutes at a time. Not sure what that was all about. I hope they’re able to figure out those wrinkles because the food is legit and I do appreciate it being there.
