Harold's Chicken & Bar
Seasoning on point
Miguel Nunez was awesome!!! The food was great!!!!
I think they were understaffed. the lovely waitress did make every effort to right the wrongs which we appreciated. the food was very good. the cocktails were delicious. the service can be better... annnnnd the ladies room was very DIRTY. I would recommend HC&B to a friend but I'd be sure to let them know the things I observed first.
My husband and I arrived at the restaurant around 2:15 on a Saturday afternoon. There were not many available tables, and we had a reservation, but you still have to choose your seat. Initially, the only place available was a small table which normally would have been fine. However, all of the other tables were full and we had to squeeze our chair in so close to the table that we had to sit sideways. We opted to wait until there was somewhere else to sit so that we could enjoy our meal. We only waited about 5 minutes before something opened up and we were still waiting for our order, so it was not a problem. Our food arrived in about 10 minutes and it was piping hot. The chicken and the catfish were just as we remembered from our Chicago days, delicious. The staff was super friendly and helpful. That can be a deciding factor when determining where to spend our "eating out" funds. As for the 18% gratuity, in my estimation, it's not so bad. They seem to have "specials of the day" so the prices are reasonable, and the staff are working hard. We will definitely be back soon and have already told other "Chicagoans" about it.
Made a reservation and were still ignored for 15-20 minutes. Once we were sat down, we waited another 20 minutes before we were approached with water or drink service. It’s not like the restaurant was booked to the gills or anything.
The food was quite good but the lack of acknowledgement and service truly takes away from any joy of the place. Max, was a pleasant individual who works there. We recommend the catfish, shrimp and wings. Set aside an afternoon!
Just trying and was pretty good
Food was delicious. Only complaints about the food is that the fries could use a little seasoning. However, you forget about how good the food is after waiting an hour for simple appetizers and 35 minutes more for the food. Also served by people who are clearly tired and do not want to be there. Our food all came out separately too which was very inconvenient. Great food but experience was 100% RUINED by the service
Heard about this spot from a FB friend, so I rolled thru with a couple of foodies and we made it happen on a Friday nite.
I ordered the chicken tenders and a side of shrimp and the rest of the crew decided to have fried fish and chicken combos.
The mixed sauce is just what I needed and I also took home lots of leftovers.
Will I be back, yes but taking the train as I am not giving up another $20 for parking, hell, that was more than the meal.
They ran out of cat fish and didn’t tell us til after waiting and hour for our food
I like the old school Chicago/ counterstyle way better. That being said, I understand this is the more upscale version. Menu is on point, prices for the chicken dinners are what I expect for Hollywood (though the pizza puff is mad cheap, and legit). Everyone working there is really nice and the food overall is on point. My complaints, and this may be due to their recent opening and needing to iron out the flow, but the food took way too long to arrive (I understand it’s made to order but a full hour to get all our food, all coming out one at a time? Not satisfactory). And there was a lack of cashier service. They got my order wrong, and I didn’t realize it until an hour later when we were waiting for food I know I ordered but wasn’t on the receipt and I didn’t notice until I checked it. And there were more than a few times where there were huge lines and nobody at the register. Like, at all for minutes at a time. Not sure what that was all about. I hope they’re able to figure out those wrinkles because the food is legit and I do appreciate it being there.
Good food. Nice atmosphere. Service took a while and the reservation process was loose. This place is great, more people should know about it.
The food was good, but location in ATL had better food. My order wasn’t correct the first time. I ordered a to go and that wasn’t correct either. Seemed that not enough staff to fully support whole restaurant which is why my orders weren’t correct; 1 bartender for whole restaurant , 1 person taking orders and 1 security guy on a Saturday night.
Taste just like home in the chi on 71st. I recommended all my friends and family here in southern Cali to come try y’all food.
Didn't have a majority of the items listed on the menu. Owner was very passive aggressive, rude.
I had a reservation I got there they were closed no good never again
Pretty pricey for two smallish pieces of chicken, fries, slice of white bread and a couple tablespoons of coleslaw. $10 beer didn’t help. Chicken was good but should be at fast food prices. Waiting time is long. Only plus is the staff was friendly. My Chicago friends laughed when they saw the menu and the super inflated prices. Too bad, Harold’s was originally started for access to all due to their prices. Marketing folks got it all wrong. Should have found a location more accessible and lower rent like Gus’s. What a shame.
Chi-town native here & was so happy they were finally opening, but I'ma tell you now: Don't do it! They need to get their stuff together operationally, cause right now, it's unacceptable. Raggedy. Had reservations on Sunday, 11/24 for 3pm. Didn't get any of our order until around 4:30. Not kidding. And they were not crowded. And no one that worked there seemed that pressed about the poor level of svc going on either. Only had 3 orders: 6 wings f/myself, a fish & chkn combo for my friend, & chkn tenders f/my kid. Was told we could order drinks once we sat, but no one ever came, so had to go to the bar ourselves. The server w/dreads kept trying to crack jokes, but that only made it more lame. My friend ordered a combo w/fish & chkn, only to be told over an hour later that they're out of fish (just opened on Friday, so make it make sense). My chkn came out w/the mild sauce on the side in little containers, which was disappointing, used to the sauce actually being ON the chkn, unless you tell them otherwise. OH, & they automatically add an 18% gratuity, so watch that (I actually give 20%+ as a rule, but whatever), but this time, it annoyed me, since they were so sub par on the service side. So, no, given the hassle of dealing w/Hollywood Blvd, & the level of svc, I wouldn't go again. Hopefully, they'll make themselves available on DoorDash/GrubHub/Postmates, etc. Otherwise, I'll wait until I'm back home in Chi to get my Harold's fix.
I flew down from San Francisco for the weekend and they cancelled my reservation on me with no explanation.
Worst experience ever didn’t even get seated at all my reservation was for 915 got there at 8:45 and waited all Ask the gentleman when would I be seated every 30 minutes he was rude and said didn’t I just tell you 30 minutes ago he will be seated shortly where did all the way until about 1045 to be seated and still no seat before leaving asked to gentlemen Was there any chance of me getting a seat he will he said hell no by that time I was fed up and left and it was about 1045 a couple minutes before 11 o’clock
It took a long time to get our food and our bill afterwards but this was understandable as it was the Grand opening the busiest time to check them out. There were way more customers than the norm this day. The food was great and vibe was pretty chill. I loved it reminded me of when I used to live in Chicago. I would definitely recommend Harold’s Chicken LA!
