Absolutely loved the food, especially the Peking duck and the crab. The best Chinese food I ever had.
location was beautiful- didnt get same service as other patrons
all the food seemed to be fried
Great food. Good wine buys.
Singapore chili 🦀🌟🌟🌟
This has become our go to for celebrating. The food is amazing.
Overall, food was great except the hot n sour soup which was too sour but not spicy hot at all to my disappointment!
The food was good however the busser are too quick to clear our table. My friend was mid bite and the busser grabbed the plate from her. Everyone at the table was taken aback as he didn’t even ask us if we were done with the plate.
The black tea and Chrysanthemum tea mix was hot and flavorful. The service was excellent, attentive, but not bothersome. The food was fabulous. The variety, the freshness, the taste was exactly what I expected in a good tea house. Everything was so good that I didn't have room to order off the menu. You really need to try the sesame balls with purple yam. I will be back.
We ordered one of the rest week menus. Every dish was so carefully prepared and perfectly cooked. We will definitely come back for the black cod and Peking duck! Forgot to take pictures because it was too good!
This restaurant is very noisy.
We went on chinese new year eve, the place was packed, and reception was absolutely chaotic. We stood at the entrance (from the shopping mall) for 10 minutes, no one even came to acknowledge us. I had to walk around and hunted someone down, told them we had a reservation, and they didn't seem to care if we had one and didn't ask my name (didn't even check - so probably did not check us into Open Table system). Found us a table, and then pretty much ignored us for another 10 minutes. When the waiter did come, he was polite, and helpful, and was attentive for the rest of the night. The food was fine, similar to R&G, prices are about the same too. Maybe it is more sane the rest of the year, we'll try again at another time.
I went here with three other friends during lunch on Friday. From the very beginning to the end, we had such a frantic, stressful and frustrating time. We came to this restaurant because we had seen a lunch menu for Restaurant week in the Restaurant week website. When we got there, we were told that they were not doing restaurant week. Then the waitress was speaking in Chinese to another waitress and she told us that she will ask the manager. She said this in a snarky way. Then the manager came to our table and told us they don’t do restaurant week as if we were stupid and liars for saying we saw their lunch menu on the website. The manager and the waitress then talk in Chinese right in front of us and after awhile she says she’ll come back with something. She came back with a dinner menu for restaurant week. She says she could make something up for lunch if we wanted. Dinner menu was not what we came here for so we just decided to order a la carte.
Once we decided what to get, it took us forever to catch anyone’s attention. The place was so packed and all the servers were so frantic that we didn’t get any attention. After we finally placed our orders, the dishes came out slowly. While waiting for the dishes, the servers with dimsum carts would stop by our table every two minutes (I am not joking) and ask us the same thing and try to get us to take the same dishes we just said no to since we ordered a la carte.
When the dishes came, they were honestly just ok. Given how expensive each dish is, they were purely just ok.
I also want to say that in the beginning, when we got there, some of us were told that we did not have a reservation and cannot be seated. After awhile they realized that we did and sat us. All in all, this place is a chaos and service is bad and food is ok. I will not return.
I want to go back and
Food was nothing special but very overpriced. Service was extremely slow at 6:00 before they filled up. They told me they validated my parking but did not so i got hit for the full price of parking. Just was not worth it. Many better places nearby
Celebrated a friend’s birthday at the bar, and it was excellent!
Best DIM SUM in San Francisco!!!
Every dish was delicious
It is good Cantonese food at reasonable price
They kept changing our plate out when we were still eating from it. I had to tell them to stop. The pricey food was taken away from us before we can finish it. Definitely too pricey for them to rush us out.
We had a party of 9 . The server was great . The food delicious . Only negative was being in a private room . Will be back .
Harborview Restaurant is a hidden gem with waterfront views at the Embarcadero in San Francisco. First of all it is elevated, elegant classic Chinese dining. The extensive menu offers everything from dim sum to roasted whole duck. There are vegetarian options, seafood and classic Chinese favorites.
My husband and I dined at a table for two and enjoyed watching the many family tables of ten eating family style. The food was excellent, and freshly cooked from the kitchen. Servers were knowledgable and attentive.
This was Chinese dining at it's best!
It was great
Based on the ratings, I had high expectations for this restaurant. The food was just bland, boring and very disappointing! The $90 lobster was fairly tasteless, the fried rice with brown rice and other healthy rices was also a disaster. The only dishes that I can recommend are the pot sticker and soup dumplings (dim sum off the menu). Very expensive for the taste experience!
Excellent banquet style meal for the whole family. Beautiful view, fantastic food & great service. Will certainly come back in the future.
Good food, good drink.
I was expecting a high end food quality and service if I am paying that much for a dim sum meal. However, the food was pretty good but nothing more than a decent good dim sum restaurant in the Bay Area. The menu choice is limited. The service overall may be slightly better than most other Chinese Restaurant but the bar is set extremely low when comparing the typical chinese restaurant service. One positive note is that you can park at Embarcadero and this may be a big deal to some people. Overall, I don't think this restaurant provides a good value for your $$$.
Great environment with fresh prepared dim sum. Exactly what I expected and they did not disappoint. I would absolutely recommend and will be back.
The food was very good. However, the service was severely lacking. The restaurant is too large for the number of wait staff on busy lunch days.
Very good food and service
We would have to have better communication before recommending the Harborview. When we arrived we were told there was no record of our booked reservation, after meeting with Angel at the restaurant,
emails, text messages and phone conversations with Angel. The internal communication on the part of the management was unacceptable. Once the matter with the room promised, we were seated in a very nice room the service was excellent.
The staff was attentive and nice-very different from my usual Cantonese restaurant experience. The restaurant was clean and pretty located on the second level of the mall across from the ferry building overlooking the harbor.
Food was the highlight! Salt and pepper crab was amazing. I am a small girl but ate the whole thing myself for my meal. So tender and flavorful-50 bucks.
The shrimp my husband ordered-har gow and walnut shrimp was delicious too!!!
Want to take my family here on my next visit.
Food was absolutely terrific but restaurant was so noisy we could hardly think let alone talk to each other. Restaurant knows this, though, and is working on getting some sound proofing installed. Looking forward!!!
This is a decent place to go for a business lunch, or a family dinner, or even just a friend gathering. Not the best dim sum on the planet, and you have to fight to get a waiters attention when it’s really busy, but that’s pretty much par for the course. We did enjoy the harNot the best dim sum on the planet, and you have to fight to get a waiters attention when it’s really busy, but that’s pretty much par for the course. We did enjoy the shrimp dumplings and the Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce. The sticky rice is also pretty delicious.
The food came out regularly during the early part of our lunch ( between
1130-12p ) but noticed that as more people arrived, the food carts did not come. We ordered a vegetable dish that never arrived and had to remind the wait staff of the order.
Overall, the dim sum lunch was delicious but there was a long gap of
food being brought out.
If I could give negative reviews for service I would. We waited over an hour for two measily dishes (a veggie and noodle) to show up. By the time I stormed back into the kitchen to demand my food, they finally revealed to me that my order has never been placed. THIS despite the fact that I had asked 3 different servers at the 40 minute mark If my food would be coming soon since my kids were starving to which each replied “yes, soon”. This means they no one ever actually checked otherwise they would have realized the waiter forgot to put in the order completely. Restaurant is understaffed and the remaining wait staff is so distraught that they basically just lie to diners. HORRIBLE experience that I have to storm INTO the kitchen just to find out the truth
I woiuld recommend this restaurant to friends.. We were lucky, because the parking was free this day. I don't know if the restaurant has validation parking, which will be really good
My favorite dishes are pepper crab & baked sea bass. They were delicious as usual. The dried scallop egg white fried rice is a bit disappointing as the rice was very dry. The beef stew in soup was excellent. Overall, the service & food are good.
Lovely experience! Service was great and all our servers were very attentive, offering dim sum to us once we sat down. Food was good and of great quality, with a good variety of all dim sum classics. Location right in Embarcadero right next to the ferry building was a plus :)
