First time for brunch. Not the best we have had there. Group of 6 split between breakfast and lunch items. Some food like warm and all seemed to need more seasoning. Great service though.
The food is uniquely done and the daily specials are very good. The rib eye steak is one of our favorite go to meals there.
Outstanding service and food. Great little comfort food restaurant with a great vibe.
The food is actually quite good. The service was terrible. We sat for 15+ minutes and had to go to host to get any service. Then server basically did nothing to serve our table. No water refills, asking for another drink, etc...
Our mains we good but not exceptional. Wine flight was quite good (I had the California flight).
One of my favorite places to eat in Fairfax.
Great service and food in a lovely old house!
Loved the Chicken Limone!
I will for sure come back again soon, and for sure recommend this place to everyone.
We love dining at Hamrocks! Such wonderful food, friendly and attentive service, and all with a homey atmosphere. This place is a gem.
I love the atmosphere at this Fairfax City neighborhood gem. It's a quaint old house, great porch seating if you don't mind the traffic on 123 (sit towards the back side). We sat inside which has multiple rooms that have a cozy feel. The only reason it's not 5 stars overall is the acoustics. In the front room, it was very hard to hear the waiter even though they do have sound panels on the ceiling. That will not prevent me from going back. I had one of the specials, a shrimp dish that was outstanding. It's worth going for sure.
Food and service were okay. Went with a friend for dinner. Felt like we were forgotten a couple of times and had to flag down staff. Food presentation and flavor did not live up to expectation.
May give it one more chance, but will try their brunch menu.
Booked a surprise birthday party here, and they did not disappoint. Servers were very attentive to our group of 6 and made for an overall wonderful experience. Sitting on the porch in back overlooking the garden was great, and it felt like private dining. I had the crab cakes, recommended by the server as their best seller; they were excellent, mostly meat with very little filler.
We paired this with an excellent California pinot noir; can't wait to come back and try more of their great wine selection. My only complaint is that we wanted to do a round of scotch; unfortunately they are still working on their liquor license. Guess we will have to pre-game next time.
Overall a great dining experience, and will come back!
Not my first, definitely not my last. Hamrock's adds an additional point to the board with another very smooth evening. Trying something new I went with the pork chop dinner. Once again, just phenomenal. Juicy tender meat, and a gorgeous sauce blend.( I should've asked about it, because it really did go quite nicely with the potatoes and Brussel sides). After tonight I will be returning more often. This place is just solid, all around, all the time.
Hamrock’s accommodated a group of ninth graders going to homecoming. They had a great time.
The food was very good. Had the mini crabcakes and the stuffed shrimp with crab risotto everything was delicious. Staff was friendly and our server David was on point.
Was in the area and quite to return to this gem in Fairfax City. Turn's out Hamrock's definitely still has it; I actually liked their Sunday night atmosphere quite a bit; it was very laid back and cozy. I ordered the crab cakes, which the waiter pointed out as their best seller. They were fantastic -- almost all crab, very little filler, and gluten free! -- and went great with the California chardonnay (Banshee -- Sonoma Coast) pairing. My fiance got the surf and turf special (filet and crab cake), which apparently they do every Sunday (definitely an incentive to return). Overall it was a wonderful experience as always, and would recommend to anyone in the Fairfax/Vienna area.
We were there for their Sunday night Filet & Crab Cake special. It was our second time there and everything was still wonderful. We throughly enjoyed our evening from food to service.
Will definitely be back and I can't recommend this place enough!
Servers were extremely attentive and helpful. Food was a 10/10. I have been to Hamrock's multiple times and decided to step outside of my comfort zone (of repeatedly eating the tasty penne pasta with the shrimp & sausage) and try the Grilled Filet Mignon of Beef. This entree is easily the best thing I have tried so far & I recommend all to try it! The popovers are a nice treat to begin the night. Perfect place for any occasion; date, party, business meal, etc. Will be dining there again in the future, no doubt about it.
Great food, place and ambiance. All staff were very attentive and helpful -- and had an excellent evening there. Will 100% come again!
The servers were very kind and patient with a bunch of "old ladies" who were almost too busy talking to get to the ordering effort. They also noticed that it was birthday party and nicely and deliciously acknowledged it -- thankfully, without singing to us.
Some of the "girls" did have a little problem with the steps going in and didn't see any more accessible option.
The 1840 house is a charming restaurant location. We tried it for Sunday lunch. Sangria was refreshing and tasty. Crab cake sandwich was very good and the fries were thick and crispy. The accompanying Slaw was bland. The seafood salad stuffed avocado was also bland. The banana pudding ice cream was delicious.
The food was great, the ambiance was nice, although we were seated 15 minutes late at a highboy table in a corner despite having a reservation. The server was friendly and knowledgeable, but appeared to forget about us multiple times so our dinner ended up taking 2.5 hours, which was considerably longer than it should have been. He also forgot about the dessert we ordered and tried to cover for himself by saying it was a strange night and there were multiple new people starting and old employees leaving. None of that matters to me, the customer, it should be invisible and seamless.
We drove by Hamrock's so many times with the intent of trying them out at some point. We finally did and it was a wonderful experience - food, service and the comfort level of the restaurant itself. The food and wines are very, very good. Kudos to the chef/owner and the staff. We did not have dessert ( the entrees were ample!). We will return and have already told others in the Woodbridge area about our positive experience.
We and our friend enjoy a deliberate pacing to concentrate on our food and company. We were very much accommodated. The food was excellently prepared, the vegetables were crisp and our service matched the meal. This was our first visit but not our last. I was especially appreciative and enjoyed the gluten free fried chicken...crispy crust but very moist meat.
Unique twist on good old favorites!
Love this restaurant. The ambiance is lovely and the food is delicious. I got the white gazpacho soup and basil scallops. This is my 3rd time at Hamrocks and each time was wonderful. I love the fact that the building has a history.
While the ambience is fantastic, the food wasn’t great. If all you care about is a quick appetizer and a glass of wine, it’s probably fine. We were all looking forward to a great meal and were all disappointed.
In town for George Mason baseball camp and came across Hamrock’s. Member of our party requires gluten-free options and menu had plenty of options. All meals were exceptionally prepared. Only negative was service quality, which was mediocre. Waitress was less than attentive so we had to intercept other servers to get assistance. When we were able to gain the attention of our waitress, her standard response to our statements of thanks was the gratuitous ‘no problem’.
Definitely would eat here again and would recommend, but will be hopeful we get a different server.
We were looking for a nice restaurant to go to before a movie. The food and service here were fantastic. The brussel sprouts appetizer was so good, one patron ordered another to be her meal along with a salad! I had the special, red snapper and it was delicious and cooked to perfection! My husband had the steak and loved it! Beautiful presentation and a good variety of meals to choose from. The history of the place is interesting.
This restaurant had great reviews we should have asked for clarification but green pepper-No!). 2. There were countless pieces of eggshells in the benedict. This is unacceptable but it got worse. 3. There was a long strand of hair laying across the second egg. We lost our appetite. We flagged over the waiter we declined. The waiter didn't charge us & apologized again. We left the restaurant hungry, appalled & disappointed.
We arrived for a 6:15 reservation and were promptly seated, as requested, in a quiet corner. All was excellent until the room filled up around 7 pm with two tables that were very, very loud to the point that I could no longer hear my husband. Interesting that the table in the next room, just around the corner from us had two toddlers and that entire table was at a comfortable conversation level. The food is very, very good with many options that are not fried or overly heavy in salt or creams. We will be back. If noise is an issue, we recommend coming earlier vs over the main dinner hour on a Friday/Saturday night.
Good food & ambiance. A lot of dropping things for some reason this visit.
Food was sort of gross; service slow and not friendly. Ordered eggs over-hard and specifically told the waitress I cannot eat food with runny yolk; the eggs came back totally running on everything. Took forever to get the check
The porch at this place is one of the best outdoor eating spots in DC, plus they ACTUALLY READ the special requests on the reservation. The wait staff at Hamrock's is the best in NOVA, our guy Dave was amazing!
It was a pleasure to eat such amazing food. The creme brulee was slightly watery but had great flavor. Ctabcakes were meary and no filler with great flavor. Caprese was excellent! Bread fresh baked and au gratin potatoes were delightful!
Excellent salmon and salad.
Friendly service and delicious food. Thoroughly enjoyable experience.
Food selection and quality was great. Service was slow as a large party came in and overtook the staff. I think maybe they were understaffed. Food was authentic enough we will come back for another chance
Our first visit. Great appetizers (nice portions). We visited during Restaurant Week and the selections were very nice--we enjoyed a crab cake and a shrimp-and-crab with lobster sauce dish. Service was friendly and helpful but sometimes detained by other tables. Noise level can be high if there's a loud group in the room (rooms are fairly small). We will definitely return.
Food was great as well as the ambience. The service was slow and the wait staff wasn’t very attentive.
Great food and atmosphere! Looking forward to going back!
Thanks, Jeremy, for not rushing us off the front porch. Restaurant Week FTW
