Staff, service, food, ambiance....everything was AMAZING!!! Can’t say enough about the wonderful experience I had. I actually dined alone and was treated like royalty (instead of tucked away in a corner like other establishments tend to do). I thankfully was encouraged to try the skillet corn and OMG it was heaven. Thanks Hall’s you’ve gained a customer/fan for life!!
We were visiting Charleston for our 25th wedding anniversary. We were completely wowed by the outstanding service. The ENTIRE staff were exceptionally friendly. It was so nice to really experience the southern hospitality that we had always heard of! The food was off the carts great! The waiters were very knowledgeable about the steaks and could not have been more inviting. It is by far our very favorite restaurants of all time!
Would recommend with a caveat...I was there last week (second time in two years on a vacation to the lovely city). Both times, we were greeted by a Hall family member whose exact words were : "Let me get you a cocktail or glass of wine" in a way that lead us to believe the beverage was to be comped...but, was not...kind of a low way to drum up business. Both times we were there, the tab was a hefty one, upwards of $450.00, so we weren't looking for any handout. I am objecting to the misleading offer. It's a huge turn off, given the priceyness of the restaurant. Food is great always, but, this tactic is graceless.
My wife and I treated my son and his wife to dinner in order to celebrate his taking of his Radiology Board exam. We had a Sunday June 10 reservation at 9 pm and the place was so packed we weren't able to be seated until 9:20. But it was worth the wait.
We started with a nice bottle of Simi Merlot. I had to try a cup of She Crab soup which was creamy and delicious and my wife ordered oysters Rockefeller for the table that we found were over-breaded and the only thing we found disappointing in this entire meal.
My son ordered a filet mignon with truffle butter, his wife had Bison and my wife and I split a bone-in rib eye with truffle butter. Each piece of meat was cooked exactly as we ordered and all were melt in your mouth tender with great flavor. I tried the Bison for the first time and it was amazing. For sides we had the creamed corn, lobster mac & cheese and Brussel sprouts. The corn was flavorful and truly delicious and the lobster mac & cheese was absolutely fantastic. The Brussel sprouts were tender and tasty.
For dessert, my son and his wife took home a caramel cake, which he later said was delicious, and my wife and I took home a whisky bread pudding which was among the best bread budding we ever had.
All told, this meal was absolutely delicious and a memorable experience. I had Hall's on my Bucket List and this occasion was a great way to enjoy it. The price tag for this meal is truly not for the weak but the quality of the food, excellent service and ambiance make dining at Hall's a must-try experience.
This place is amazing!! The food is some of the best I've ever had! Definitely worth a try but plan on spending some money!!
As good as it gets
Came for brunch and gospel. Gospel group didn’t come into our room at all. Wait staff cleared tables to the bare wood and disassembled all tables while we were still eating .
Our family celebrated my son's 30th birthday with Sunday Brunch. It could not have been better!!! The service was outstanding, the food was excellent and the Gullah Singers who roamed the restaurant entertaining diners were a wonderful addition. I made the reservation many weeks in advance. Great choice!
Anniversary Sunday brunch with the gospel singers,
The Gospel Brunch is absolutely amazing. Our entire experience was wonderful. I cannot wait to return!
Fantastic!! One of the best meals of my life! Highly recommend bone in filet with red wine sauce and truffle butter! I am not a sweet eater but had to have some with my bday dinner! The bread pudding was amazing! I dont think I have ever had a desert that good in my life! Not even in Paris!
Halls is 5 stars all the way. We always sit upstairs which is away from the bar and can enjoy a fabulous dinner and conversation at a reasonable level. This particular night we were seated on the 1st level but in a separate room from the large bar. Unfortunately, there was a small bar in that room and a great deal of excitement over the triple crown, so it was noisier than we would have preferred, but not so noisy that we would asked to be moved to an upstairs table. I know if we had asked they would have graciously made the accommodation. Treat yourselves to a dinner at Halls.
The food was absolutely phenomenal and we had great service. It is pricey, but definitely worth it. It’s a must if you come to Charleston! I recommend the dry aged steaks because the flavor was bursting. I would love to go again.
Phenomenal experience from top to bottom. Our favorite place for fine dining in Charleston. Never disappoints!!
Hall's is worth the hype. Our server was awesome, amiable, laid-back yet knowledgeable, and made us feel right at home. The steak was incredible, and the portions were, well, generous. If you're looking to spend a couple hundred on some tasty foodstuffs and great drinks, Hall's is your spot.
Celebrating 3 anniversaries
Wow, best steak we've ever had! Get the bone-in ribeye! Service was fantastic from the moment we arrived. Treated us to champagne for our anniversary. Such a special night south great food.
Excellent steaks! Impeccable service. A must-do for visitors.
Wonderful experience. Service was excellent. Food was outstanding. The top restaurant in Charleston in my opinion
Once again, Hall’s was outstanding. Carrie and Ben were super. And, we discovered another sinful food. The double chocolate cake is one of a kind. The best chocolate cake we have ever had!! Next time dinner just may be a bottle of Napa Valley Cabernet and two servings double chocolate cake. 😍😍
We had a fantastic time as always
The service was impeccable. Food excellent. Received a written thank you note when I got home!
The servers were pleasant, professional and attentive. The food was nicely presented, very good, but I hesitate to say exceptional although close. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and the creamed corn and onion soup was excellent. My filet could have been seasoned a little more. We would go back. The bar is definitely a hot spot.
My husband and I came here for our anniversary. I had only eaten at the bar previously and worried that it was over-hyped. It did in fact live up to its reputation. My husband had the filet, which he said was the best he ever had. I had salmon and it was excellent. The service is impeccable. The only thing that disappointed was the Brussels sports - heavy-handed with cream. We live in Charleston are flooded with great restraint choices. We will be back.
Definitely deserves its rating as a top steakhouse in America.
Everything about the experience was fantastic. Impeccable service,
Amazing food in a great place!
We will be back on our next visit.
My husband and I celebrated our 65th birthdays at Halls Chophouse. Our dining experience was beyond AMAZING. The warmth and professionalism of the staff was incredible. The menu and wine list was excellent and our food was prepared perfectly. It was the dining highlight of our birthday celebration/vacation in Charleston. Do not miss this "Gem" on King Street.
Steaks are cut well and seasoned perfectly. Prepared exactly as ordered. Sides were okay, not great and not up to expectations. I’m sure that may depend on the choice. We had the loaded mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. I’ve honestly had better food at more appropriate pricing. Service is the highlight of the experience. Ambiance is nice. Overall disappointing for $200...half bottle of wine, half Caesar, two half sides, and two 8oz filets with appropriate tip of 25%. Not worth it.
Excellent food good service however our sides were cold
My wife and I were visiting town for vacation and came for our 5th wedding anniversary. We were overall really pleased with our meal and service. The food was top notch. The service from our primary waiter was also top notch. Dan was his name and he was very knowledgeable, helpful, and cared for us well during our meal. The restaurant was also very generous with some complimentary champagne and a piece of cake.
The rough part was that we were seated right next to the bar area where there was a large social gathering happening. People were constantly bumping into the back of my chair and it was quite noisy. I understand a restaurant needs to use all their table to maximize service but I think we got the worst seat in the house. For a meal that was over $200 I expected a little more from the ambiance and a little more attention to detail from the management staff. Simply moving us would have been awesome.
I'm likely to return next time we are in town because our waiter was amazing and the food was really great but I will make sure we don't get seated in the same place.
Everything from the bar to the meal was the best that we have ever had. Totally professional from start to finish.
Absolutely amazing! We celebrated one night of our honeymoon with dinner at Halls. We split the dry aged ribeye and it was a perfect 10/10! We loved the Brussels sprouts and the corn skillet was almost unbelievable! We got the Gorgonzola and mushrooms on the side and together made the food even better! The service was tailored to our requests and it was truly something special. We will definitely be back and it was worth every penny!! Thank you, Halls!
Ask for upstairs when you reserve, as it is perfect for conversation up there. Downstairs is very noisy. You can't go wrong with any of the fillet mignon offerings. Broccolini is great. Service is exceptional and the advice from the sommelier very helpful even if you want the less expensive wine, which, by the way, would be $75-$100. All definitely worth it.
Natalia, the sommelier who helped us pick out two excellent bottles of wine, did an incredible job making our evening memorable!
Awesome as always!!! Can not wait to go back... bone in filet was delicious- yum!!!
From the moment we entered Hall's to the moment we left, we felt special. They knew that it was a milestone anniversary, and we received nothing but the best treatment (more than I can say for several other notable Charleston restaurants where we also dined). Brian and Kyle were our servers and they were very helpful and attentive. Even gave us a dessert on the house. For a special occasion, this is the place to be.
Another outstanding dinner experience at Halls. The entire staff was respectful and attentive. Our waiter (Colin) was the absolute best waiter we've ever experienced. We felt like special guests from the time we were welcomed at the front door until the time they thanked us for coming. Wonderful place and happy we spent our anniversary with them!

There is a reason that it's so hard to get a reservation at Hall's. It is perfect! The food, the service and the atmosphere are all exceptional!
Great steak selections and the truffle butter is amazing! Service was great and good wine selections. They make you feel right at home.
The service was outstanding and the food was wonderful.
Staff very attentive to our needs. My wife and I were celebrating our 30th anniversary and Hall's Chophouse made the dinner a memorable event. We enjoyed learning about their steaks and differences. Took waiter's recommendations and the steaks were delicious and flawlessly prepared.
