H2O Seafood & Sushi - East Islip Ratings and Reviews
Was going to be in the Islip area on Sunday so I checked out all the local Bohlsen Restaurant Group establishments to see who had a good Sunday "meal deal."
I was tempted by Teller's Prix Fixe as Brittany did an excellent job telling me the many food choices on the phone, but Tracy @H2O East Islip made the $24 Surf N' Turf Special sound too good to pass up.
I was greeted by H2O's awesome General Manager, Angela, who I am always happy to see. We chatted a bit and she made me feel welcome as she, and all the BRG managers, always do.
Angela introduced me to my server Elizabeth and told me I would be in excellent hands. As always Angela was right and Elizabeth took great care of me: Elizabeth answered all my questions about the menu, my two water glasses were kept filled at all times (very important to me), and my food was bought promptly and served hot.
The Surf N' Turf was better than I even expected (shrimp with steak) and those hot out of the oven popovers are ALMOST as good as my Mom's.
Angela checked on me a few times to make sure everything was going well. I also saw her check on all the other tables regularly, too, making sure previous diners and H2O newcomers were all happy with their food, drinks, and service.
Kudos to the entire H2O East Islip host, management, wait, and kitchen staffs! I cannot recommend this place enough!
We had dinner reservations for 7:00 PM but arrived early to seat at the bar for a drink. The bartender, Kailey, greeted us right away and was very attentive with several drink recommendations. We decided on a new drink called the Mosaic with was very different but worth it. Our table was ready at 7:00 and had a wonderful waitress (Elizabeth) who understood the menu completely, reviewed the specials and attended to our every need. We decided on some sushi rolls for our appetizers and the hazelnut-parmesan crusted swordfish which was delicious! We were also greeted by the restaurant manager as well as the associate manager during the course of our meal just to be sure all out needs were met throughout the evening. All in all this was a very nice dining experience.
My husband and I met another couple here for dinner on a Saturday night. This restaurant is very nice inside, the staff was very friendly, courteous and right on top of their game. It was a bit loud, but nothing over the top for a Saturday night. The flavor combinations our dishes were outstanding but definitely way overpriced for the size of the portions. Our bill was over $300 (for 4 people) and I was practically hungry when we left. Unfortunately, we expect a better value for our money and won't be returning, but not for any reason other than value for the money. Everything else was wonderful.
Excellent dining experience from start to finish. We were there for the first time and Elizabeth was our server - fantastic. She provided recommendation and helped us with all choices. Food was beautifully presented and delicious. But beyond that, the entire team was accommodating, responsive and worked together in perfect harmony. We had a really enjoyable dining experience and will be back soon!
We had sushi as our main meal and it was well prepared and we'll presented. It was delicious. The service was great and the bartenders miced great cocktails. I especially recommend the Dry Gin Martinis. The Waite service was excellent. Water glasses always full and table cleared at all times.
My husband, friends, and I enjoyed ourselves tremendously. Our waitress (sorry, I don't recall her name) was WONDERFUL. She was attentive and fun. The decor was fresh, pleasant, cheerful, and energetic. The food was delicious. We went during LI Restaurant Week and were so pleased with our selections. My appetizer was a delicious fresh salad followed by salmon over wasabi quinoa ending with a wonderful chocolate torte. Others had the steak perfectly cooked with a wonderful sushi roll. (Sorry, don't remember the roll or the cut of steak.) Most in our group chose the wine pairing option and enjoyed each wine they brought out. We were pleased to discover that they have weekly wine-pairing menus. We will definitely return to H2O in East Islip.
Took about 2 hours to get our entrees, and my and my girlfriends stuffed lobster was very overcooked. They did remove mine from the bill though without more then just my stating the fact of it being overcooked, which was very nice of them. Drinks were ok and other meals that other people got at the table were good.
Cannot believe this was once the Beach Tree Cafe. The Ambiance is beautiful- The menu for the anniversary I thought was creative and at a fair price. The Service was excellent- Far exceeded my expectations. Will definately recommend to my friends and I will be back!
Up until now I had been to every BRG restaurant but H2O in Smithtown; just a bit too far for me. However, when their "comfort food" Beachtree was rebranded as H2O East Islip, I thought I'd give it a go.
As with all of the Bohlsen Restaurant Group establishments, H2O did not disappoint. I went for the $30 anniversary week special three-course meal. I was first served with some delicious popovers and some kind of sweet butter (I think). That was followed by an appetizer of tasty monkfish popcorn (fritters) with a delicious aioli dipping sauce. Main course was a perfectly cooked medium rare flat iron steak and seasonal veggies. The meal was finished off with a yummy apple cobbler made with locally grown LI apples, topped off with a scoop of I assume in-house made vanilla ice cream.
Crissy was my server and as with all BRG staff, her service was impeccable! She was attentive, friendly, and very helpful in my decisions on what to order as the choices all sounded so great.
Kudos to Crissy!
And last but certainly not least, I must recognize H2O GM Angela. As soon as I walked in, Angela greeted me warmly and graciously as we know each other from her days (and nights) working as a manager at Tellers, also a BRG restaurant in Islip. I was thrilled to see such a friendly face here and to hear of her promotion to General Manager. It was great to catch up with Angela.
I look forward to dining again very soon at H2O East Islip.
Thank you for reading!
We went out for date night and were pleased that the East Islip location not only met, but exceeded our expectations. Our server Chrissy was wonderful, and friendly. Our sommelier was both knowledgeable and personable. The restaurant manager Angela was present and attentive to our needs. Wednesday Wine night coupled with the anniversary specials was an exceptional value. We will definitely be returning in the near future!
Sunday was a sad night for service at H2O. Waited 10 to 15 before first person came to the table... bus boy removed all the glasses from the table while clearing the extra settings. After pointing it out to him, he put them back. Asked him for a waiter to take our order. Five minutes later stopped a waitress as she walked by. It was not her table but she took our order. Five minutes later, waiter comes over, acknowledges the waitress took our order, but asked if he could take it again. Wrong apps delivered to our table twice. Point this all out to maitre d. Someone went home sick. After 10 minutes, waiter explains it was his error as he put the order under wrong table. Meal finally arrived. Entries were good. Only had service this bad/confused once before at any restaurant . In that case, maitre d insisted on the meal being free. Not the case at H2O. Have to say, at least everyone was friendly, polite and apologetic.
We enjoyed H2O's anniversary dinner. The monkfish, and sushi, appetizers were great. The polenta, and tilefish, dinners were wonderful, but the lobster dinner was slightly overcooked. The pumpkin cake dessert was the clear winner - the apple cobbler dessert needed a little more sweetness or flavor. The wines by the glass deal was fabulous! We will definitely return for more H2O.
Arrived at restaurant and hostess tried to sit us next to family with small kids on second floor. Only three tables occupied. Meal was rushed. Salad came out while half way though with Sushi. In and out of restaurant in one hour. Appetizer, salad, dinner. Did not entertain dessert as everything was rushed. Food was good. Experience was not.
My husband and I finally got around to dining at H2O. We were pleased with every aspect of the meal. Service was excellent, the food was delicious. The design is lovely and contemporary. I enjoyed the lobster bisque and buttery lobster roll. My husband really loved his swordfish (in spite of what he called the "foofy" preparation - he's a salt and pepper kind of guy.) And when was the last time you had hot, fresh popovers? They were a tasty, cheesy surprise. Give it a try. I bet you'll go back.
This was my first time here and I was delighted. The mussels I had were outstanding and everyone else seemed to also like their food. I would definitely come back for the popovers alone. I would recommend H2O for sure. Our server was good but not outstanding. That was the only weak point, having been to Tellers and Verace. That said, it was a very busy Saturday night but if I could change one thing, it would have been the level of service. Otherwise, great experience.
My wife and I have visited all Boelsen Group restaurants. This was our first time at the new H20 in Islip and it was exeptional.
Lobster Thermidor was delicious. The lobster roll , made up of only lobster claws was a welcome innovation.
Our waitress was very helpful and enthusiastic.
We will be back !
