The executive chef and owner Giancarlo Balestra with his wife Nancy bring the vibrant flavors of his native hometown of Rome, Italy to Hilton Head. The couple who met in Rome 28 years ago discovered their shared passion for food and adventure and have since owned and operated restaurants in Aspen, Co, Winter Park, Fla and Saratoga Springs, NY. They fell in love with Hilton Head and decided to jump into this new exciting culinary adventure, hence the name Gusto, which means flavor and taste in Italian but also means a zest and enthusiasm for a delicious taste of life. The restaurant has a full bar, extensive wine list.

Great service by Antonio. Food was excellent.
Amazing service. Our waiter is very attentive. The food was fast, fresh, and absolutely delicious. We sat outside and even in the cold temperature there were heaters in place for us and we were very comfortable. Our table was set and ready for us when we arrived. Will definitely return when in town again.
Loved the food. We had the Carbonara and Bolognese and finished it off with a gelato birthday dessert, Amaro digestivo, and a cappuccino. The staff was attentive and so very kind. Will dine there again.
Greeted nicely upon arrival. Staff very knowledgeable and attentive. Food came out promptly - had to wait for one meal, but they were slammed. Overall good experience and worth a try. Dessert was delish
First time there at this new location, food was excellent.
Had a wonderful time. Our waiter was great. We ate outside with the heaters. Food was so good. I had the veal parmigiana. Will definitely come back when we are in the area.
Nice "new" facility and same great food. Nice menu but I particularly like the lasagna and ordered it again on this visit.
We’ve been searching for years for authentic Italian food and finally found it. This place is a hidden gem. There were four of us at dinner. We had the lasagna, eggplant Parmesan, pasta Bologna’s, and the gnocchi with pork ragu. Each of us raved about our choice. We were in agreement that we will be back again soon.
Moderately expensive. Food was ok, but not exceptional. We may try again since it's close, and is attractive. Was quiet, but we ate early and nobody was in our room.
Pretty average. Friendly professional service. But the food was fairly average. Not bad but not particularly special
Excellent food and service
Third time dining at Gusto. First time in new location - looks beautiful, great personal service, great food! Had a gift cert from a friend, purchased a couple more to share.
FIRST TIME THERE AND ENORMOUSLY PLEASED WITH BOTH FOOD AND SERVICE. WILL GO BACK AGAIN ON NEXT VISIT.
Great food in authentic atmosphere. The four of us had a variety of food, and it was all delicious. Reasonable prices too. Reservations recommended because of smaller room space.
Food and service were excellent.
Setting was okay.
food was fantastic, especially the pasts specials, good service and nice vibes.
Absolutely outstanding. Smooth service, good food, quiet enough to talk. A big improvement over the old Gusto.
Selection, quality, staff and service all outstanding. The sauces are light, flavorful and complement the pastas. Our favorite restaurant on Hilton Head. Gusto could easily increase its prices and still remain a favorite. Moderately priced exceptional cuisine.
service was good, but questioned weather language was spanish or italian (two different servers two different languages) ? Food was very good. Prices just a little high. Wine was much higher than the value. House red wine should have been a Chianti, but at best a box red!!
Food and atmosphere excellent. Our bar tender Antonio was awesome and very pleasant. We felt like we were in Italy. Will be back for sure. Sea bass delicious and spinach mushroom stuffed ravioli delish.
Absolutely delicious food. It was four of us and everyone loved the food.
Food service and atmosphere was very good
Great service. Good food
Gusto is a delight. The food is excellent, the service perfect and the ambiance delightful. The restaurant is new and breathes Italy. I highly recommend it when visiting Hilton Head Island.
Have had great meals in the past. This time, some food was cold. Seems that the plated meals included lukewarm veggies. When we got a cappuccino, no biscotti with it as we have come to expect from other Italian restaurants on HHI. Gusto in its new location is a find, but a bit more attention to the full experience, please. We want to come back, but a few things need attention to bring us back.
We celebrated a major anniversary, let the restaurant know, yet no one said a thing. Not what we expected.
Excellent in every way
Food was great. Carbonara tasty and chicken parmigiana very good.
Will, our waiter, very nice, knowledgeable, and you could hear him.
Only slight comment is a but noisy….maybe some softening in decor to absorb background noise.
But minor issue…overall experience very good.
Will return and highly recommend this restaurant.
Nice evening. The restaurant was decorated beautifully. Service was excellent. Food was delicious.
New location is great and the food has been fantastic. One of our favorites on HHI.
Sat outdoors and we were
only diners until we were about to leave. Had an early reservation, so that explains the “private” dining experience. The starters - burrata with prosciutto and carpaccio - were very good. The main courses, which included oso buco, veal piccata and pappardelle, were deliziosi. Cocktails were prepared as they should be and the wines by the glass selections were good. We did not enjoy our dessert selection - the “Crazy Italian Chocolate Cake,” which seemed like store-bought chocolate devil’s-food cake with ricotta cream layered in.
Our server, as always, was spectalular - probably the best on the island.....we live here.
Delicious Italian food
Will keep on eating there everytime we stay-in Hilton Head. Waiters are excellent. Highly recommend this restaurant
Gusto is a very nice restaurant with great food, staff, service, and ambiance…..would suggest Gusto to anyone
Many excellent choices for each course. We highly recommend the mussels in limoncello sauce! Service was very good on a very busy evening!
Excellent food and lovely patio. Will make this a go to spot when visiting the island again. Noise level was fine on the patio except when the planes from nearby airport were overhead.
Great service and the food was excellent. We really enjoyed our experience.
Our food was well-prepared and served hot. We enjoyed our experience completely.
New location, nice place, ate outside.
First time there while on vacation, will definitely return.
